I really want to hop on your bandwagon. But if these details are true (antenna bands, protruding camera ring, round sides) it doesn't look good.

I for one disliked the round sides of the first iPhone. Very slippery without a case.

But hey, I am hoping for the best.
I can't say the antenna bands bother me at all. It is what is on the screen for me primarily, although its nice to have an aesthetically pleasing piece of product design to admire too, and these aren't offensive for my tastes. I'm sure Apple will find a away of making it look as though it is there for the benefit of it appearance and having seen many supposed leaks, some have bands, some don't so I think we will find out for sure in 2 or 3 weeks. I won't worry about it and will look forward to upgrading next month :)

I think it will sell like hotcakes and set records by outselling all previous versions of the iPhone

Cannot see that. There are many of us waiting for a normal sized smartphone, its almost here in the 4.7/5.5. But I see the form factor being the worst in class. It will be the biggest 4.7/5.5 out there due to the symmetry policy Apple has, the top and bottom bezels have to be the same size, which will equal 1" of vertical size, plus the screen.

Many want a 4" phone, read the threads. They MISS OUT.

Should have been 3 models, 4, 4.8, 5.5. Not Apple, yes, but thats what the public want. Least efficient production , but maximum sales, plus next year on they will know the right production mix.

I see cheers and I see boos from the two size markets

It seems apparent to me that many people will buy the next iPhone regardless of what it looks like and regardless of the size. For a high-priced item that sure seems odd to me! My next phone will be the right size for my requirements and it will be aesthetically pleasing. Whether it's running iOS or not is yet to be decided, but these leaks look terrible. Why have the screen sticking up from the sides so much? That screen edge will be a magnet for scratches and nicks. I can only think that Apple have done this to give the impression that the phone is thinner than it actually is. The antenna breaks look nasty, and I'm not a massive fan of curved edges. I'll admit that the iPhone 4/4S/5/5S square box design was getting old, but I still hate rounded edges!
Then there's the protruding camera. Hate that. I've avoided phones over the years which have sticking out cameras and I thought they were firmly in the past. What a stupid idea just to save a couple of millimetres' thickness!

I think the iPhone 6 looks pretty amazing based on the images and I also believe it will be selling incredibly well.

My requirements is the phone does what I need it to do. I'm less worried about the way it looks. All this negativity about a phone and o/s that hasn't been released. Frankly I trust apple enough to know the new phone is going to be a hit,

Whether I get one or not is based on what the phone does relative to the incremental over the 5s. I think I may actually be a little excited over this new model. I admit the last few iPhone generations are the best looking phones out there, so apple has a big bar to go after.

All of the leaks so far have one thing in common: round sides. So I think this is the only part that we can be sure the iPhone 6 will have. I personally am not a fan of the rounded sides. I have an iPod Touch 5G and it is indeed a bit difficult to grip, I find that it occasionally slips from my hand. Regarding the protruding camera, I just noticed the camera on the iPod Touch 5G is the same.

In my honest opinion, I already find that the leaked components look better than the iPhone 5(S).

Also, remember we've not seen an actual assembled device. The original iPhone 5 design leaks looked even more awful than what was actually released.

EDIT Oh, and I like that it's not a 'square' design. Don't get me wrong, the iPhone 4 + 5 feel like high-end devices, but the original iPhone, iPhone 3G(S) and iPhone 5C feel so much better in the hand.

That where i think Apple might keep the 5S as is this time around, but at a lower price for those that don't want a a larger smartphone and there be alot out there that won't.

The iPhone 6 is going to be a big phone, with a relative small screen compared to the latest Android phones, both the Moto X & the new Samsung Galaxy Alpha have managed to fit a 4.7" screen into a body that not much bigger than the current 5S.

If anything Apple needs to ditch the symmetry lark they seem to stick by.

I think the lines on the back look horrendous, although I don't mind the protruding camera. No matter whether the phone looks good in my opinion, it's getting a case anyway though lol, so I guess in the end it doesn't really matter... I just like to take the case off every once and awhile and admire that the phone actually looks good, rather than trying to hide the back because I think it looks ugly. (Like I do with my Galaxy S4 atm, I think the pattern on the black rear cover, and that it's plastic, etc looks gross so I cover my phone and rarely take the case off)

I really am just crossing my fingers that it has glass where the lines are, even though it probably isn't happening... I love that design aspect of the 5/5S :/

I agree

What I wanted was:

5S design, the sharp edges and metal are just pure design quality
4.7 or 5.5 with reduced top and bottom bezel to avoid oversize

Rounded teardrop edges, big bottom and top bezels make this phone far too large for its screen size and not pretty. I am an annual upgrader, not keen now at all.

