I think it's your own fault for clicking "I agree" without fully reading the terms of service agreement. If I'm not mistaken, there's something in there about accepting the phone as-is.

So you're saying if the phone has a dent or scratch on it when the box opened this is acceptable and we should just accept it? What a stupid statement to make. We're paying a lot of money for a premium product and we should expect premium quality, not the hassle from changing phones etc.

I totally agree with you guys that demand a perfect phone - it's one thing if the design is defective and you have a misaligned piece of plastic and all of the phones are that way (although that's lame). It's another if you get a phone with a metal case that has nicks and scratches in it.

I think Apple's blaming the assemblypeople might be uncalled for though - what if they're using an aluminum alloy that's too weak? Or a design that shouldn't have been done that way in the first place.

I admit, I'd rather have a slightly more conservative looking phone if it meant that 99% of them were perfect out of the box instead of 50%.

And I say that, thinking that the iPhones look great.. too bad :( Certainly better than anything out of android camp right now lol

They probably started having a rash of customers who dropped their phones coming in, claiming their phones were nicked out of the box. Hence the policy for opening it up in the store.

People are being EXTREMELY anal about this, and trying to exchange phones for the tiniest sliver of a defect that you can't even see unless you're looking for it. Mine had a very tiny, almost invisible dent on the side; if I had tried to exchange it for that I'd consider myself ridiculously OCD!

The only thing that makes me sad about all this is this has been a bit of a botched launch for Apple. It's the ONLY one I can think of in semi-recent history.

Having OCD is a serious health condition have some respect, also a fault is a fault does not matter how small.

Apple have messed up, I know because I have had my handset LESS than 24 hours which has a stupid "nik" just appear out nowhere.

False. If they don't replace it, return it!

I say this. If they don't swap it act like it's no big deal, return the thing instead, and immediately let them know would like to purchase an iPhone like you've never had one in your possession.

OCD is a real issue? Thanks for clarifying that! Him saying he would of been OCD is in no way NOT showing respect to those affected by OCD. Lighten up Francis.

You didn't notice your mark when you took the phone out of the box? So you could of caused yours for all you know?

Whatever, fixed it with a marker.

How can the issue be resolved if you still get a damaged one out the box? Apple genius logic never cease to amaze me
