68:96 Apple

Spotty wifi. I'd show full bars yet everything will hang. I'd have to go to wifi settings and see the network is disconnected. Reset network settings and reconnect then it'll work for a while and disconnect again. This is on an Airport Extreme.
Obviously for those of you that don't have a problem won't have any clue. Who's blaming anyone, we're trying to find out the problem.

Same here 6896 and Im having wifi issues.
Its giving me issues with 2-3 different wifi routers so far connecting but sometimes not pulling data at all and freezing.
All other devices connect fine with those routers, my i5 is the only device that giving problems.

I have an odd problem. Only when I get home on some days I need to reboot the phone to get working wifi. It works until I get home the next day Its connected but no data seems to be going or it goes through in bursts after 15 second delays then stops again.

I have DFU restored and set up as new with no change. I am going to change the encryption settings when I get home to see if it helps. Its running WPA2/AES, but then again so is my router at work and it never has a problem.

Also, wifes phone has no such issues.

I guess your assumption was wrong. Mine is also an Apple chip on my replacement model and it gives me better wifi reception than my original iPhone 5.

Mine is a 68:96 and I had terrible issues that seem to have resolve themselves.
If I have to exchange this one I will be mad with fury!
It took me 3 exchanges to get one with no body damage.

Would be interested to know what your wifi address starts with, is it 68:96?

Nope! It's 98:FE!

next question would be, what routers are you guys using? Some have mentioned changing routers has helped, so maybe it is a certain brand or just out dated technology

Kinda hard to use my iphone on wifi without holding it in my hand you know.

..Did they really think that was part of it? I also don't think this is another "you're holding it wrong." Haha.

Maybe that's the case, but it could be that people just have crappy routers. I have an AirPort Express 2012 and I'm getting better reception on my swap iPhone 5 than my original.

Apple chip. WPA AT&T router paired with WPA2 Time Capsule (all devices connect with TC).

Had an issue with Safari YouTube not playing vids the other day which led me to speed testing the iP5, iPad 2 (iOS 6) and iMac. The iP5's results are typically about 4 Mbps while the other devices are about 11. Now and then the iP5 gives me an 11. I haven't had any further video play problems.

I also thought I might be getting slow speeds at hotspots. I stopped by Apple today for a Lightning USB cable. While I was there I did side by side WiFi speed tests with 4 floor models, 2 white, 2 black. The store had two public WiFi's and I tested on both and insured both phones being tested shared the same connection. I went to various web pages and refreshes, loaded a vid, and conducted speed tests from a web app.

My phone was on par and exceeded in some comparisons. Maybe the public hotspots I've been on don't offer the download speeds I anticipated.

Yes, actually holding any phone covering the wifi antenna will give you slower speeds and poorer connections. Holding my hand around the bottom of my razr maxx where wifi antenna is would drop the signal by 3 bars and DL speeds would drop from 30Mbs to 15 Mbs. Can do the same with the iphone. Set them both on a table, wifi is full strength again and wifi speeds increase. Same if you cover the antenna on your router. It's not rocket science.

Brand new Linksys router and on another location a new modem/router combo using verizon fios that was received 3 months ago.
Every other device connects fine with no issues. You're telling us to start throwing away our perfectly fine routers in order to find one that wont give those issues with iphone 5 models? Shouldnt be other way around? Apple pushing a fix for their device to work on all wifi networks without issues like all other phones and wifi enabled devices?

We're not talking about slower speeds.
The iphone 5 just stops receiving data. Start downloading then Zero, nothing.
Wish it was just slower, my fios router puts out 35mb but I cant open a single webpage sometimes.

68:96.

See my thread here https://forums.macrumors.com/threads/1460247/ for my Wi-Fi issues

Apple chip here. No WiFi problems. Actually, the range is much better and more consistent than my 4S. The 4S will occasionally drop a WiFi signal bar where as the 5 remains solid all the time.

Ive just got mine yesterday, turned it on and wifi worked straight away. But then all of a sudden, around 7pm last night it just dropped. Cant even connect now, or if I do, its taking ages to try to connect. Thank god for the fast 3G but will this be fixed with an update soon coz its kinda ridicolous, seeing as my Mac and the 4 are working fine on the wifi.

68:96 for my iPhone and Wifi works great. 25.18 down and 23.57 up on Speedtest.net.

Yea mine's always perfect after a reboot. 28mbit down all evening long. It's when I leave the house for work and spend a few hours away that it won't work.

Also, as a followup I have 2 wifi routers and one of them has 5ghz as well, when it doesnt work it does work on any of them.