Having looked at countless leaks ect, it's pretty much assured the iPhone 6 is going to have bands and a protruding camera lens.

Now since the iPhone 4 the design has always been one of it's strong points and the 5S is to most considered the best looking iPhone, if not one of the best looking smartphone to date.

Now with the iPhone 6 it seems design has taken a back seat somewhat, with it's antenna bands and protruding camera and will be considered ugly to most, more so those fashion folks that consider the iPhone as some sort of style statement rather than a smartphone.

To some people the look of the phone is actually more important than the specs, and if the iPhone 6 does end up looking like a large ugly beast, then sales once the diehards ect has got theirs could potentially start to slump, opting rather for the cheaper smaller & better looking 5S if Apple decide to keep the 5S as is.

So what do you think?

I think the same has been said of every iPhone since the 4.

It'll look great and be great. And they'll sell more of them than anyone has ever sold of any other smartphone.

Crappy leaked photos is all we have so far. Let's wait until we have good pictures of the actual phone released.

This. Bad light pictures taken with a blurry camera shouldn't be a judge of design. Once Apple releases it's shiny renders officially, then we can make a call on it.

That being said,I am feeling unsure about the prospect of protruding lens. I've had a few issues with my last phone before my iphone 5C (nexus 5) with the lens being scratched easily because it protudes from the body of the phone.

LOL

This is one of those superficial complaint threads that usually produces those endless "Apple doom and gloom" and "tried Android briefly out of boredom but came running back to iPhone" threads. Pointless.
Both will remain strong with flaws or not.

Camera protrudes? Yes, Apple wanted it thinner like the Gionee Elife S5.5 but the lens somehow protrudes. Buy a case which is a norm for iPhone users. Problem solved.

The leaked iPhone 4 images from Gizmodo were deemed ugly at first. Still sold in record numbers after Antennagate. The recycled 4s still sold faster even with the shatter-prone glass rear design and edgy sides.

The iPhone 5 images were not always favorable at first with the repositioned headphone jack, lightning connector change, and Scruffgate. Still sold in record numbers.

The iPhone 5s gold option was labeled the Kardashian iPhone. Some posters found it tacky or too bling bling BEFORE it was officially announced. Became one of the most popular color options ever that Samsung and many others followed suit with gold options. I personally find the champagne gold 5s the best-looking iPhone ever and the first to convert me to white front panels. The space gray has the uglier home button and I grew tired of the fingerprint magnet, black iPhones altogether.

The flat iOS7 look was called ugly like a My Little Pony theme for pre-teens last year. It became one the fastest adopted updates ever and grew on alot of people that even other Android OEM's followed suit for their latest custom skins. It's still not one of my favs, but I still find it quite nice and find it more catered to white panel iPhones. Going back to Forstall's skeumorphic design of iOS6 and prior with less fancy animation effects now starts to look very dated.

Apple went from mini sim to micro to nano in three years. People bought adaptors and just adapted.

We all get accustomed to changes. That's how technology (and life) works. Form factors change. Habits change. Needs and wants change. People change. Even our "ideal" screen sizes changes. Last year, 4.7 inches is my sweet spot. Then I rethought it over and told myself why give up many advantages of a bigger display and better model by being bothered by larger physical dimensions with less than 10mm in difference? I have a limit to dimensions, but now 5.5 inches seems reasonable enough if done right like the LG G3.

Next year when the 6s with a rehashed design gets better innards, it will still sell in record numbers. It's been nearly 3 years since Steve Jobs died, and the allure of Apple is still strong. With 100B cash, Apple can afford to make mistakes and still sell well. Apple services, ecosystem, marketing, good all-around specs like the camera and GPU. It's NOT just in aesthetics/superficial thing that keeps Apple selling iPhones in record numbers.

So what do you think?

I think it looks way better than all previous versions in that the design is more functional and will sell like crazy because they finally give people the display sizes they want.

I have thought the same things. I do not, however, think it will be any sort of a downfall- but rather a change and a progression. The 6s will be my buy, not the 6. The 5s truly is amazing. I love it. I love the 5s leather case. So I will continue to enjoy it despite new and improved 6 (which most android users will buy for their next upgrade - that is its purpose, IMO).

Jony and his team will not design something that looks like crap. It will be functionally brilliant, i'm sure. But it will be so much better in a year.

Unless it's absolutely atrocious (which it won't be), I could care less. I just don't understand/get on board with the people who place a great amount of stock in the aesthetic beauty of their phone. It's mostly nit-picking anyway.

Well, I couldn't care less! :D
