iPhone 6 battery issues dont know where to start

I have an iPhone 6 as well. My contract just expired in December but I am waiting for the 8 to arrive in the fall to upgrade.
This has happened to me a few times. I believe this comes down to a software glitch with iOS 10 as it did not happen prior to this release.
Upgrade iOS if you have not done it to the latest, 10.2 release. Back up your phone to iTunes or Cloud then erase the phone through General > Settings > Erase. This will do exactly that, erase the phone and place the phone back to factory default. Restore the phone from back up. The issue should be resolved.

Another issue I am experiencing is I routinely got ~ four days of battery life on my phone. Now, over the past couple of months I am getting barely three. My wear level on my battery is good, sitting at 11%. My Applecare just expired so it'll be full cost to replace the battery but I would rather wait nine months for the iPhone 8. It's irritating but my behaviors with the phone have not changed to cause this drop in battery life. I am suspicious of another software 'bug,' this one being intention by Apple, since my phone is now > two years.

Hope it helps.

Im sitting at 69% right now after listening to downloaded music(no data) and reading a book on the bus for about an hour. That is quite paltry battery performance if you ask me

Ok this is ridiculous. My battery has dropped to 35% on this bus ride and all I did was listen to saved music, browse Facebook and Tapatalk and download one app

Dropped another 10% down to 24%. Got to work and plugged into the charger and it instantly jumped to 42%
As someone mention way back at beginning, you battery is toast. No further reports are required, just replace the battery. Only other alternative is to turn off battery percentage reporting. But then what would consume your life then?

Hahaha I'm still alive!! Got to work and threw it ok the charger. I guess I'm more wondering if it's a software thing and if a new battery will fix it. I'll try a restore/wipe tonight.

I really appreciate your advice gang. I'm glad there is a support system like this here

Trust us, it's not software. Mophie sells battery cases, and we didn't think you had died, only your phone. Good luck

If your iPhone 6 is in need of a battery replacement before September 2017, I believe Apple charges $79.00 for a replacement. It would at least hold you until then.

I'm going to just get a battery and replace it myself. My wife already wants the 8 so I will eventually get her 7 so I'm trying to put as little money as possible into the phone.

Anyone use the ifixit battery?

I haven't use the ifixit, but they make a nice kit from my understanding.

Cool beans. I'm checking out Amazon too. I'll have to check the forum to find some user experience with good replacement parts suppliers. I need a screen with quality adhesive too

If Amazon doesn't have what you need, ifixit will. Just be Leary of some of the Amazon products and read the reviews before purchasing.

For the 10th time in this thread, your battery is done. It has nothing to do with software. Once a battery drops below 20% wear, it becomes unstable. That is exactly what you are experiencing. New battery is your only option if you don't want to carry a power bank with you 24/7.

That's a pretty high battery wear, my iphone 6 is at 6.4%

Get the battery replaced or do it yourself. Not going to comment on that part of the discussion but I will say I had the exact same problem a year ago with my iPhone 6 - just over a year old at the time and running ios 9 so it was not a OS issue. I also did the wipe and reinstall from scratch and it didn't help. It was a defective battery plain and simple. In my case it was under warranty so Apple took care of it.
