Search the forums, more than a few threads saying people are keeping the 5s and foregoing the 6, they prefer 5s size and sturdiness, etc. etc. I am one of them, 5s is superior design.

You could search the forums but I'm sure is is FAR less than the 10 million 6 and 6 plus units sold by Apple over the weekend of the 19th. Don't feel bad if you are stuck on a contract or can't afford one the 5s is still a best in class device.

As a phone yes the 5S is better due to size & easy of use with one hand.

As a multimedia device no that goes to the 6 & 6+ because of the larger screens.

I bought a 5S when they started taking orders for the 6.

Not enough of a leap in battery life to care. The camera isn't that much better to care.

Not concerned about raw hardware specs now, if I were i'd have gone for an Android phone like my HTC One M8 that i've just got rid of.

It's the OS and ease of use that is a priority to me, the 5S does that the same.

Maybe when the 6S comes out next September, there will be a few more bells and whistles to entice me.

This is not a new opinion, and the conclusion is that Apple should just offer 3 screen sizes next year because there is just no consensus.

The market has settled into small, medium, and large. Just like coke, burgers, fries, and just about everything else in life.

Really not sure why phone companies aren't listening. This isn't that hard to figure out!

hasnt android listened? they have almost too many. i know its many different companies. i also wonder if they stress and hem and haw about which one to buy. or is that a curse bestowed upon us only

I really love the shape of the iPhone 4/5 series, and at first I did NOT dig the shape of the 6.

But with a little hands-on time I've had with the 6, I will be very happy to have it when my contract is renewable next year. The screen is crystal clear and the camera is best in class; but that's not enough for me to expense the time & money for selling my 5S for an early upgrade.

BUT I'd rather Apple had built more battery into the iPhone 6, rather than focus on maximizing the slenderness of it.

"Better" really is subjective to each individual and their personal tastes.

I plan on replacing my 4S sometime over the next couple months and I can't decide between the 5S and 6 (not +).

I'm curious how useful ApplePay ends up being before I make my decision. Currently there isn't anything the newer iPhone offer that would warrant the hassle of the switch to a newer one for me. My employer buys them for me too.

Anyway point being, no you are not the only one that may find the 5S to be better just because it's smaller.

But what will be Apple's free on contract phone next year be? Will it still be the 5s? Or would Apple take the guts of a 4" model and give it a 6 case?

NO, you aren't the only one. This is probably the first time I've not had any desire to go out and upgrade after a new iPhone launch. For me, the 5S is the pinnacle of iPhone design/form-factor so far.

Obviously the 6 has better internals, but until the 5S can't do everything I need it to do, I can see myself keeping my 5S for a few more years to come.

I like the design of the 6 and 6plus a lot better. The 5 was very nice but the curved glass on the 6 is awesome.

The design of the 6 and 6 Plus are much better than the 5/5c/5s design. The 6 Plus might be a little unwieldily for some people, but it works great for me. That said, everyone has their own tastes.

I just got my 5c in April...BUT I took the plunge and ordered a Space Gray 64GB iPhone 6....I still LOVE my 5c and I also love the 5s design, for me moving to the iPhone 6 is departing the Apple design that Apple has been using since the iPhone 4 more or less...I guess its just nostalgia but I'm confident the nostalgia will be replaced with joy when the thing finally gets in the mail -_- I'll always have a special place for the iPhone 5/5s and iPhone 5c in my heart (just like I do for the iPhone 3G!) but the iPhone 6 is moving forward!

I will say all the talk of the brilliant better iPhone 6 display, I am just not seeing it. Compared to my 5, yes the 6 is brighter, but it's not sharper or better. Colors are not any better, pictures don't look any better, in some cases, the 6 looks a hair worse than my 5. It's just bigger.

Am I the only person here who prefers the iphone 5s over the 6?

Your not, I prefer the size of the 5s over the 6.

I don't think the larger screen size shows a lot more information.

The phone that fits and feels best in my hand and it's easiest to handle is the 5s.

I hope the 6s comes out in the 5s size as well as the larger sizes so everyone can get the phone that is best for them.

I had a 6 for a week and returned it because I just wasn't that enamored with it like with other iPhones. I couldn't really get used to the size and every time I picked up my 5S it just felt so much better in my hand and to use one handed. The Apart from the screen increase and Apple Pay I don't really think I am missing out on anything.

I agree,5s definitely much more appealing design than 6..
I like the size of 6 plus and 6 and believe anything smaller than 6 would be too small by todays standard, but I'm not a fan of iphone 6's design.
Not to mention the durability issues of 6 and 6 Plus. overall 5s a much better built, and prettier phone than either 6 or 6 plus.
Let's hope Apple improves the design and specially durability in 6s / 6s Plus.

I don't know that it's objectively better, but I do personally prefer the size of the 5s. I use my iPad mini retina for anything where screen size is important while my phone is used just for phone calls and music, and I prefer a compact device. And no, as much as I'd like to consolidate, for me the 6+ is not big enough to replace my mini.

The 5 and 5s are my least favorite design wise. The edges were too sharp and damaged easily and I did not like the glass top and bottom on the back.

The 6 is so much nicer to hold.

Agree. Wasn't a fan of the square almost sharp like edges of the 5s

I guess Apple did not offer a 4" iPhone this year since there is hardly any difference between the 5s and 6 except for the screen size.

We most likely will see one next year or a smaller 4.7" iPhone 7 similar to the Sony z3 compact size in 2016.

Give us 3 size options Apple! For 7 years you got us used to and hooked on compact devices and then you just completely drop them in one year? WTF?

I had the 6 and am going back to the 5s. Why? I prefer that smaller size for sure and use my phone a lot with just one hand. It's just easier and quicker for me.

That said, I did love the design of the 6. Curved glass, higher contrast, and thinness were really nice.

I really hope they offer an iPhone 6s in a 4" size. That would be ideal for me.

I strongly contemplated going back to the 5 form factor for the first week or so, and then got used to using the 6. It is harder to use with one hand, but I do like the phone.

The 5s is hardly cheaper than the 6, so I couldn't get myself to spend the money to rebuy an old phone.

The 5s is still available, and the A7 is only ~20% slower than the A8. I wouldn't say they dropped smaller devices.

Agreed. I don't know why so many people want to cling onto their 5/5Ses. It was the most uncomfortable iPhone to hold because of the sharp edges, the most easily damaged because of the chromed bezel, and generally had a scratch-prone finish.

I was talking about the future. Saying a year old phone is still available doesn't mean much of anything in the world of smartphones...

5s is fine for now, 3 years from now though? Apple needs to come out with 3 different sizes to cover all customers!
