Make that "a lot of people who dislike the design speak up about it". The complainers are always a vocal majority. Especially people who complain about lines that they don't even see while using the phone.

When they went from the rounded design of the 3GS to the "flat" design of the iPhone 4, there was also a lot of complaining. In the meantime, it turned around to the iPhone 4 being considered a "design masterpiece".

Luckily, I don't buy phones based on what they look like, as I actually use them, as opposed to them being fashion accessories. My phones go into a case anyway, so as far as I am concerned, they can add pink blinking LEDs to the back. I knew someone once who bought CDs and books purely based on their cover. Goes somewhat in the same direction for me as buying phones based on their design.

Agreed. Nicely said.

Er..No what you have just described there is EXACTLY the problem.

Flagship only and having to crowd source forum up dates. Geek hell.

Sony don't give a figs arse is the problem.

I wouldn't want to have to jump though hoops to do any sort of updates.

The biggest mistake google made with android was making it so fragmented and allowing Forceware crappola to be mandatory on a phone. If they have forced a stock android with Manufacturers only creating skins and overlay programs instead of messing with the source. Android world would be a lot nice place to be.

Its actually a lovely place to be. I love to mess around with things so Android is great for me. I'm using the 5S currently as I've bought so much on the Appstore since the first iPhone. Note 4 or 5.5 iPhone is my next stop. Not sure which way I'm going but leaning more back towards Android due to Android L being so freaking awesome.

I have no problem with the design, or the camera. I can't see any reason why it would bother me and I also never use a case. Im just not that bowled over by it really, so when my upgrade comes in Oct, i'll probably just upgrade to a 5s and save on the cost.

Like I say, i've no real problem with it, or how it looks, just not 'wowed' by it. It's just a bit 'mheh'.

These kinds of things remind me why I hate the mainstream.
I don't wanna sound like a hipster, but seriously why 5.5, who in the damn world has hands that big and can still use their phone with 1 hand. What happened to small and comfortable to use after taking it out of your pocket?

What ever happened to technology having to get smaller and smaller, why are we going in the opposite direction? only to realise later that we want things smaller again because it's all too big.

Is it so bad that others will now have a choice in what they buy? When did having options become a bad thing?

I really hope you're secretly Jony Ive, because if this gets released as it looks in all the leaks... I fear for Apple... This is their main product. Their bestseller... And if it looks like this... That's not good.

Remember, we haven't seen a leak of the rear casing with the imprinted "iPhone" text on the back yet- Apple is likely to put the chassis through some further finishing stages to give the device a more glamours look. As with every new design, people have their doubts at first. :apple:

Somehow I feel like I've been here before.

Remember my words. You will not only buy it, you will also love its design

The iPhone is mainstream.

If you don't like the big model don't buy it and get the smaller one. I don't understand why Apple giving it's customers a choice is such a big deal.

People are complaining because the "smaller one" is already a lot bigger than their current offering. Just sayin' ;)

I was thinking the same thing, who really needs a 5.5 inch screen on a phone.

Nobody. A 1" screen is more than enough for a phone. Actually, a phone wouldn't need a screen at all.

A pocket computer, now that's a different story. I don't think that there is anything "too big" for that. The only limit would be what you can carry with you. For me that would be somewhere around 6-7" with current designs.

Anyone notice the date bottom left corner...2014-2-12? Does that mean the bands might not be real!

Comparing reasons to call upon a higher power throughout the ages:

3000 BC: "Floods, earthquakes, locusts, famines... oh god..."

1000 AD: "Famines, plagues... oh god..."

1940 AD: "War, holocaust... oh god..."

2014 AD: "Protruding camera, white lines... oh god..."

LOL
Best post I'ver ever read here :D

I can't believe no one noticed this ...

Either these densigns are fake or the mockups are wrong because this design shows the sleep/wake button on the top.

Yukk.. Ugly camera lens and ugly antenna bands..iPhone 6 will be one ugly phone..design failure.
getting less and less interested in it..
Now please don't f-up the 12 inch Macbook Air.

Nice catch. Actually it's at the top AND the side!

and the one at the top is on the wrong side lol, i would say this is 100% fake.

look at the date in the bottom left corner 2014-2-12, this could be a very very early design or its total bs.

wow, this is the ugliest iPhone to day. I cant believe Apple choose to not make the phones 1 mm thicker to avoid the protruding camera. It is not like an additional 1 mm thickness would have any impact on the design, instead they came up with a design that is not only ugly but looks like an afterthought.
I was going to upgrade from my iPhone 5S as I really need a bigger screen, but this design is definitely no very appealing and it will make me think twice before I make a jump and upgrade - all of sudden most android and WP phones do not look half bad compare to this iPhone 6 crap.

I completely agree, this if true will be one of the ugliest designs of a modern smart phone among any major manufacturer.
There is no way to defend protruding lens design nor those bands.

I can't believe no one noticed this ...

Either these densigns are fake or the mockups are wrong because this design shows the sleep/wake button on the top.

Maybe the prototype 1 and 2 had the button in different places.

The 4.7 version is a bit longer than my Nexus 5 (1mm or so) and a bit narrower and thinner. I like it. The 5.5 version though... I was considering it, but it's damn huge. No thanks.

I dig on this design, including the bands and the little camera bezel.

Having been involved with/in/around design/designers for a long time, I guess I tend to gravitate towards new ideas (the Audi “chin”, color/material trends in clothing/homes, etc.)

Date.. Couldn'n this be a test?

Dosent it say 2014.2.12 down in the left corner?
And will it then be a chance that is is just a test model/design, not the final product?

As long as there is purpose to the protruding camera I will live with it I.e small optical zoom, allow additional lenses to be attached etc.

Or it could be that apple have a really cool case that lies flush with the camera?
