Apple began accepting pre-orders for the iPhone 6 on Friday, September 12th. The first of those orders are beginning to ship to customers. Verizon sent notices to customers today with tracking numbers for their early orders.

Despite the early shipping, FedEx will hold shipments for simultaneous delivery on launch day -- Friday, September 19th. Despite the coordinated effort, some new iPhones may slip through and arrive a day early or so.

Readers on our forums are tracking their shipments and order status in various threads:

- The "I just bought/ordered/shipped/received my new iPhone 6/6 Plus" thread
- iPhone 6 & 6 Plus Sprint Pre-Order Thread!
- T-Mobile.com preorder thread
- ATT Pre-order status

This is how people know you have no life you get up in the middle of the night to order a ****ing phone then you spend hours refreshing pages and cursing and then you tell the world about it.

Next stage delivery tracking. Jesus Christ...

Anyone else getting an error saying "We are experiencing system issues, please try again later." upon clicking Order Status on Verizon?

It always seems like a tiny portion of people get shipping notices shortly after ordering. I wonder what scenario has to take place to get a shipment notification email so soon. Obviously, ordering as soon as the preorders start is important. I finished my order at 2:57am EST (site let me in early for some reason). I would assume I would be relative high up on the list. No email yet.

EDIT: Received an email from Verizon at 4:18pm with tracking number!

I wonder if mine will require signature at the door. Because i'm gonna be away from home that day at work

Ya it will require a signature, but you can "presign". Once it ships, go to your order and look for where it has a link to presign. You print out a form, hang it on your front door by 8am and they will leave the phone where you specify. Of course I think this probably takes liability off of them and on to you if it has disappeared from your doorstep by the time you get home.
