Of course it isn't and you would be naive to expect it to be! In a 4 years there are technology advancement made possible that weren't before and the latest OS always takes advantage of the latest technology. And to be honest I don't miss any of the features left out of iOS 7 on iPhone 4, they are not a dealbreaker for me (maybe airdrop but since I can't use it yet with my mac it's a bit of useless)

Things like Siri not being available for the iPhone 4, Apple said some rubbish about how the Microphone on the 4 wasn't clear enough for Siri to understand you, which was odd considering the siri app worked fine on it, and after jailbreaking my old 4 it ran Siri just fine. When old Android devices got updated to 4.1 they all got Google Now, they got every feature 4.1 brought.

I'd say he ignored your "point" because it's ridiculous. It is unreasonable to expect a 4 year old phone to do everything a brand new phone can do, and so to state that it "isn't the full OS" is inflammatory trolling garbage. You make it sound like Apple is taking away critical functionality, but that couldn't be further from the truth. In reality, new phones get all the new stuff and old phones get only some new stuff; it's a win for everyone.

I'll give you this one, as dropped Safari tabs is one of the biggest reason to increase iPhone RAM, but you're making it sound like you have dozens of examples. I only see one.

I didn't say I had dozens of examples, I said I constantly ran into problems because most of what I did on my phone outside of messaging, was use the web browser. I also disliked having apps I like open being binned from memory, obviously this got better as I went from 128, to 256, to 512 and finally 1GB of Memory for phones. But I really think 2GB should be the sweetspot for now, Android has been on it for a while, Blackberry 10 went onto 2GB of RAM. Even the flagship Windows phones have made the jump to 2GB, and windows phone runs buttery smooth on low end hardware. I would hope iPhone makes the jump to 2GB soon.

I point out these updates lacking features on older phones because its the first thing people mention in relation to Android updates. Bragging on about how their phone runs "the latest version". I feel like saying congratulations, your version number in settings has a higher number, but almost none of the features. Android phones may be slower to update, and quicker to abandon old handsets, but when you get a update, you get everything.

Can't wait until this beats everyone on benchmarks with 1GB of ram, LOL.

Do you even know what more ram is used for? Do you think it's for speed in benchmarks? It's for running more applications at the same time! It's for true multitasking!

1Gb of Ram? Really? If I'm buying a 5.5 inch model I'm doing it for the true multitasking side by side on a split screen. You can't do true multitasking with 1Gb of Ram.

Well, you better go buy a Note then... Not because the iPhone will only have 1 GB of ram, but because Apple has never shown any interest in split screen multitasking, even on the larger iPads. I have no idea why you'd assume a large iPhone would have it.

In the last couple of years, almost all rumors about iPhone and iPad had been quite spot on.

You're mixing up leaked images of the exterior casing with specifications.

1 GB RAM? Seriously?

?

I thought that must be a typo. Other makers are even considering moving from the standard on 2 gb to even 3 now. 1gb is just to skimpy I guess to keep the overall cost down. That may have cinched my decision against this pone right there.

It's still very skimpy and 2gb would make for a smoother experience regardless of what you may have been led to believe.

Lies and propaganda!

Maybe those figures are true of a new device, but the batteries in iPhones seem to degrade quickly. My 15-month old iPhone 5 wouldn't last anything like 8 hours of continuous browsing on 3G, much less LTE. I suspect I'd be very lucky to get 4 hours.

Did you check out the battery guide I linked to at the bottom of my post?

Yes, I have heard that and also I have seen Siri run on jailbroken iPhone 4! Thing is, you or I don't know for sure and all we can do is speculate!! It probably wouldn't been able to work at Apple's expectation. Or marketing point for 4S!
All Android devices got all the features of 4.1?? Every feature?? You got to be kidding me right? Even these phones without NFC? Please.... :D

Yes, that's all good advice.

I have background app refresh turned off (globally), I usually keep the brightness somewhere below 50%, and I try to remember to turn off WiFi and Bluetooth when not in use, and those things do help.

Another thing that bugs me is how my iPhone 5 will quite often shut down when the battery meter still claims ~20 or 30% of battery remaining. Initially I thought this was an iOS 7.0 bug that was fixed in 7.1, but it's started doing it again :(

I know the batteries will naturally degrade over time, but I also have an iPad 2 (bought on literally the first day) which is years older, used every day, and still gets amazing battery life. And amazingly it gets all the way down to 0% before it dies!

Im not referring to hardware features, or I'd have said earlier iPhones cant do airdrop. But they cant due to the outdated wireless chip. Im referring to software features, why I mentioned Siri.

"Other manufacturers" are using Android, which uses Java; Java needs LOTS of RAM, as it's an interpreted language (it needs a translation layer in realtime) whereas Cocoa/Obj-C are *compiled*. Java is why stupid CPU & RAM specs are needed for Android. You don't know much about Objective C, BSD and Apple frameworks, do you? Maybe I am wrong, and you do...

PS: For the NFC crowd; NFC = "Noone Flippin' Cares"

PPS: You may also wish to research "thread safety", which explains why Android needs all this crazy RAM and CPU power:

It really sounds like you either have a defective battery or have subjected it to excessive heat, which is the worst thing you can do for a battery.

Do we really need an "Ultra thin" body?
How about a reasonable thickness, say leaving it at it's current thickness, in order to allow for a bigger battery and to make it more comfortable to hold?
This thinness at all costs design philosophy is getting ridiculous.
Ives won't be happy until the iPhone is as thin as a razor blade.

Ignore the rumours and "concepts" my friend; Apple are not stupid :)

But as you very well know, software rely heavily on a hardware. If the hardware don't meet the software requirements then you end up with a poor results. How do you think Google would determine what feature a certain Android device is capable and what feature is not? There are hundreds of them! It's simple, they create an update that includes everything and push it to hardware manufactures or carriers. Now how well everything works on extremely fragmented platform is another story! For me it has never been "My phone can do this and my phone can do that" For me it's simply how well it does it. Apple does have it's own failures, however they are well known to master the hardware-software integration that results in the user experience we know.

No, but you can send her into the world to find someone who isn't as shallow, allowing her to feel more valued as a person. ;)

It was a joke. Lighten up.

I wish this race to paper thin would stop, and put a much larger battery in. The tiny batteries are no longer acceptable in 2014. Come on apple, make the iPhone be able to last all day with heavy use!

Even worse, you can't even run single apps properly with 1 GB of RAM. Safari crashes when zooming on pictures, tabs reloading all the time.

If anything, Apple is stalling the progress in technology and software with their gimped incremental upgrades (or lack of upgrades).

I'd bet my bottom dollar that iPhone 6 is smoother than a Samesung G5. Never had safari crash ever.

Hey did you hear Samesung pays people to post negative comments on Apple websites?

At least those folk are getting something for their time.. you're posting negative things on a website for no personal gain at all.. seems they are the ones coming out on top..

Ps.. you've never had safari crash... Mmm.. well I suppose someone wins the lottery every week as well.. and those odds are massive as well..
