I know this is not android forum, but I did mention iphone 5s :p

so....my budget can only afford

iphone 5s or samguns galaxy s6

i WILL have to use that phone for at least 2 years from now...

i like iOS but, within 2 years, 5s will be more than 4 years old since its launch.

Its like still using 4s right now on 2015(almost 2016)

on the other hand , samsung s6 just launched this year.

I am okay with both OS, which one should I go for?

I know you'd say it personal preference, but I said I am okay with both.

Considering resale value after 2 years and quality that will last me 2 years, which one do you suggest I should go for?

I bought my Samsung S5 when it was a brand new shiny toy. 11 months later I was so glad to get rid of it and get back to an iPhone. And it lost considerably more value than an iPhone would have over that time...

I'd get the iPhone 5s, and plan on selling it next year to upgrade to a 6 or 6s.

not possible my budget says I need to stick to the same phone for at least 2 years...which is the only reason I am not ded set on iphone 5s

You can't ask questions like that here, I did once and got a warning from the moderators for trolling by giving some positive points for android over Apple.

Be careful.

Not sure where you live, but I'd probably buy a used iPhone 6 over either one of them. Buy from a place like Gazelle... about $375.

Otherwise, choosing between Android and iOS is a personal preference and the two systems are substantively different. I used Android for 6 months earlier this year and was the most frustrating time in my technological life. I'd decide on which ecosystem you want to be a part of first, and then go with that. The 5s is still a very good phone... just passed mine down to my wife and she is happy with it.

I just left Android after being with it for 2 years and while I did enjoy some of it. What I didn't care for was the "When will I get the new update?" which is what I loved about the iPhone, when there was an update...EVERYONE got the update. Not depending on which carrier you are on and only then after they added their bloat they will then release it to you. I had the Galaxy S6 and I loved it for the most part. the battery life was ridiculous, but I always carried a charger with me.

I would get the s6. Latest processor, incredibly good camera even bettet than the 6s plus one. And the screen is awesome. Not to mention fastcharge and wireless charging. The 5s is 2 ears old so i wouldnt pay that much for a 5s.

Both of the phones are good, its all about the OS you prefer.
Dont worry that the 5s is "old", still great phone! and for sure will get support\updates the next 2 years (look for how long they support the 4s).

If you go Android, i would go with Nexus 5x, at list you'll get clean OS and updates on time...

Of the two, it's obvious that the s6 is the better choice if you will be keeping it for 2 years. Bigger better screen, fast charging, excellent camera, up to date processor and soon to be updated to Marshmallow. I had an s6 edge and I really liked it. The 5S is still a brilliant phone (I got one for my mother) but is outdated and in my opinion, not the phone to buy if you are keeping it for 2 years

I wouldn't buy a phone with an OLED display. Burn-in would frustrate the heck out of me and if you're a heavy user you could suffer it after a matter of weeks. Plus Samsung phones always lag and have battery life issues around the 9-12 month mark. If going Android and you intend keeping it for two years then I'd avoid Samsung.

But if you are committed to the Apple ecosystem, ANY Android phone will create tremendous friction.

You clearly haven't used an S6 that is older than a few months then.

Since you posted this on an Apple forum, it's clearly going to be biased.

Unless you are heavily invested in the Apple ecosystem or have a strong love for iOS, the S6 is the clear winner here. You are comparing a phone that is already 2.5 years old to one that is just a few months old with vastly superior specs.

The S6 is faster, much better camera, larger and higher quality display, superior Samsung Pay, more RAM, more storage, better WiFi and mobile data connectivity, etc.

Galaxy S6 hands down. Once you go quick charge and wireless charging you'll never go back. Seriously, it's night and day over the 5s.

First and foremost it comes down to size. You'll like carrying the 5s and looking at the S6. Only you know which is more important. I, too, would look at a used iPhone 6 to compare with the S6. Then ecosystem becomes more of a factor. With your current options, size will trump all performance tradeoffs once you start using it.

Seriously... Get the 5s. Put away $10/month in your sock drawer. At the end of a year, sell the 5s, take the $120 you saved without missing it, and upgrade to a 6 or 6s.

I bought the flagship Samsung last year shortly after it was released. Was so happy to ditch it after a year that I had switched to an iPhone 4 (not 4s) with a battery that lasted for half a day for the last 2 weeks while I tried to sell the S5. Took a bath on the S5, because, well, it's Android. Even with $150 worth of accessories (wireless charging back, pucks, 64GB microSD card) still ended up selling it for $200 less than an iPhone 6, which was released at the same time for about the same price.

What do you need the phone for most? That might help determine the best fit. What are you using now?

I'd rather have a 5S than an iPhone 6. Heck, I'd rather have an S6. The iPhone 6 Series is the one to miss.
