Did you get a new one? hows that operating?

I did, today. It hasn't crashed so far, but I haven't done too much. The sleep/wake button is very annoyingly loose/rattly, so I'm bringing it back tonight. Again. :apple:

Wait for it.... It just happened on the 5S they gave me yesterday.... So I'm thinking its a iOS problem when the phone is under lots of stress and multitasking.

So 'nice' to see that I'm not alone. Got my 16GB 5S last Saturday and set it up off the backup from my 4S. From the beginning I had problems with apps crashing and then I got the blue screen of death and automatic reboot. Took it back to Best Buy (where I bought it) and they would've replaced it immediately but they were out of stock. So I went to the Apple store. At the Apple store they ran the diagnostics, saw the apps that we're crashing, I pointed out a weird discrepancy in that their diagnostic test said I was running 7.0 even though I had updated to 7.0.2, but the genius tech shrugged it off. They had me completely wipe the phone and set it up as a new iPhone. I did that in store, went home and finished downloading all my apps and re-establishing my preferred settings. Plugged it into my MBP to sync my photos back over and it would not sync. I spent almost two hours in chat support with Apple and they told me to take it back to the store. I did that yesterday. (The very next day after I had just been there and was told to wipe it). They ended up replacing the phone last night. Got back home, did the whole process again. Went to bed. Woke up this morning, started using the phone and bam! BSOD. Again. On the brand new replacement. Contacted Apple Support immediately. They ran diagnostics and this time the support guy immediately noticed that their diagnostic tool shows me running 7.0 even though I updated to 7.0.2 last night before I went to bed. He had me send him a screen shot from the phone to prove it! He believes that the phone's processor (or brain as he called it) doesn't know that the OS is 7.0.2, but all of the apps do, and that's causing conflicts in the system which is why it's crashing. Or so he says. He sent the report up to the engineers. This makes sense as I didn't have big problems until 7.0.1. (Though that of course was released only a couple days after I got the phone so it's all relative, I suppose). I'm in a holding pattern. I was told that I could go and get another replacement, but if this is not due to a buggy phone (and I can't think that my luck is *that* bad to get two messed up phones from two different retailers) then I don't see how that would help. So disappointed. This could be a really phenomenal phone if it didn't crash so often.

Most stupid answer ever. A processor cannot "know" about version numbers. It merely executes instructions created when the software was compiled.

It's iOS7. It's done it on my 5 since Beta 1 but got less frequent progressively. Still happens in GM on 5 and 5S.

I'm sure it will be resolved in an update.

My 5S restarted while ending apps today in the multi-task menu.

Still crashing with the replacements? Since I've last posted it had crashed twice. It's the same error low memory error. If a replacement fixed your problem I might do the same thing.. It's not super annoying but if software updates don't fix it then I'm all for hardware replacements.. :-\

Not a complete crash today, but my mail app crashed when I was typing an email, when I went to insert a photo it crashed.

I had two other occasions where the phone itself shutdown and got the crazy blue screen, once was when opening the camera app, and the 2nd time the phone just rebooted by itself.

I'm guessing that 7.0.x needs a bigger upgrade to fix it's bugs...

I'm on 7.0.2 btw

My guess is that's more a problem with their diagnostic tool not being updated to recognize 7.0.2 than an issue with the phone or iOS.

Why wouldn't this happen to my iPhone 5? I get the minor app crash but nothing of what you guys are talking about. It doesn't make sense that it would do this on an upgraded phone, I also have iOS 7.

The 5S is running a 64-bit operating system with a 64-bit CPU. The 5 is all 32 bit. My theory is bugs in the 64 bit implementation.

Mine crashed 2 times while using airdrop. The first time the screen turned blue and then the apple logo came on. The second time just the apple logo came on. I'm thinking this are software issues, at least i hope they are. I feel like ios 7 is not optimized for the 5s. My friend's 5 is faster opening the multitasking screen and going to the homescreen from an app. I hope that this is fixed with ios 7.0.2

I've also had this happen a couple of times. BSOD..lol:p

I have not had the phone for a full week and I've experienced the following: applications freezing (Apple and non-Apple branded) and crashing in the Setting menu.

Yes, for me it has almost always, if not always been when multitasking. I'll wait to see if there is a fix with a future iOS update and hoping someone on here finds out...

Same, its always when I'm trying to switch apps. Glad it seems to be an iOS issue and not a hardware. I'm not really interested in trying to exchange mine!

Can you turn off airdrop somewhere in settings or is it always on?

That has nothing to do with the topic, but you can turn it off from the control center. Drag up from the bottom of the screen, tap airdrop and then off. Or just turn off Bluetooth.

My crash was a little more severe than most I've seen here. Three days in it crashed to blue and when rebooted entered a loop that always booted to blue. My phone was a blue brick for like an hour while I learned how to access recovery mode. I couldn't just restore from backup in iTunes because the phone was "locked with a pass code" and I couldn't enter the passcode/fingerprint to unlock it because it didn't boot. All data on the phone came up as orange "other".

Since doing a complete restore to factory settings and then recovery from iCloud I have not had it crash.
