Good afternoon, I'm new here, recently i got a iphone 6 bought in Japan, however, after it, i found that in japan yhe smartphones comes from the factory without the option to mute the shutter sound of the camera, makes a mega noise, I wonder if there is some way to resolve this without having to do Jeilbreak. Thank you!

This is a Japanese iPhone. It does not honor the mute switch in regard to the camera shutter.

Exactly, but this is so bad...I want to resolve this issue.
Two options…sell the phone and get a new one or jailbreak.

If neither are a viable option then you're going to have to live with it. It's a regional thing hardcoded in the firmware. The only reason jailbreaking lets you turn it off is because it's a sound file that you can make unavailable - the process otherwise functions.

Maybe there's some developers here to help me lol ☺️ Jeilbreak is a bad option.
How do you think 'some developers here to help' would go about helping you?

To get to the file system they'd have to find and use exploits to elevate permissions that allow access to the file system.

What is that but jailbreaking?

Yes, there's nothing you can do to that iPhone apart from jailbreaking. Nobody can help you except to provide a jailbreak.

This is unfortunately why you buy non Japanese iPhones for use in Japan. Dat shutter sound (ugh) (and even taking a screenshot triggers it!). FYI, Non Japanese phones can fetch an extra $200+ on online auction sites...

Probably because they want to take someone's picture without their knowledge.....

I'm sure that's a reason for some, but personally I prefer that my phone is silent unless I'm watching something or listening to music. My phone is on DND for about half the day and I've got the ringer toggled off and the volume all the way down for the other half.

So man, sometimes we have to take a picture in a local with silence, the sound is very high, really bothered.

Japan mandates that their cellphones have always on shutter sounds because of a widespread issue with voyeurism. You could always cover the speaker with one of your fingers.

I'm genuinely curious why some people are bothered by the shutter sound. Personally it's not an issue for me and it doesn't bother me.

Say, someone gives a talk and instead of copying all the references by hand you want to take a picture, that's what many people do these days.
Hearing shutters while listening to a talk is annoying as hell.
