Not only are you comparing products that serve completely different purposes, but you are comparing products which do not exist.

Iphone 5! No, iPad 3! No, wait - NEITHER OF THEM ARE OUT YET!

Relax, and ask the question again when it's relevant.

I would expect this from a newbie, but not from someone with a post count of almost 500. :(

This is exactly like comparing the Honda Civic 2015 to the Dodge Charger 2015. It's impossible to compare two things that don't exist.

(Excuse me if I am misinformed about the car analogy; I am not a car guy. :D)

This classic belongs in its proper location. The wasteland....

This is how I feel about this thread and all other iPhone 5/iPad 17 threads:

This is a really good question...

I can't believe no one has asked this one yet!!

I mean where to start? Firstly there's the upgraded 12.1mp camera on the new iPhone, however the iPad 3 has that sexy li'l A7 chip built in, which makes running multiple applications, and surfing the internet blazing fast...

The iPhone 5 is a better deal at 3 easy payments of $39.95 on a new 3 year activation, however the iPad 3 has that sweet "Protect all" case now included, which makes it vitually indestructable, even when swimming with it!!

Although, if I were you, I'd say go for the iPad 3. Now that Apple has (FINALLY - jeez) integrated a phone into the unit, so that it is basically an iPhone, only huge, and not so pocket sized... I think the choice is clear.

Man. Great question though. Seriously... I've got myself all worked up over the finer details of these two amazing machines!!!

if these threads on an internet forum are making you bang your head, you need a life, bro

haha Its just the constant repeat of the same questions over and over and over and over. I miss the days of when MR had members that would actually LOOK, READ, and even SEARCH to see if their question has been asked before.
Ah...good times, good times. :)

Wirelessly posted (Mozilla/5.0 (iPhone; U; CPU iPhone OS 4_3_3 like Mac OS X; en-us) AppleWebKit/533.17.9 (KHTML, like Gecko) Version/5.0.2 Mobile/8J2 Safari/6533.18.5)

Maybe you should hold out for the iPhone 6 or iPad 4

Well, given that this whole thread is based on groundless speculation, my prediction is that the iPhone5 will dock with the iPad 3 to act as its CPU.

And, no, I am not being serious...

ipad 3 of course, it has a new retina display, A12 processor chip, 4g connectivity , made of liquid metal, 3 mm thick, 20 hours battery, a 12 MP camera on the front and back, voice and face recognition software, . it even has flash.

who wouldn't buy it?

I'd wait for iphone 7 vs ipad 8

By then you'll be able control your hover car with the updated app

Impulse buy???

How can that be when you are asking questions about hardware that has not even been introduced?

Impulse to me is when I go to buy socks and come home with a new car!

Hahahahahaha is this real?

Hey OP seriously though. Two totally different devices. The choice should be easy for you.

Stoooopid. The iPhone 6 will be the real iPhone 5 anyway. And the iPad 3 will be replaced by the iPad 3LTE anyway, so don't bother.

See, I can play, too.

I doubt they will have another iPad released this year, being as they just released the 2nd 4 months ago. But if they do, it will not be major differences from the iPad 2. Also, no one even knows if an iPhone 5 is going to released this year. From a reputable source, the iPhone in the making is most likely going to be iPhone 4s. Until apple announces it, NOBODY knows ANYTHING about Any apple product until apple itself announces it, regardless of what you think (the people at AT&T and Verizon do not even know.) But as an Apple customer of 5+ years, the next iPad, if released this year, will not be a drastic difference from the 2nd. Wait the the iPhone, but I would get the iPad 2, or wait until the iPad after the next is released.

Most reports strongly support a fall release schedule for the iPad 3. I believe this is right, Galaxy Tab has a higher resolution and is slimmer than iPad 2. Apple doesn't like that:D
