"Who charges a phone like this?"

Seriously? I've done it numerous times while traveling. Ever been to an airport?

Many times. I travel as part of my work. And I've learned early on that putting one's expensive electronics propped against a wall, on the floor, is the worst place to put something unless you want it trampled on. How much traveling do YOU do?

I could never count the number of phones and iPads I've seen propped up against a wall exactly like that while charging in outlets along the wall.

Since the early 2000s, including iPhones and non iPhones, I count one: the one that I did and got stepped on. I admit: I was nan idiot, and got old by a lot of people around me that that was a stupid thing to do.

No one else I've seen leaves the phone out of their hands or sight when charging in a public place unless tthey have a wish to get their device stolen.

I've personally charged it that same way in my hotel room when the only available plug wasn't near a table.

And how many times have you done that at home?

It's absolutely related, and was discussed to the point where a mod decided to close it.

Uhm, apparently enough people did that the thread continued for days afterward.

It doesn't look discussed to you because you're obsessing over your purchase, the topic isn't going the way you hoped, and you're trying to justify it by re-hashing FUD.

Please do yourself a favor: return your iPhone 6 and get a different model. The number of threads you've posted in this forum obsessing over all the minutiae and wondering each time whether you made a mistake/Apple needs to fix something is unhealthy.

The focus of that topic you refer to is: "Consumer Reports: iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus Not as Bendable as Believed"... which is completely different from the focus of this topic.

Anyone can see it wasn't discussed , its no wonder why mods closed it since it wasn't going the way anyone hoped, just look at this page for example: https://forums.macrumors.com/threads/1791173/

Please do us a favor and stay on topic :) It's healthier for all of us!

Leave moderated decisions to a mod. :D

Or somebody else did. interesting way to charge his phone

I have had cases where I had to charge the phone like that for really short cables, but the lightning cable is so long... unless he was using some 3rd party cable. In fact, I let my phone hang/dangle midair once because the cable was so short.

Oh so a developer can't spread FUD? What if he is a developer that has an axe to grind with Apple? Maybe his software is not making any money on iOS and he's angry at Apple?

of course, that's why I said "I'll give him more credibility" and not completely believed his claim.and that's why I said I'll wait 2 months,if there is genuinly a bending issue,we will find out easily in 2 months time.

I run a children's home in Central America. I typically spend 15-25 weeks out of the year out of the country. I fly frequently through Dallas, Miami, Houston, Indy & Charlotte. I'm very well versed in TSA procedures.

I'm also experienced enough to know that I've seen thousands (without exaggeration) of phones propped up against the wall precisely as the one pictured, being charged at airports and hotels, and man enough to admit that I've done it on many occasions myself when there was no 'appropriate' place to charge a phone.

I don't dispute that the floor is not an optimum charging location, but sometimes you just make do.

Rehashing p96 of a thread? C'mon. The rate at which that thread expanded, only a small portion of forum readers would have seen that section. I followed it as much as I could from work/home and I missed that part - methinks tons of others did as well.

Would much rather read well, thought-out posts, than your opinion on what is or is not acceptable to be posted. Welcome to the internet.

iPhone 6 Plus Bending Not From Pocket, but from Charging Overnight

If it really happened the way he said it did. Then somebody can easily re-create this by using a time lapse camera and let the phone charge overnight. This would be a good one for Lou since he likes to bend iPhone 6 Plus.

Note: Good thing he didn't have it hanging half off the nightstand, hahahahaha

Why don't all of you 6 plus owners give it a shot tonight?

If it is cow dung, etc etc, then put your money where your mouth is. I would gladly do it if I owned a 6 plus.

I wondered if the jean bend was due to warning of the phone via body heat.... Oh forget it..BS

hahaha some people actually think a battery (without blowing up) or a leg can heat up aluminum enough to make it more bendable.

Damn hahahahaaaaaaa :D

Something doesn't seem right about this. Who even charges their phone in that position??? Why not flat on the floor??

If I have to charge my stuff on the floor (instead of on a table), I always prop it up like that. Dramatically lessens the chance of accidentally stepping on it, dropping something on it, etc.

Actually, the discussion was its own thread, until the mods combined a number of these topics into one and then closed the thread. Which eventually will happen to this one.

Please do us a favor and stay on topic :) It's healthier for all of us!

I'll be happy to: If you're truly afraid that iPhones bend themselves due to heat, then you need to consider your iPhone unsafe, and return it immediately. And NOT get another one.

Then it should be easy to take a photo of multiple devices - not just yours - propped up this way in an airport. let's see it. :)

Bull Crap

The melting point of aluminium is 1,200 Fahrenheit. If it was heating the battery would have melted then the components then the screen and the aluminium would still not melt

Remember to remind me not to trust this guys apps

Not convinced about the theory here.

But I will say this.

My 2008 Unibody MacBook Pro did have an issue with the batteries, which were removable at the time. The batteries would swell and actually make the bottom case cover bulge. This would also put pressure on the trackpad, and render it basically unusable.

It was about a 3-4mm bulge which would let you spin the battery on a flat surface like a top.

It's a well documented problem over in the MacBook forums.

that sounds like a loose mouth lie my 6 plus don't even heat at all when charging or while I'm on the phone like all my previous models of iPhone. just like some people on here i think people are just seeking attention and making up issues .if u don't like the bigger iPhones just simple stay in the 4s-5s zone

The odds that charging bent the iP6 are infinitesimal.

It was in his front pants pocket or back pocket
or he dropped it
or it got caught in CR's machine
or that guy on YouTube bent it for him.

There are many possibilities but charging....

NOPE.

Okay, now there's 10 iPhones that have bent.
