A collection of iPhones are modeled alongside the brand new Apple-branded Lightning Dock, revealed Tuesday, on the dock's official store page. An iPhone 6, 6 Plus, and 5s are shown placed on the new dock's lightning charger port, but a mysterious pink-and-black outlier, which appears to be an iPhone 5c at first glance, upon closer inspection can be seen including a Touch ID sensor instead of a traditional home button.

Rumors of a cheaper, 4-inch "iPhone 6c" model of the next generation of iPhones began late last year, backed by a few sources out of the Asian supply chain who manufacture the smartphones. More recently, however, reliable KGI Securities analyst Ming-Chi Kuo claimed these rumors as false, noting that Apple will stick with 4.7- and 5.5-inch models this year.

While the iPhone on Apple's website in question today could in fact be the accidental unveiling of a new iPhone 6c, it's highly unlikely the company made such a slip-up in revealing an entirely new iPhone. It's more likely a curiously egregious Photoshopping error having to do with one of Apple's website designers, and will no doubt be taken down in due time.

Update 10:05 AM Pacific: Apple has removed Touch ID from the iPhone 5c render as expected.

I don't C why Apple would photoshop something so obvious. Have we ever Ceen such a big photoshop error on their part? I can't remember

They should make use of the beats acquisition and give the 6c a touch of it. Teens would love a 6c with beats audio in beats colors

Looks like a case

Isn't it more likely that they're illustrating the fact that the dock can be used with a case?

It includes the mute switch (instead of a cutout for the switch), so it's likely a C model.

I would have thought that all of Apple's iPhone 6C product images would be displaying iOS9 (with a different background, as they usually do), so I'm reluctant to call it that, but it definitely looks like a C model with TouchID.

I don't see why adding Touch ID (as the lone change) to the current 5C would seem so unlikely.

Isn't that exactly what Apple did with the iPad Mini 3?

Yes, might be just a photoshop error (at least that is what I hope)

I think it would be lame if they only 'c' change would be the sensor (but somehow it sounds familiar, so I am afraid it might be true)

What would compel Apple to put all of the features of the expensive phones into the cheap 6c? Likely not much

If that's a 6c with a 4 inch display I'll downgrade directly!
I don't know if there is are others disliking the 4.7 screen size (I'm aware of others really liking it however), but for me personally, the iPhone 5 screen size fits perfectly.

Nice use of "curiously egregious."

As for Photoshopping -- you know this is Apple, right? If it was indeed a editing mistake it was a mistake made with Aperture (and I am not even talking about the mistake being the retirement of it -- although it was mistake), or the new Photos app. :D

I was really jealous of the 5s for 1.5 years (having the 5c), but now I'm okay with the 5c. The 5s would be nice, but I'm just hoping to get another 4" with some 6 internals, whether it's plastic or not.

It will be quite the let down if the only 4" device is just a plastic 5s.

Maybe it was just a mistake, as they also show the iPad mini 1, and iPad mini 2 with touch ID on their website:

It won't be a 6C - They'll just add Touch ID to the current 5C. Same form factor, same internals. Just like they did with the iPad Mini 3,

My guess is it will be a 6c. And the 6c will be the size of a 5c, but with Touch ID and a few upgrades. The hipsters LOVE the 4 inch screen.
