What software feature did the 5S get that the 5 didn't via iOS 7? Sure, "features" that have to do with hardware like Touch ID or the Camera stuff....but I can't think of anything my 5S can do that my wife's 5 can't as part of iOS 7.
Apple does well with supporting devices. And most times, the reason a feature isn't supported isn't Apple's fault - just simply a limitation of the older device's hardware. Airdrop for instance - the 4S and 4 don't have the proper BT chip.
It isn't purely hardware, but the fact that the it's not good enough for Apple in the name of user experience. Slow motion is disabled on the 5 even though there are third party apps that can do it. People have hacked the iPhone 4 to enable Siri and the iPhone 3G to enable Video and Voice Control.
