ipad air is 100$ more than ipad mini? so whats your point? So only the display size and some gamma reproduction is the difference. But again they need both to have sapphire. The 4.7" will be the mainstream for all the girls and boys

To answer your question, that single sentence was my point. And it was obviously not thought out since you proved it wrong. Thanks.

This doesn't bother me. I've had all the iPhone's and not one mark on them. I'm getting the 4.7-inch regardless of what type of glass it has. I don't care if the 4.7-inch has Gorilla class or sapphire glass.

Standby mode for...a watch? I want my watch to be a freaking watch. If I wanted to constantly tap a sleep/wake button to see the time, I would have strapped my damn iPod nano on my wrist years ago.

Standby might make sense as an option mode if forgot to charge the battery or notifications/usage had unexpectedly spiked.

A watch with a dead battery is an even more limited device than one you have to tap to see time.

Keeping the bluetooth and the sensors running all the time is probably a high priority ... which is something just a plain watch doesn't have to worry about.

[ there also might be a gesture motion device/sensor so that the action of bringing the watch up to see activates the display. When your watch isn't facing you, it typically doesn't matter that the display is 'dead'. If there is moderately sensitive data don't want to display that to other people either. ... which is what watch is doing often when not facing user. ]

does it really bother you what mockup they use?

I can see how it can set unrealistic expectations. The mockup looks way nicer than some of the 3D printed mockup shells we have seen, in my opinion. However, it is close enough and doesn't bother me personally.

One instance that isn't as great though - Think about how many times we see an iWatch mockup at the top of an article and its the curved glass rectangular band in different colors. Even when rumors here started popping up that it is likely to be circular like a normal watch, there were a few articles where this rectangular curved band still popped up. There will be people, and there are probably people still, who think that's likely what it will look like. When we, and the site, know better.

It'd be nice to end up with a 5.5" iPhone 6 and an iPad Mini with that new fresh design.

It's been a long time since I was with the Apple camp, and while I still don't think Android is inferior, Apple is certainly catching up.

My analysts guts tell me that this version will be called iPhone 6 and next year we will see iPhone 6S, where S stands for Sapphire. Case closed. :)

Who cares about other sizes.

The bigger the better. You can do so much more with it.

I, for one, don't want something huge. I have three distinct devices for a reason - laptop, tablet, iPhone. Currently that's 13", 9.7", and 4", but I wouldn't mind going to 11", 7.9", 4.7". I don't need a huge phone, because I have a tablet for that.

It could have a DND mode (I'm sure it will) where it basically kills all functionality except for showing the time. But it should also have the option to sleep the screen, I don't want it glowing while I'm sleeping.

Alternatively sapphire could be used as an additional product differentiator between the two different sizes of iPhone - so people who aren't actually bothered about a larger screen might still be tempted to pay an extra $xxx to get a sapphire screen?

No rush for an iWatch that is not insanely great. Apple needs to take it's time and release a killer product. The only ones clamoring for the iWatch are analysts who NEED something to talk about. And they would love it for Apple to release it and have fail badly. Nothing would make them happier.

I am with you... I am hoping that they are release together. I would like to pick them up and try both sizes.

Because of the home button, I am guessing the 5.5 will be even bigger than the note 3 - and that phone is huge.

It's so hard to find good help these days.

Not if Samsung beats them to it.

BS if its not sapphire on the one that's a reasonable size then I'm not upgrading.

Good. If the supply is constrained, I'd prefer you don't upgrade. Or at least wait until after I get mine. Then I don't care.

I'm getting the one that's a reasonable size. The 5.5" one.

One hand wears the watch. The other hand presses the buttons that activate the 100% solid state multi-function digital quartz crystal micro-computer unit. And now, you're ready for the third hand to trigger the light-luminating dial to give you an alphanumeric readout accurate to within 9 seconds a year. It's that simple.

The 5.5" will be super high demand since many previous iPhone users will be coming back. They are using 5.5-5.7" size phones. Also many current iPhone user will skip the 4.7" size for the current de facto size. Just go to Best Buy and just look at the current model size: over 5"!

They have enough sapphire glass for a bigger phone, but not for a littler phone. That makes no sense at all. This is just a rumor to convince people to buy the bigger phone.

...Unless they figured they will sell a lot more "littler" phones.

I said it before.

I don't believe Apple could get away with an extra $100 for nothing other than an extra 0.8" larger diagonal screen size, but otherwise identical product.

The deal will be sweetened.

So it's basically the same as last year. New iPhones in Sept and new iPads in Oct which means we will have gone an entire year with no new products yet again. What happened to Cook's promise to deliver new products "throughout 2014"? The guys a blatant liar who will say any old BS to keep the stock price up. Not happy. Still waiting for Retina MBA, 128GB iPod touch, new iMacs, new Mac Mini.

It makes perfect sense. Most people will probably want the smaller one, so they'd need more glass for that. It doesn't matter that the 5.5" is bigger if 5x as many people buy the 4.7" one.

That's what I was thinking. People just look at a watch, is their plan to sell something that's usually blank and needs to be activated to see the time? I guess they could try and do some sort of motion sensing but that seems like it could be really inaccurate. Is it possible to do any sort of display with the backlight turned off (like some older iPads did after the screen darkened)?
