Try restoring as a new phone.

That will reinstall your apps rather than just copy potentially-broken versions from a backup.

It'll be the first thing a Genius insists you do, so you might as well do it before heading to the Genius Bar.

I wonder if this could be an isolated hardware problem, maybe a few lemon iPhones out there?

That would scare the hell out of me if I saw that happen on mine.

My iPhone was started as new.... but it hasn't happened since!

WOW @ the amount of people this is happening to. Can we get this posted on MacRumors' front page so it can bring more attention to the issue?

I edited the thread title so if other people are experiencing this too, they can find it easily :)

This happened to me after my first boot.

I forgot what app I tapped but it was the first app I tried to open on the 5S and it just went to that blue screen and restarted. I haven't seen it since.

Had the same thing happen to me this morning. Weird thing was that I had unlocked my phone when I woke up around 8am, responded to an iMessage, then locked the phone. About and hour later, I unlocked my phone and opened twitter, and the phone blue screened and rebooted itself. When the phone turned back on, I received three text messages that had been sent to me hours earlier, before the iMessage that I had already read and responded to.

the blue screen with verticle lines happend to me on my iPhone 5. it was definitley a hardware problem, no amount of restores or updates fixed it. apple replaced it right away.

I've also experienced the blue screen the above poster has made a video of. This first happened to me while watching a YouTube video. I was able to restore and setup as new for about 4 hours and then it happened again while responding to an iMessage. Now the screen stays blue and also flashes red no matter what I do. Can't even put into dfu and do another restore because the red/blue screen comes right back before the computer can even recognize the phone. I'm going to apple tomorrow for a replacement.

just happened to me this morning using an app called PDF Expert

I REALLY dont want to return my GOLD 64gb.......high probability it'll be gone at the store anyways

Updating from iOS 7.0 to 7.0.2 and praying this fixes the issue!

THIS REALLY BITES!!!

Spoiler Alert

it doesn't fix it.

It happened to me last night. Just slowly scrolling through my Facebook feed, I didn't have any apps running in the back, when all of sudden my 5s cuts off and goes to a blue screen with red like pixelated vertical lines which led to the automatic system reboot or respring. Is there no other information about what this means or how to prevent it from happening. I'm worried it will happen and not come back on when I need the phone the most.

I had that same thing happen on my iPhone 5 while using the built in camera app with one of the iOS 7 betas. Don't remember which one now, but it was shortly before GM was released.

Never saw it again on the iPhone 5 and haven't seen it on my new 5S.

I was able to reproduce the BSOD 100% using my PDF Expert app.

Every time I open a PDF, then close the APP it blue screens.

However, if I open the app, but dont open any PDFs, and I close the app, its working fine.

I tested this also on my iphone 4, also running 7.0.2 as the 5S, and no BSOD.

What do you guys thing?

iOS issue or hardware?

Should I exchange it?

It's just creepy looking.

This is happening to me with ESPN Scorecenter and with Numbers

I posted a video

http://youtu.be/EY83wURZYZY

I find it odd that its happening with numbers since it's an Apple app. And I had the phone replaced but still having the same problem with the replacement. full story here:

this is what happens when you release a half baked OS! I am pretty annoyed at Apple for releasing this crap...and now mad at them cause they do not allow you to downgrade back to 6.1.3...
