Can anyone imagine a usecase for a programmable power button? I have no idea in what cases this could be useful.

We've already seen that the glass covering in prototypes is not sapphire, and it's already been reported that the sizes will most likely be 16GB, 64GB, and 128GB...

So Ming is just regurgitating rumors/the obvious.

As someone who cleans the camera before every use - a scratch proof lens is a must.

Here's hoping that 128gb finally is an offered storage option. Don't see the need for a 16gb any longer.

Stopped reading when i saw "analyst." Their guesses aren't any better than anyone else's on this forum.

I don't think that he's addressing the sapphire camera lens cover, I think he's addressing the sapphire screen, but for some reason decided to refer to it as a lens. Of course the way the Macrumors article around the quote is written, they just copy what he says, confusing the matter more.

It doesn't make any sense why they would remove the camera cover due to cracking during drop tests, the screen cracking seems like it would be much more of an issue.

You'd think Apple would have have done some drop tests before building a sapphire plant?!?

Hopefully, if the rumor is true, it's only a temporary problem and they can still make an improved screen cover at some time in the future. As already stated, S may well equal sapphire next year.

Otherwise they can now sell sapphire to Samsung who is surely clamoring to "pre-copy" Apple on the feature. Then their next S version can stand for "shatter." :)

PS: how does anyone here who intends on purchasing a 128GB phone justify such a high-priced device?

Assuming the unlocked price for the 4.7" iPhone 6 (16GB) is $649 (already expensive), we'd be looking at 32/64/128 -> 749/849/949, and *assuming* the 5.5" is $100 more per increment, that's $1049 for the highest storage option.

I mean, I love my iPhone... use it every day and so on... but man, I personally can't imagine spending near $1000 for such a small device with such a fast turnover. Are people that careless with storage that they're willing to jump up $300 to store more stuff? There's so many cloud options nowadays too.

Then again, I don't have my parent's money or inheritance to fall back on.

Also, I'm curious to see how a programmable power button works out. As it is now, the short press locks/unlocks the phone, and a long press initiates power on or power off.

128GB? Sold. Always bought the highest storage option possible since the 3G (3G 16GB, 4 32GB, 5 64GB) so a 96 or 128GB option is number one on my wish list for any new handset. My obsessively curated iTunes library and Spotify premium subscription demands it!

So the protruding camera lens will be all scratched 2 weeks after you buy your phone. Genius.
Granted my 3 year old batter and bruised iPhone 4S' camera is scratch free.

I sure hope they drop the 16GB option and make the 32GB the default base option.

If is really programmable I hope they allow to customise it.
I may use the button to launch the camera then take a shot with the volume button, and use it to shut down the phone with a veeeery long press.
I'm a bit skeptical with the button's position, wouldn't have been better to leave it in the upper right side?

Kuo's "analysis" should be relegated to the side column. This quack shouldn't make the front page of MacRumors.

"iPhone 6 May Lose Sapphire Cover Lens..."

How can a product that hasn't been released lose something we never knew it actually had?

And stop posting analyst "predictions" as rumors. They're just unsubstantiated drivel spewed by some douche talking out of his @$$... like me!

Losing it in comparison to the iPhone 5S.

Music. Legitimately bought, ripped at the highest lossy AAC bitrate. Just my Beatles collection (stereo & mono 2009 box sets, BBC vols 1&2, Anthology 1,2&3, US Albums box set etc) takes up 7.8GB. Do I arguably need to carry all of this around with me? No. Could I get away with decanting music on and off? Yes, have done to date. Will I pay for the ability/facilty to cart around all of my carefully curated music collection full of specifically chosen mastering etc with me all of the time? Yes, and happily.

What many people desire in terms of ever increasing screen sizes for TV & sports viewing I have in storage capacity and maintaining or improving the 'good enough' audio outlook quality.

Why would they drop the sapphire cover lens ? will they drop it only for the camera or also for the home button?
