Yes.

Aliminum is a very cheap material. And not particularly strong in the iP5's application.

Aluminum is a cheap METAL, isn't cheaper than cheap plastic used by other brands, at all ....
And it is quite strong compared to plastic. If you take a look at various "crash test" on the web, iPhone 5 and 5s win almost over everyone.
The only problem is cosmetic, since it is a soft metal and it scratches and dents quite easy.

Plastic is the better material for the job. No questions.
No questions ? Says who ? You ? :D
iPhone 5/5s are premium products, with a premium finish ...
You could make premium products also in plastic for sure (iPhone 5c and most of the Nokia Lumia are good examples).
But there isn't anything cheap in the iPhone realization.

Stainless, as in the 4/4S, would be ideal if desiring a metallic material.

Stainless steel for the entire body ?
Are you kidding, don't you ?
I don't want a 4" smartphone 200 gr heavy .... thank you.

White is girly?[/QUOTE]

No it isn't.
And it's not girly green and blue ...
But a black or Product Red iPhone 5c would be my choice.

And it would then be heavier. The current build of the 5s for me is fine, lightweight, still feels premium and not cheap at all. The 5c will also loose value a lot quicker than the 5s would under identical conditions due to plastic discolouring/cracks etc. If your happy with your 5c then that's all that matters, but the 5s in no way feels inferior when you have both in your hand.

Plus they should have done a black 5c instead of maybe pink or green!

Agree on all fronts, but I don't think the weight of the 4/4S was bad at all. Not too worried about depreciation. I think you are overestimating 5c wear over time as well.

Why apple paid for the raw material is of no concern to me.

Best material for the job please. If plastic, so be it. Just do it well.

I did not say all stainless body. The 4/4S heft in a 5/5s size device would had been fine for a metal model. Aluminum is a fine material for many applications. It would be great for the 5s If it had a body like a larger iPod touch. Just my opinion. My opinion is that is where the iP6 will go as well. No more sandwiching. No more external bands. And aluminum would be fine in that role as well, as it would be a large single piece.

Glad to see this thread as I personally feel the 5C looks nicer than the 5S too.

Hoping the iPhone 6 can have same styling with new colours. Orange/White , Purple/White , Turquoise/White , Product Red/White

It can be slightly thicker due to the form factor allowing a better camera and larger battery.

Something along these lines and I am sold.

For me it all has to do with the weight of the phone. I think the lighter phones feel cheap and not as sturdy. It feels like I could break them with little force. The iPhone 4/4s never felt like that but the iPhone 5/5s does. The 5c, although only slightly heavier feeling feels so much more sturdy.

I am not sure about a generalization about plastic. When the poster said it felt cheap I related to that. A few years ago, before getting an iPhone, I was bounding around on various phones and carriers trying to get something that worked at my home (only ATT had a strong signal in my home I discovered as a last resort) I had two different android phones. While the Samsung Galaxy S was a nice phone it was very light weight and plastic. I liked the features but not the feel at all. The iPhone was solid feeling to that phone.

After a week with the 5c I am happy with it. It is better than the 4s to me. What I keep reading about in phones when recently shopping is screen size. Many want a large size. While I like a large screen, I would not want anything that is not pocketable. Some of the new phones are really big. I guess it depends on how much you surf on your phone. I use an iPad and computer for that and use it on my phone in a pinch.

I love the look and feel of the 5C. Played with one at the apple store a few weeks ago, and it felt much better in my hand than the 5s. I have a 5 now and would like to use it without a case, but it's too thin, especially when picking up off a table. The 5c doesn't have that problem.

I will be buying a white 5c this week.

iPhone 5C feels more robust then 5S ??

Yes, but don't forget when you drop a heavier object there is more force making damage more likely. The glass backs on the 4/4s can break/shatter while metal can dent or scratch. Although glass may feel sturdier, it is definitely more fragile.
But.......
I think I would have definitely gotten a 5c if it had the 5s internal components.

i love the 5c. with the curved edges, it just feels so solid in the hand, and the colors are a lot more attractive than i thought they would be. what stops me from getting one is the price. i couldn't knowingly pay x dollars for this phone when $100 more gets me so much more with the 5s (better camera, more speed, touch id). in a few months, though, i'll probably check out craigslist to see if i can score a deal on a yellow 5c.
