iPhone 5s scuffgate?

I was wondering since some people have had their iphone 5s for a few days are there issues with scuff gate on the space grey 5s?

Considering you seem to be singling out the grey, when did you get yours? And how did you manage to scratch it so badly that you feel it has a "scuff gate"?

Ya know, Apple really needs to improve their products… turns out, if you take a key and scrape it with all your might a few dozen times on the surface of an iPhone, the dang thing will scratch! Who wants to join me in a class action law suit?

The classiest action lawsuit there is!

Clearly he doesn't have the phone himself... Which is why he was asking. Geez. And I imagine he is singling out the space gray because it is very similar to the slate color of the 5 which was very prone to scuffs and scratches.

To answer your question OP, I dropped mine today pretty hard and not a scuff or scratch to be found. The same drop would have definitely scratched my slate 5.

I don't have one, I do have a black iPhone 5 and considering it scratches easily from what I've heard (aka scuff gate, aka not my phrase just what it's been called all over the internet) I'm asking people who currently own a iPhone 5s is the space grey color holding up better than the black slate? I'm not trying to get in an argument with people over the word gate, I'm trying to figure out if anyone has had issues as of yet.

Thank you for your response that is all I am wondering.

The OP asked a genuine question which is of interest to many potential 5S owners only to be ridiculed. It took until post 24 to get a sensible response.

Also the video posted was created using "prototype" rear shells before release. It's not really relevant in a thread asking about real world 5S experience.

Pretty poor.

Picture taken in an apple store today. The silver under the spacegrey becomes visible. I don´t think it will be different with the golden one.

This doesn't look great around the lightning connector and on the back edge.

Hopefully we'll hear from other owners.

Worst? Really? It's actually a valid question. If you don't like the thread you don't have to comment. Be positive or be silent.

"Be positive or be silent"

Haha ok...

Also my phone has only scuffed gated slightly. Not scuffed, but scuff gated.my car is also only a bit scratch gated, and I was also a little late to work today. It turned out to be referred to as late gate. I don't think I'm going to be late gating again tomorrow, otherwise known as tomorrow gate.

Gate gate gate...

Thank you for nothing.

I completely agree.

This is why the forum is, so people can get their queries sorted out by other people facing same or similar issues and not getting ridiculed.

iPhone 5s scuffgate?

This is probably answered in several paces but can't find one.
Here's my question:
What is a gate?
I see scuff gate, gate this, gate that. I don't know what that means on this forum. I been in this forum for a longtime but still never learned what gate means.

Get in line I already have one going. Turns out I cant put it in my pocket with a selection on coins, sea shells and some wite wool without it being horribly damaged at the end of my busy day doing assault courses.

I expected a far more durable phone. This would never happen if Apple had made an all glass or plastic phone ...

It harks back to Nixon and the Watergate Hotel scandal.

So if theres a scandal its something-gate.

Totally overused

I still don't understand. Put it in dummy terms for me:)

I went to a store today and did a scratch test on all 3 colours.

Space grey show some wear on the edges, followed by gold and least showing on silver.

As long as they use aluminium, it will scuff.
