are they also counting people like myself who have gone from an iPad to a Windows 8.1 Tablet, i jump from an iPad Mini to a Lenvo Mix 10 (which was around 1.3rd the price of the ipad mini) and haven't looked back, having a full PC which lets me run the office suite, as well as kindle app etc utterly broke my usage of the ipad mini, battery life is around the same,

Its not just larger screen phones that are canabilizing the iPads, its the fact that apple hasnt seen the light and made a Macbook AirPad, Full osx touchscreen device with removable keyboard.

Same. I sold my iPad Air, kept the retina Mini and bought myself a Surface Pro 3. It can do far more than any iPad can, has a keyboard that detaches and becomes a tablet.

My local news did a story about how sales on iPads are down and more people are going for these kinds of tablets like the Surface Pro 3. Almost the entire time, they showed the Surface Pro 3.

This may be true for younger readers who still have perfect eyesight. The 10" ipad is the perfect form for me to read and do other things despite my recent purchase of an iphon6. The phone is still a very versatile device for many things in a convenient form factor, but as a reader, I don't believe it will ever replace the ipad. Apple had studied the reader format for a long time before they plunged in. People(most) don't realize that the 8x10 ratio is not a coincidence as the perfect replica of textbooks. Try that on an Android device, you will see black bands in either horizontal or vertical position.

This is true. MS may have stumbled upon the legacy again when carried over to tablet format. Older people who are accustomed to running things on a PC find familiarity with this. As far as capability goes, the myriads of test did not show such difference in speed. What about apps on the Surface Pro 3? What apps are we talking about? Almost absent!

I honestly don't see the point of the iPad for most people. Or at least not for me.

I have an iPhone. I have a MBP. They're both technically portable, and an iPad doesn't have internet everywhere unless I both pay more for the device and for the cellular plan (which isn't gonna happen). What good's the iPad?

I'm really surprised there hasn't been a revolt over the iPhone 6+ yet.

Due to the way Apple setup the screen, it is impossible to generate pixel perfect graphics for the device (there is no 1:1 pixel mapping between @3x graphics and the screen). Many developers have opted to forego creating @3x assets for their applications because of this, instead relying on existing @2x files instead (which appear slightly more blurry then they should).

Apple really ****ed the iPhone 6+ over in software. I wouldn't be surprised if they're going to have to make @3x graphics support mandatory in the future to force developers to do something about it, because everyone has basically elected to ignore the device and hope it goes away.

There's no revolt because apps and their content look great on the 6+.

For casual reading, yes, my iphone 6plus is excellent - crisp, and the added real estate makes for pleasant light reading. For serious study, i use my nexus 7 (sold my ipad 3 prior to the air-2 coming out), was contemplating on getting an ipad air-2, however, the nexus 7 is actually not a bad device for light use, hate the os, graphics are not bad and it does not feel much heavier than the iphone - given it is not fit-able in my pockets.

I like the way you think...

There's also an element of "newest, shiniest device" though. When I got my iPhone, I started using that more. Then I bought an iPad Air, which I used for everything. Next week I'm getting a new MacBook Pro, which I'll use more..

My set up is iPhone 6, original iPad Mini, MBA 2011. Next month, I'm going to get a 21" iMac or Mac Mini. The iPad Mini's A5 16GB is showing it age (slow & cracked screen) and have used it much less since I got my iPhone 6 128Gb, 2011 MBA 128GB I still love it, but often have to delete item for OS upgrades. The 21" iMac or Mac Mini w/24" tv would reside on the kitchen counter of my loft.
The microwave died which has afforded me this valuable space, it could not have happened at a better time!:D

This is not a surprise at all. I bet the Mini is bearing the brunt of this, too. Goes to show why Apple did barely anything with the Mini this year.

I admittedly use my 6 more often now than I did with my 5s, but that's because the "newness" hasn't worn off yet. My rMini hasn't seen much use recently, but I'm sure that will change.
