Lets do a simple math with what we know.

Foxconn daily production of iPhone 6+ : 140,000
25 days of production for launch day

140,000 x 25 = 3,500,000 total production x 0.96 for DOA = 3,360,000

3,360,000 split between 18 countries.

For the hopeful, say apple holds back 70% stock for the US market = 2,352,000 million

2,352,000 / 4 major carriers = 588,000 per carrier

588,000 x 0.5 half preordered = 294,000 total for first day sales

294,000 / 257 total apple stores = 1,144 total phones at an apple store available

1,144 x 70% held for retail stores = 343 per apple store / 4 carriers = 86 phones per carrier

Now if apple only saved 50% for the US market, number shrinks.... Make your choice when thinking this is like the iPhone 5s release in availability.

Interesting math, but a lot of assumptions we just don't know. For example, the amount allocated for preorders might have been less than half. Also we have no idea how many days it has been in production. Part leaks have been occurring for months, so for all we know they started a long time ago.

Parts may have been but assembly didn't start till August with all the week 34 range. I can have a million parts extra readily available but assembly speed determines the final production amount per day.

Am I crazy to think I'll be able to get a 6 plus space grey 128gb if I'm one of the first in line at my local att store? There's a store right next to where I live that seems to be off everyone's radar. I intend on getting there early, hopefully first in line. I'm confident they'll have 6 plus available, but am concerned they won't have any 128gb models. I think me wanting space grey increases my chances because it's more common. I asked the store and the employee recommended I try an apple store for that model. No way of knowing if he meant they aren't getting any 6 plus 128gb, or if he knows they will only be getting a few, or maybe he has no idea yet... Speculation is driving me nuts. Really don't want to wait in line for hours only to be told they don't have any 128gb plus.

Some will think you're crazy. Others will think you have a shot if you're one of the first few people in line. Nobody knows.

Call that store tomorrow night and ask what kind of inventory of Plus models they'll have available Friday morning.

Here's my biggest concern: I don't mind waiting or lining up very early. However, if I'm in that line all night only to be told they won't have any in Stock, that would make me mad. I'm going to try to call the AT&T store tomorrow to get an indication. I just will be livid if I waste all that time to find out they don't have it.

What exactly makes you confident they'll have the plus in stock? I hope you do in fact get one from there. I'll be in the same boat on Friday.

For what it's worth, every T-Mobile store in my area (Dallas/Fort Worth) said no store is receiving the 6+ this Friday... only the 6.

Apple stores will get the 6+ obviously but as far as inventory? Who knows... I'm driving up to my Apple store around 6am to see what the situation is like. If it's absurd, I'll just turn around haha.

Not sure about AT&T, Verizon, Sprint though

I called my store last year about the gold 5S and was told they would have a few. I was first in line and camped out all night. When they opened the doors, no gold. Don't trust what they tell you.

If you absolutely must have a 6+ on launch day, go line up at an Apple store and be in the very front of the line....

So things just got serious and scarier. Now all the Verizon stores are telling me that they won't know for sure how many or if any Plus's are going to be in stock until the morning of 9/19. It'll suck if I'm number one the whole night and at 8am they tell me there's none. What a adrenaline rush, let the games begin, Apple.

I called my store right before they closed tonight and I was told that only the store manager knows what they will have for stock in the morning. The manager was told by their district manager not to tell any of the employees so they honestly do not know and aren't lying when all of us nuts call to ask. I have never done the pre-order thing, this was my first and I'm not getting my phone shipped until 10/7. Because I really need a new phone, my 5 won't hold a charge more than 5 minutes once I unplug it from a charger, I am seriously considering getting up and trudging down to the nearest Verizon corporate store around 5 am. I was told that last year for the 5s the earliest person to get there was around 3 am but that he was pretty much along until a little after 4, by 5 there were only 6 people in line. I'm seriously hoping that the same holds true this year as I think I have decided that I am going to try it. The worst thing that could happen is that I'm not early enough and I don't get one, or they don't have any in stock anyway. If I don't get one tomorrow, I just continue dealing with my crappy dying 5 for another 2 weeks until my pre-order comes!

IfixIt reported that there were only 40 6+ at the Apple Store they went to. They were 53rd in line when they arrived at 1pm.

They had a fan further up in line that helped them buy one to tear apart.

Let that be an indication of how tight and popular the 6+ is.

Sitting in line at ATT store now. They came out and told us they only had 5 6 pluses. Two of them were gold. All are 64 gig. I'm third in line.

The local Apple store in Tampa had 3 semi trucks loaded with iPhone 5's during that launch (quoting an employee).

However, let's consider this:

Foxconn can only make so many phones per day. They have to satisfy:

1. Pre-orders
2. Apple Stores
3. Carrier Stores
4. Third Party Stores

Pre-orders on the first day were over 4 million; a record.

So the question is, how many were left to distribute to the rest of the planet? Remember, we're not just talking about the US.

I have a doctor's appointment tomorrow morning near an AT&T store. I will try there. If I am lucky, I am lucky; otherwise, I will wait.

I'm number 1 in line at the biggest att store in my area. About 10 others with me. They said everyone here will get a plus and the size and color they wanted. My guess is they got about 10-15 saw the fedex guy bring in two boxes that were the size of a gym bag. Good luck everyone. Hope all is well tomorrow and everyone gets lucky

I walked in last night after work & after 7pm to my local VZW store and picked up a 128gb Space Gray iPhone 6 with no problem! I had planned on only getting a 64gb model, but since all they had left in that was the Gold...I decided to splurge on what would ultimately bring better resale anyway. Of course, they were out of the 6+ models, but after handling one for awhile yesterday that one of my customers had, I decided it was just to big to be comfortable for me anyway.

So...if you do a little hunting, and are not afraid to buy the larger storage models, you might still find some 6's out there even today.

Referring back to my first post in this thread... And I was right.

There were, for the most part, significantly more than 10-20 iPhone 6 Plus phones per Apple Store on launch day.

At my store they were all sold out by people who camped over 15 hours.

Yup. Your award will be in the mail. Should receive it in 6-8 weeks.

There may or may not be an award.

On the Plus note, it appears almost everyone I know (save for the Android converts) is struggling to keep their Plus and not return it for a 6. Seems everything they said about "big" phones prior to them becoming popular on September 9th was true after all.

Out of the 10 I know of in the wild, 6 are likely on their way back.

Yikes!
