Hey now, the line starts way back there, I’ve been waiting here since June.

:D

Haven't we all?

I think this year's release will be far bigger than last year. I was 6th in line and I got my spot at about 7pm the evening before. I may have to go straight from work this year....

Why should we dream of it? What difference would it make to you?
I have 30,000 shares of LQMT stock, at about $0.25 a share. I wouldn't mind seeing the stock price go up to, say, $25 a share.

Forget sapphire! Make the screen out of Liquidmetal.

Tell me you are joking? Bits flapping about? You think these things are just going to be thrown on top of each other? Have you ever even seen phone parts before? So many questions I have for you

Well, a smiley just made it less funny somehow :D

Does anyone else think that the metal looks different in some way, whether its a different material or its just anodised differently

I'm guessing the parts haven't been polished yet. Metal parts don't come out of their mold looking all pretty.

Excited!

I wonder what is happening with the 5.5 inch model. Are they producing so few of the larger phone none have leaked? Or production hasn't started because the launch dates will be staggered? Or these are controlled leaks and Apple have decided to keep us guessing until the last second. Or maybe, there's no 5.5 inch model.

Then again, Thailand just approved TWO iPhone 6 models, implying there will be two variations of the iPhone 6 for whatever reason.

Either way, I cannot wait for the event! :apple:

:D you are funny (y)

looks like the home button is really close to the edge. actually its outline is right by the edge of the phone...

good point. i think that adds some validity to the sapphire screen theory. That cant be made of glass. that little piece of glass that's left between the home button and the bottom edge is super thin. If that was glass it would break after being dropped 1 time. sapphire would make it strong enough to move the home button that close to the edge.

No, sapphire is more fragile, thus it would break even more easily.

Look at how close the ear piece speaker is to the display, when compared to the iPhone 5s. This clearly means less bezel on top (and most likely also on the bottom).

Yep, and the home button also seems to be RIGHT-ON-THE-EDGE. Points to a smaller bezel. That would be awesome.

Yeah they approved prolly the 4.7 iPhone 6 and the 4.0 6c

Everything looks so high quality and awesome :D
Is it normal for an Apple logo to be on the ribbon cable like that?

That is Tim "Doubling Down on Security." :apple:

Smart investment. Those parts do have a certain "new alloy" look to them, don't they? :apple:

Those tapered edges should sit essentially flush with the edges of the rounded rear shell, providing for a sleek, nearly seamless look and feel for the iPhone 6.

Good. The tapered/rounded glass edge "leaks" seem to be fairly consistent and plentiful. Probably the real deal. Getting sick of sharp edges, especially anodized aluminum sharp edges. First place the coating wears through. Larger-radius curves will resist wear-through much better since friction won't be focused on the same narrow spot all the time.

... iPhone 6 power button ...

... iPhone 6 mute switch ...

Finally, the set includes a high-quality photo of the SIM card tray, again showing the silver metal finish of the part.

One word: "Liquidmetal."
(???)

It would break on the way down instead of when it hits?

It really depends, we don't know what Apple has done with the Sapphire technology. It's harder, but yes, less flexible more brittle. to use for a screen they would have to employ some kind of layering technique with another material in which case we have no idea how resistant to shattering it may be.

I dont think APPLE bought a sapphire production facility to corner the market as this not their style. I think the are protecting the technology behind it through ownership. So probably not just plain old sapphire.

I think so, this is definitely *feels* like a more major release.

I generally just pre-order during the online chaos. We both skipped the 5S, so while the 5 has been pretty outstanding, this would be yet another speed bump (two gens in fact), plus adding TouchID, new [larger] display, new form factor, much improved camera and any as yet undisclosed surprises.

Yeah, pretty stoked

Since when is a Samsung home button round?

I think he might be confusing the home button with the photo of the power/sleep button[?]

Are you actually trying to control how I interact on a social forum?
If I want to sign my posts with a bloody D, then I'm going to.

As for the external antenna. It was a joke.

D.

Im going to start signing off with a K just to annoy him!

Or maybe it's being assembled in the US.

No sapphire is stronger due to 0 micro fractures in the panel. For example any other glass including gorilla glass scratches without too much trouble, and those are essentially micro fractures. If they use sapphire on the outside as a layer it could be stronger all around.
