Why not? If I take something to a post office before 5pm and send first class or special delivery, it will get there the next day. Likewise, if I order something online, so long as I order before their shut off time, it will be with me by morning.

And not just Royal Mail; lots of companies offer next day delivery via courier.

Apple will use a courier like UPS and all couriers charge extra for Saturday delivery so the "standard" shipping is usally Monday-Friday. You may be able to choose express shipping but that usually entails extra cost on your part. I note that for the 5c they are offering free shipping to arrive on the 20th. We will just have to wait till nearer the time I think.

That's a little bit different to categorically saying that they won't be delivered on a Saturday which is what other posters had said.

Ok, I'm a bit confused. Don't all point and laugh if this is a stupid question!

If the 5S is launching at 12:01 PST, then isn't this 08:01 BST? Or do you think they will have staggered launches across different countries so that it is effectively 12:01 am local time regardless?

I just tried asking an Apple rep on the live chat, and they said they had no idea when the order system would go live in the UK.

It will be 12.01 PST. Can't see them taking pre orders at different times. I'd love to be proven wrong.

I have to say I would agree with this. I know I have an email that states 12:01 BST, but like you, I'm struggling to believe it.

Needless to say, I'll be checking at just after midnight anyway! :)

Yes I suppose it wouldn't hurt to check. Can you upload the email you got to an image host?

Here you go. Just says "after" 12:01 am BST, which in theory could be pretty much any time after 12:01 am.

I could be wrong but looks like the 'p' has been altered to read 'b'

I can see what you mean perhaps. Can assure you though, that email came direct from Apple, and to be honest, I certainly couldn't be bothered doctoring it in any way to try and confuse anybody. Oh, and the first "B" at the very start of the spiel looks exactly the same.

For all the PST/BST confusion.....surely Apple are doing the sensible thing and launching at 00:01 in that time zone for every territory and then stores opening from 8:00 local time?

I do hope it's true. Still undecided if I will get one.

I have the same email, definitely BST

EE are accepting preorders for the iPhone 5S.

I called 150, went to the menu to add new lines or upgrade existing lines, spoke to somebody about the iPhone 5S.

This was the outcome;

1. bought out an existing contract for £345.10
2. ordered an iPhone 5S 32GB Silver and an iPhone 5S 16GB Gold (shared, £78.00 a month, unlimited calls and texts and 10GB of data between both devices)
3. the woman will call me up on Friday morning and take the buyout fee + the upfront costs[1], ship the phone out the same day, will be delivered on Monday 23rd.

[1] I asked why she couldn't take the payment from my bank today and she stated there's an agreement with Apple to not 'officially' sell the device until Friday, so they aren't allowed to take any monies from customers.

You are wrong, I have the exact same email. its BST.

Also the address at the bottom of the email is the one for the Apple UK headquarters, why would it say a timezone which doesn't exist in the UK?

I figure devices are already in domestic warehouses and that they'll start selling them based on local time, since there's zero chance of any of these orders being received on launch day anyway.

For the doubters, cycle back a page and find my post with a picture of my email as well. Definitely BST.

I was thinking of doing the same. How long did you have left on you contract If you don't mind me asking. Mine runs out oct 2014.

I think u reserved rather than preordered as no money was taken. provided they get more units than reservations u should be good.
