You misunderstand me. It isn't the price putting me off, it's the spec. I would pay the asking price if I wanted the phone but I don't. I was merely amazed at the price for such a low spec phone. Apple are charging as if it's a killer phone when it plainly isn't.

Excellent, that's that sorted then-you're not buying one.

Bye.

If you want an impressive spec sheet, you should look elsewhere.

Apple how NEVER competed on specs.

A mature contribution to the thread. Thanks ;-)
I wanted an iPhone 6 and I was genuinely hoping that it was going to be a killer phone. I'm extremely disappointed that I'll be leaving the Apple ecosystem and as this is a discussion forum, I'm voicing my viewpoint. You don't have to join in if you find the subject matter distasteful.

You dismiss specs like they're meaningless. Some specs are important, like RAM for instance. You assume that Apple have deemed the paltry 1GB perfectly sufficient for all users and that it isn't a financial decision by them. You assume wrong on both counts.

Get a grip. Hardly rambling. There isn't much point in complaining about the price if the spec doesn't suit you. Totally pointless exercise.

Pointless maybe but I'm venting. Read my earlier post. I have a lot of money tied up in the Apple ecosystem and I'm miffed that I'm being forced to leave. I can laugh at the exhorbitant price of this mediocre handset if I wish, whether I intend getting one or not. 1GB of RAM is wholly insufficient and for that reason alone I'm out.

What tests have you performed on both iPhone 6 models to determine that 1GB is A) "Paltry" and B) "Perfectly Sufficient"?

I'll answer that for you-NONE.

You haven't performed any tests and are just assuming and trying to whip up some hyperbole about your decision not to buy an iPhone 6.

We get it-you're not buying an iPhone 6.

You're not getting an iPhone 6-we get it.

Bye.

No need to come here and stomp your little feet like a child about how you don't like it.

My present iPhone has 1GB of RAM, so I've had two years of testing ;-)

Normally its favourable to buy outright when you factor in the total costs spread over the duration of the contract but for most people it works out more manageable paying £99 or what ever upfront and then say £50p/m for 2 years rather then having to pay out something near £800 in one sitting and still require a carrier plan on top.

Indeed, the cash outlay might be a bit much for some but the total cost of the phone is worth keeping in mind. It's bonkers to spend more on a gadget than is affordable but some might suggest that buying a iPhone via any method is bonkers :)

Is it an iPhone 6 or an iPhone 6 Plus?

Clearly it's not, so you're talking bunkum.

How will the iPhone 6 handle 1GB of RAM better than the i5/5S can??

Well you've already stated you're not getting an i6, so when are you off?

Or do we have a big "I'm leaving MacRumors" thread to look forward to?

I currently own an iPhone and am typing this with it. It isn't up to you when or if I leave the forum and frankly your aggressive tone just because I don't like the upcoming iPhone is weird. So it's ok to gush and drool, but not to criticise?

The price vs quality of an i6 is always subjective.

I have faith that Apple will make using the i6 a great experience, regardless of how much RAM is/isn't inside.

If it's rubbish, it will go back for a refund and I'll get something else.

Simples.

I dont really think the 1GB of RAM is a huge thing. Heading forwards it may be a limiting factor with some programmers, but it's not like it is struggling with 1GB at the moment. The larger screen, faster CPU and more space may mean larger games with more complexity, but I wonder if the new Metal programming interface helps to lesten the need for RAM as much as the current setup?
