I really, really like my iPhone 5 (black 16g).

It is, without doubt, the best phone / smart phone device I have ever owned in twenty years of buying phones / hand held / smart phone devices.

But wow, the amount of threads started here to nit pick every possible issue amazes me, we are early adopters, there will be some issues for anyone with a product which is new.

Relax, it's a really sweet product and I am very happy with mine.

Had to get that off my chest.

The same thing crops up every time Apple releases a new product. This happened with the 3rd generation iPads, then the retina MacBook Pro, and now the iPhone 5. There's a vocal (albeit small) contingent of people who will start complaining from the start because the new hardware isn't "perfect" in their view, and they will often overreact to what is honestly nothing more than a slight difference (e.g., "heatgate" with the new iPad or "Antennagate" with the iPhone 4). The issue is that because the people complaining are so vocal, it makes it seem like there are widespread problems with these new devices. However, if you look at the market as a whole, you see that the overall experience is far more positive than these forums would indicate.

In general, I think the maps are a big improvement, providing turn by turn and useful Siri integration. I think its awesome. Searching isn't as comprehensive as google maps. Doesn't have street view. But in my area its been accurate.

You think iMaps over Google maps is a big improvement? Jeez apple fanboys listen up! Because of people like you Apple thinks its ok to churn out rubbish unfinished beta products like imaps. Apple apologists.....ahh I'm lost for words. Unbelievable.

Agreed.

The e-whiners are entertaining at least! :p

Have a great day.

I agree 100%. Apple is no longer a company that should be known for making amazing products and should therefore be held to lower standards. That would help reduce backlash (and subsequent hurt feelings from its most loyal supporters) because only truly great companies have earned the right to be judged on a higher level than their competition.

No, people just need to grow up and be mature.

A company is allowed and expected to have issues whenever they roll out a new product. No matter how many they have alpha and beta testing the new product, it will still never be the same as millions using the phone and surfacing problems.

Being civil is where it's at, and no one here ever is after a launch of a new iDevice.

Isn't this just how it goes on the Internet? Twitter, forums, etc are just a convenient way for people to spew hate anonymously.

You get a lot more attention complaining about the iPhone than you do praising it. And that's the goal.

Rubbish? British? Maybe its bad over there. But where I'm at, maps are fine and the addition of turn by turn is a much bigger improvement than any loss of POIs that so far I haven't experienced. Siri integration is awesome as well.
If you just want POIs, you can use Google maps website.

I've been using Android for the last three years. Used turn by turn all the time. It was one of the big draws for Android and big negatives for iOS. Now iOS has it. It works well, better in some ways that on my Android phone. Siri integration in particular is out of this world.

Remember the more people who complain and get issues noticed, the more Apple will solve them to make an even better phone. If people stay quiet then Apple won't know if there is some changes they need to do.

Nobody suggested anybody should "stay quiet" concerning real issues. We want the few OCD types to stop obsessing, b@tching, and spreading outright lies about limited and mostly minor problems being major, widespread issues that affects every iPhone 5 ever made.

Welcome to MacRumors...land of the infinite complainers!

Last year they whined that the iPhone 4s was too big and heavy, this year they complain that its too thin and light. Last year they hated google maps, this year they hate apple maps. Last year the glass on their phone was too fragile, this year the aluminum is too easily scratched...no matter what apple does to take customer feedback into consideration, by the time they release it, the majority of this community hates it.

I personally love my iPhone 5. Dramatic improvement over the 4!

If you think this forum nitpicks too much, perhaps you should see the other sites. You might rip your heart out.

But I really like my iPhone 5. It's just so amazing especially with ultrafast LTE.

well said!

Op=Another brainwashed fanboy
The iphone 5 by far has been the most defective apple release to date
I went thru 3 before i gave up and back to my defective free 4s
Quality control will make apple the new gm

Its true. Part of the problem is that Apple fans have very high expectations.

Android users have come to accept the fact that at a lot things just won't work so it's pretty much a futile effort to complain.

Apple fans, on the other hand, expect perfection so any minor issue that pops up they are ready to jump all over it. Android fans will see the fuss and are happy to chime in as part of the mob effect. By doing so they can prove to themselves that Apple stuff sucks just as bad.

Too much negativity?

I had terrible battery life on iPhone 5 out of the box. Graphical glitches and lines of colored pixels when tapping folders. Apple App crashiness. Purple haze in pictures.

Got every right to be negative, this is just not on for a $999 AUD device.

It's now gone back to Apple for a refund, I might order another in a few weeks to see if the later manufactured units are improved. But at this stage the combination of iOS 6 and iPhone 5 feels like Microsoft's Vista.

Im sorry that you feel that way, for me i feel the complete opposite . i love the i5 and iOS 6 more then anything, the A6 chip makes this phone extremely fast and everything I do is instantaneous

I think we all hold Apple to a high standard and rightfully so. Apple has created many fine products, the Iphone5 is a perfect example.
Nothing is perfect in life, however bringing things to Apples attention will create a better experience in the future.

Im extremely happy with my i5.
Only issue I have so far is the wifi acting up sometimes but with a reset network is seems to be fine now for over a week. Waiting for a firmware fix soon.
Besides that I love the bigger screen, faster A6 chip and all around faster device with LTE.
Way too many OCD people here acting like they're buying a million dollar home inspecting every millimeter with a microscope and keep returning it a dozen times and still complaining that they cannot find the "perfect" iphone.
That's nuts:D
Some of it might be intentional from potential trolls or people really bored cause there's tons of newbies that pop up all of a sudden with 1-2 posts with crazy OCD threads.
