I am having the same issue: phone toggles vibrate mode on/off like crazy with the slightest touch. At first it did it wehnever I touched the phone, but now this is hapenning while the phone is just on the table...i hate this product...seriously, all it is is a larger screen, piece of crap. I was a loyal apple customer, but seriously, other brands have superior devices. Last apple phone for me. Extremely dissapointed.

Get it swapped. Mine actually got better over a week. It doesn't do that all anymore. Strangest thing.

I'm in the same boat as the OP. the silent/mute switch is a bit loose when in silent mode, but i'm unsure of whether or not i should get a replacement

I have a loose mute button as well. I had a 5S prior and the mute button was rigid. I thought maybe it was just the fact that the button has been redesigned, but it's loose whether it's on mute or ring. The phone is otherwise without defect, and I would hate to return it due to not knowing if the next one will be worse in other areas. Every year it's the same thing; playing the return lottery.

A friend sent it to the Applestore and they replaced it.

A friend had the same issue with the vibrate button. He scheduled an appointment to the Applestore. He showed them the problem and they give him a new iPhone6 immediately.

They have new iPhone6 in stock for repair. Don't need to wait as required to buy a new one.

Go to replace yours !

Man you guys are so silly mine has it too who cares? A phone never stays new! When you use it those **** things happens it wil not break my switch and home button and stupid volume buttons are lose too from using them if you dont want that something get loose then dont buy phones! Put a damn case on it !

Well, I had loose buttons, especially the home button, and I opted to return it because I didn't want issues in six months or a year from now. I don't think they should be loise out of the box.

Just got a gold 128gb iPhone 6+ on Thursday 6 November 2014 and opened it yesterday 8 November 2014. Had a gold 128gb iPhone 6 (standard) but wanted to upgrade. The 6 had no problems whatsoever. Silent switch toggles when brushed against and in the silent position. Ringer position gives normal feedback (i.e., none).

Having just gotten an Verizon iPhone 6 (64 GB Space Gray) with a somewhat loose switch when in vibrate mode, made me come across this thread.

The problem is with the switch stopping working at some point earlier on than it otherwise would, if at all. While under warranty perhaps not as much of an issue, but once outside of it (typically beyond 1 year) then it's more of an issue to deal with if it happens.

The other effect is perhaps either the ability to have the phone switch modes inadvertently if the switch is loose in some way, so just by brushing the side against something or putting the phone in the pocket something might change without you wanting it or realizing it. I guess a case might help with that, but not everyone would want a case and shouldn't get it just because there's this kind of a variation to the hardware.

My 6+ has a mute switch that is slightly loose in both positions. My volume buttons, power button and home button are all good though so I don't want to swap out and get a phone with some other issue(s).

Yeah, unfortunately a good part of it all comes down to that too--whether or not the issue you potentially have is worthy the potential risk of getting a replacement with some other (if not the same) type of issue.

I've had my 6Plus since late December 2014, and keep it in a BookBook case (no separate wallet needed as a result, and the whole big sandwich still fits in my front jeans pockets just fine).

The mute button can move a little in either position - its a mechanical switch so some movement is to be expected. The problem I have is with the ease at which the button is moved. With that BookBook case, if I put the phone in my pocket, move it around in my hand, or just press down on the BookBook front cover or spine with the cover closed, it seems to brush the switch and mute the phone. Highly annoying. The phone seems to be on mute almost all of the time unless I explicitly turn it off of mute or double check the switch state.

I'd wish there was a way to put a stronger spring into the mechanical switch inside to increase the force necessary to change the switch state. As it is, I may just mill down the mute switch a small amount and round off its edges to make it harder to switch it by the switch then providing less surface and friction.

I am having issues with the switch, half the time it won't engage. It is also lopsided.

I have never used this switch and have never "felt" it to see how it is doing and I seem to be just fine for it.;)

You never need to set your phone into silent/vibrate mode (or into actual ringer mode if you generally use silent/vibrate)?
