After a week with my 6 plus I'm convinced phablets will slowly be replacing the ipad for many, if not most, and the full realization hasn't set into the marketplace.

Heck, I find that I often prefer to use the 6 plus over the ipad for tablet type usage. Its more comfortable to hold and use with one hand. Its plenty big enough for personal video viewing. Its more comfortable to type for me.

It is a giant change from the size of the 5

Get the iphone 1st and ipad later. the plus is definately not a replacement for an ipad. think of it as the difference between a big bath tub and swimming pool. you could bathe in a pool and you could kinda swim in a big tub but youd prefer to use them for what they are made for. a phones primary use is communication whether calling texting or social media an ipad is primarily designed for consuming media (photo, video, web browsing).

Its all merging

"mobile" video viewing went up something like 250+% last year alone. People want to watch, listen, read, talk live tv/sports event via social media. A natural progression of device integration seems reasonable considering that.

Perhaps one day we get a TV that can do all of that. Until we have that, the smart tv/phablet integration seems more likely than having an extra device serving as a tweener. The future of the ipad seems better suited for business applications.

Hello everyone!

I'm sure that a lot of people ask this question, but I would like to make a big leap, I've a iPhone 3G and a 4S and I would like to make an upgrade to an iPad or the new iPhone 6 Plus.

I love big phones, my brother owns an LG Optimus 3D and I just love how big it is, and the iPhone 6 Plus is even bigger! (yay!)

I love the camera in the 6 Plus, it is truly amazing that we have a phone camera with optical image stabilization, just amazing, You only see this kinda stuff in bigger cameras, and not in phones, that's a + for the 6+

On the other hand, I've never owned an iPad, but I always wanted one since the first one. I love browsing from my bed and from the couch with my iPhone 4S, but as You know the screen is just too little compared to an iPad. And also the iPad is faster than the iPhone(s).

Just to note, I love film making, short movies and I also love photography. (again, another plus for the 6+)

So, please help me decide between the two with some ideas, I cannot buy both, so that's not an option, sadly.

These are two COMPLETELY different devices. One is a GIGANTIC awkward to use phone, while the other is the quintessential tablet. YOU decide.

Well, thanks everyone for the resourceful responses.

I think I will buy the iPhone 6 Plus and later I will buy an iPad.
Watched some reviews about the iPhone 6 Plus and I absolutely love it, (especially the new camera), so awesome and gorgeous.

I mainly use my PC/Hackintosh computer for video editing and web browsing, so I will stick with it until I have enough money for an iPad.

Just another quick question, how much space does a 30 minute long, 1080p HD video take up?

I'm thinking about going for the 64GB version, but if the videos are big I will buy the 128GB one.
