To each his own, I quite like the new vibration (back to the rotating vibrate motor); it's strong which means I can feel it in my pocket when it's one silent.

If you are really looking for "silent" why even have vibrate on?

Well I don't know how thick your pockets are, but I was able to feel mine just fine.
And I was able to be in meetings and feel but not hear a message come in.
So you're happy, and I'm not.
You win.

I've had two iPhone 5's.

First one was a delight, the vibrate was very quiet but you could feel it. It didn't make a racket either. However, the lock button stopped working so Apple replaced it.

My replacement is incredibly loud. In my pocket, it is audible. It seems like a petty issue, but the point in the vibrate is to silently alert you of notifications. It really isn't doing a good job of being silent. I'm going to pop into the Apple Store some point in the next month or two and see what they offer.

One of the most annoying things with the excessive vibrate is when you're in a phone call, it vibrates through your head!

My vibrator is so loud! That's the one in my iphone 5, not in my bedside table drawer, to be sure.
The 4S was so nice and discreet. i want it to vibrate, not buzz! That's the whole point why I have it on silent! :(
Be happy. My iPhone SE is so quiet. I hate it.

im not the only one!

YES it really does!!! you can go to the settings>sounds>text tone> and up top create a custom vibrate.... and half the time it works... and most of the time it doesn't and reverts back to the loud vibe... very annoying! its the only issue i have with my phone ughhh hope there is a fix for this soon!

I HAVE THE ANSWER!! Do exactly what ^HE said, but CREATE YOUR OWN. If you want a quieter vibration, then tap your pattern lightly ~ That'z it!!

I HAVE THE ANSWER!! Go to Settings, Sounds, Text Tone, at the top, go to Vibration, find Custom/Create New Vibration. If you want a quieter vibration, then tap your personalized pattern lightly ~ That'z it!!
