    Hi all.

I got the iPhone 6 Plus after having been a long time Android user, but while I find the phone itself fantastic, I'm not adjusting well to iOS and am considering returning the phone for either the Note 4 or the Nexus 6. But the best thing about the 6 Plus has been the battery life and I am very hesitant to give it up. So I was wondering if, by any chance, anyone here has had experience using both the 6 Plus and maybe the Note 4 and could chime in on which (objectively) has the better battery life?

I'm having a hugely difficult time making this decision but it needs to be done soon before my return period is up. I think battery life is what is going to make or break me. I'd appreciate any input.

    I'm on the same boat!

iP6+ is a nice device but I just can't get used to the lack of features on iOS.

Exactly. :( The bummer is that I REALLY want to like iOS.

I just recently switched from an iPhone 6+ to a Note 4. The battery life between these two devices are pretty similar. The only reason Note 4 is seeing lower battery life than my previous 6+ is that I have a lot more things running on Note 4 (background processes). When I had it at stock setup, it saw a similar battery life.

The Note 4 looks amazing! Except touchwiz :( And thats the only reason why I think I'm gonna stick with a pure android experience.

must be said with the note 4 battery life is very good and lasts over a day with heavy usage. Also with the note 4 the beauty is battery life is never a concern.

I could go to bed with it 24% left and not worry..because of the art of spare batteries.

I agree...the Note 4 battery is awesome! For me and my usage it can last 24 hours easily.
I can say the same for the 6+ as well.

IMHO the battery life on the Note 4 and 6+ is pretty much identical.
I will give the nod to the 6+ only on battery drain while in standby.

I am using the 6+ as my daily driver. I just did a JB on it last night. I am just starting to see what apps and tweaks to do and so forth.
I haven't jailbroken an iphone since the IP4s. I must say the process is so easy and much faster than it used to be. Cydia and installing apps is much much faster now.

I'm really glad to hear this about the batter life. That's great.

For those of you who have the Note 4, do you like it better than the 6 Plus? (I'm assuming you do since you got it.) Why? I know TouchWiz is a downside but I can't imagine any others.

How would you compare the cameras?

I like both phones equally and switch back and forth between them.

TW is not bad at all on the Note 4. It has been trimmed down from previous versions.
Battery life....slight nod to the 6+ only because it uses less during standby.
Camera...... almost a break even. I do prefer the voice control on the Note 4. Just enable voice control and say "shoot" and picture is taken. I wish the 6+ had that option. No more touching the screen.

I would say the iPhone gets better battery life. Not by much, but its better than my note 4.

I found the 6+ to have slightly better battery life than the Note 4. I owned and used them both extensively and really exhausted the battery. Using Waze GPS for hours on battery power, streaming music into the gym, etc.

IOS was way better before they added all this useless fluffy crap to it in ios7. Ios 6 was a bust but not as much as 7 and 8.

The reason the iphone 6+ gets good battery life is because it only has 1gb of ram and therefore isn't using as much power. Double it and it would be the same as androids.

My nexus 5 has the best battery life of any smartphone I've ever owned in my life.

I WISH I could like ios but the ONLY reason I would ever REconsider getting an iphone is if it came prejailbroken, if I had root access to some sort of file system, if it was CHEAPER (not that I can't afford it, but why should something cost more if it obviously has less features than other phones?).

I switched to Note 4 after using iPhones since 2007. Since I had a Nexus 7, I knew what I was getting into. I disabled all the bloatware on the Note 4 and use Apex for launcher. I have zero lag. Plus, I'm really loving the S-pen functionalities.

Ladies and gentleman. I bring you the only person on the internet that claims to get good battery life on a Nexus 5.

Seriously, what phones were you using prior to the Nexus? Because the 5 is heavily regarded as being quite disappointing in the battery life department by most.

Directly before having a nexus 5 I had a galaxy s3, which I still have. Before that I had an iphone 4, which I still have as well. Before that I had the original 2g iphone, which I sold.

I hear a lot of mixed things about the nexus 5 battery. Somebody else has also told me that their nexus 5 gets the best battery life of every phone they've had.

But I guess you can say I'm more of an ocd power user, I guess. I do everything manually (syncing email, syncing my google account contacts, calendars, etc etc etc.) and I ALWAYS have my cell data off and set to 2g (rather than LTE). And I have wifi off always. And I always have location services off. The only time I have these on is if I'm sending someone an MMS, or if I'm using navigation in the maps app. Once I'm done, I turn off cell data, switch it back to 2g, and turn off gps. Most people keep this crap running constantly. I always ask people, "WHy do you have your 4g on if you're not even using the internet?" When I tell them they can save battery by turning off cell data and switching to 2g, they thank me.

I think having those things off is key to having good battery life. And I never have my brightness more than I need it. I also use battery doctor which shows me which apps are running in the background so I can close them, and I also utilize battery saver mode whenever possible.

I don't even see any major downside to TouchWiz. It's not the prettiest(especially the folder icons), but Samsung has improved TouchWiz greatly and the Note 4 is feature packed without slowing anything down. I had my Note 4 since Oct 13 and haven't experienced any lag or buggy issues yet. Standby and usage battery life is almost as good as it gets. Very few phones have better battery life. The screen is noticeably the best, IMO.

One thing the iPhone has over the Note 4 is Touch ID. The finger print sensor itself is just as good as Touch ID, but swiping takes some getting used to vs just touching.

I totally agree. I picked up one on my second line and have been using it for about a month. The battery life is absolutely horrible. It even drains quickly just sitting in standby not doing anything. Probably one of the most disappointing battery lives I've seen out of a recent flagship device.

    Such as?

I always ask that posters who make comments like this actually provide examples. It helps cut down on flamewars and promotes new ideas for using these devices others might not have considered. :)

Battery life on my OnePlus One is phenomenal. I can go 2+ hours of SOT and still be in the 60% range. More than enough to last a work day, and enough to last a work day + night out.

Heck, sometimes on the weekends when there's not much going on, the phoen can last all weekend.

I effectively do not worry about battery life anymore. At work, I've put away all my chargers.

    Thanks everyone for the input.
Tomorrow is the day I have to make my decision. I'm going to go to Best Buy and get some hands on time with the Note 4 before I figure out what I want to do. It's encouraging that the battery life is good and that TouchWiz has improved. I'm still flustered over this decision.

Note 4 battery life is better all-around but the biggest difference is in video playback where the Note 4 is about 55% better at 17:25h vs iPhone 6+ 11:15h and Note 4 display is not only bigger but higher resolution.

My intentions are not to begin a fanboy discussion but here are some examples:

    1. The Dialer; I like pure android's version better than iOS. I like that I can search for locations right from the dialer. Apple's spotlight implementation isn't as good, IMO.

    2. I like androids notifications better. Reason? Well, correct me if I'm wrong, but with android, you clear the notification on the lock screen and it clears it in the dropped down notification as well.

    3. I like having options. If I want to use a third party sms messaging app, browser, etc. I like having the option of choosing it as my default.

    4. I love personalizing my phone the way I like it! Whether its theming the Ui, adding widgets, or organizing icons.

Again, the iPhone is an excellent device! iOS just doesn't do it for me anymore.
