Nice, I'm glad the new construction based on the first video seems to have made the phone stronger. Not that I've ever shattered my 4S yet.

Why does everyone knock plastic and bring up "fandroid"? I'm assuming everyone saying that is a new generation of iPhone user that has never touched or even knew that the 3G and 3GS (my 1st iphone) had an all plastic body construction. I'd say the 3G/3GS is arguably better at holding up drops than the 4/4S.

The plastic on the S3 is worse than any other Galaxy before it. It's not only looks cheap and plasticky, it is cheap and plasticky.

Awesome! I drop my iPhone 4 pretty regularly -- twice yesterday :). Don't know why, but there's something about it that just likes to be dropped I guess. Both front & back glass are broken, as was the glass of the lady's 4 at the cafe table next to me yesterday -- "hey, we match" turned out not to be a great pickup line. Very psyched to see this one should be more durable. Looking forward to delivery.

Is there some reason these companies are against using, I dunno, rubber? At least a little, so you don't drop the damn things in the first place? A thin little rubber band around the edge would keep it from slipping.

* Screen resolution
* screen tech (OLED - better contrast ratio)
* 2x more RAM
* wireless charging
* two baseband chips (simultaneous LTE data and voice)
* bigger battery (better battery time for talk and stand by)
* wireless charging
* memory card (more storage)

Money can buy you silicon, but not experience! :p

Upon dropping the S3 and the case breaking apart (around 5:05 in the first video):

"The case is just cheap plastic really anyway..."

That was the most hilarious part of the video!

funny to see...

These guys spent over a 1000 dollars for the two phones, and yet they can't afford a cameraman who is able to work without auto focus. Nobody can see the actual damages, because the camera keeps focussing on the background... two thumbs down for that!

Props to the site for following through and publishing the story - despite the results being not what they'd hoped.

The vulnerability of the iPhone was always one of it's weaknesses, and it's nice to see that's been addressed.

Now I'm just worried that the quality of the product as a while, such as the paint coming off, will detract from that.

yup i did not know that they painted the metal .. that is never a good option... they should have used a machining process on a colored metal composite instead.. i will get the white one just to avoid the scuffing issues..

* Screen resolution - Irrelevant. ppi is high enough on iPhone to not see pixels.

* screen tech (OLED - better contrast ratio) - Opinion. IPS lets me see in daylight better

* 2x more RAM - Irrelevant. I have games on my iPhone 4S that play better than on a Android device with double the RAM. It's about how the OS is designed, not how much RAM you have.

* wireless charging - Opinion. I find this to be more of a gimmick. It's not hard to just snap in a cable at the bottom in half a second. And I don't want to lug around a huge charging pad everywhere I go.

* two baseband chips (simultaneous LTE data and voice) - I agree, for Verizon and Sprint customers this is better.

* bigger battery (better battery time for talk and stand by) - Comes at the downside of a bigger screen, which is tough for one-handed use and smaller hands.

* wireless charging - You already said this but it makes your list look bigger.

* memory card (more storage) - 64GB isn't big enough for you? I do like how it's expandable though, but again, the price to pay is the size and width of the device.

One more thing. Dear Fandroids and Windows Phone geeks (and iPhone fans too by the way). SPECS DO NOT AUTOMATICALLY MAKE YOUR PHONE BETTER THAN OTHERS.

I have to think the light weight of the iPhone helps in these situations where you are just dropping your phone and not flinging it down. I swear, I took mine out of the box and thought they'd sent me an empty case. Compared to my iphone 4, it's like holding a styrofoam cutout of an iPhone. I'm not sure I actually LIKE that it's so light because it feels ... less substantial. Cuz you know... it isn't like any phones are actually HEAVY. All this thinner and lighter stuff has gone beyond where it matters, at this point.

However, glad to see the new one they dropped didn't fly into a million pieces.

* More Fragile then iPhone 5

There fixed your list for you.

The international version of the SIII only has 1GB RAM as well: http://www.samsung.com/hk_en/consume...GT-I9300MBDTGY.

Gahhh!!!

I love how there's people out there that have the new iPhone and they're just throwing them around trying to break them. There are people out there that now have to wait almost a month to get one.

I'm glad to see that Apple made durability a high priority with the iPhone 5 after the painfully fragile 4 and 4S. I'm hoping the new iPod touch is also more durable than the 4th gen as that was also very easy to break. And for anyone that doubts the authenticity of these drops, just watch one of the millions of iPhone 4S drop videos. No matter which way you drop those they break. The fact that they had to actually make an effort to break the iPhone 5 says a lot.

Wireless charging is so good, it's mentioned twice.

Oh and you're dreaming if you think OLED is superior to IPS.

I'd like to see a drop test on gravel/asphault. These tests seem to be on a nice smooth tiled floor or smooth walkway. What happens if it's a not so smooth surface it's falling on?
