The issue is 8GB is way too little.

Even if you didn't install any apps. You will still have to be very careful with photos and music and video.

So u can barely take photos. Than what's the point of a smartphone?

The way Apple counts photostream against ur GB of internal storage sucks as well. So u essentially have to delete both internal photos and photostream to free up storage space INTERNALLY on ur own phone. What's the point of photostream than?

Use iCloud Photo Library instead. I do. Works only okay though.

iPhone 5C 8GB

Doesn't iCloud Photo Stream store a local copy as well as in the cloud?

Correct me if I'm wrong :)

iCloud Photo Library and photo stream are two different things :) ImageUploadedByTapatalk1421691842.726443.jpg

Bottom line is 8gb is not enough for storage these days.

It gets to the point where you start to lose functionality when you run out of storage space (can't download apps, can't download music, even basic things like taking a photo).

Apple has got to realize especially with ipad 16gb. There is only so much the public can take in terms of profit margin and lack of storage space.

Why jump from 16 to 64gb for $100? We all know the answer.

Shop around at the corporate cellular stores (not Apple!) I just did this at Christmas (AT&T) They are selling the 16gb for the same price as the 8gb. Just shop around.

Does anyone have one these? It's getting close to time to get my youngest daughter a phone and I want to go as low end as possible, yet still be within the apple ecosystem. How much of a limitation is the 8GB of storage and iOS 8? I understand she won't be able to load it up with stuff. However, is it enough for the basics? A few games and apps, some pictures here and there, etc...?

You can get the Verizon iP5c 16GB through Best Buy on Edge for $18.75/mo

For some users it's fine. My mom has a 16GB 5S and has only one app: Google Maps.

She takes a few pictures, but I think she's only used like 300MB over what iOS uses.

My father had a 16GB 5C and the dropped it, screwing up the LCD (but not the glass for some reason). Anyway, he ended up walking out of the Verizon store with an 8GB model for free. The guy there told him that they no longer carried the 16GB 5C, so he settled for the 8 instead of a different phone (he already had a case for the 5C, it was free, yadeyadeya).

He only uses the phone for - shocker - calling, the occasional texting, and the VERY RARE photography. There's still over 5GB free on the phone, so it'll last him a while.

I personally think that the whole 8GB thing in 2015 is s total bitch move by Apple. Dire, there are some who only need 8GB, but why bump it back down from 16? They can't be saving THAT much...

For a teen, I personally would say no becuase even with careful management of content via iTunes, It'd be a bitch to use IMO.

They want you to buy a more expensive one if u want higher capacity

Problem solved....THANKS!
You are welcome. You can see the Edge pricing if you click see all pricing options.

However, I noticed that you can't purchase through Edge online or at least I can't figure out how to do it online. In-store they should be able to get the 16GB models if they are available online.

I am getting a 5C soon. (8GB of course) and ive come to realize that 8GB was never enough space for any iOS device. And it makes me wonder, why does Apple make people suffer with 8GB? Do they really hate us that much? I mean, the way I see it, the 8GB option should've been abolished with the discontinuation of the 4th gen touch. Why not make 16GB the bottom line? Shoot, even 32GB would be respectable considering they are going over the 100GB mark nowadays. We all know the time will come when the 6S comes out, and the 5S will (possibly) be the budget iPhone. So will they cripple that phone with 8GB?

Another weird issue i (and im sure alot of other people) have is with the iPhone 6 Capacities. Why no 32GB? It's just weird to me to jump straight from 16GB to 32.

8GB is just simply not enough. If you can swing it on installments I would consider a 16GB 5S since it will only be a couple bucks more monthly and a nice protective case!

Since I'm a sales associate for a major wireless carrier that would just be my opinion. The 5c is perfect for first time smartphone users or the older crowd.

Also at work I sell the 5c to those who have a smaller financial budget and only want the $0.01 smartphones and nothing else. I don't think this is the case for you though.

I have a 5s 16G, and I am not a power user at all. I just can't imagine getting by with 8G.
