I haven't bought either yet but have been debating extensively and spending lots of time with both in the store. I'm going with the 4.7" iPhone 6.

While sitting on the couch, at my office desk, or in a meeting, I would definitely prefer the 6+. It's a stunner.

If I'm carrying groceries and the phone rings, or holding my daughter's hand, or doing anything else, I'd prefer the 6. There are definitely plenty of times where one-handed use is convenient.

Even on the 6, one-handed use is pushed to the limit of feasibility. On the 6+, it's impossible. Reachability does not at all address the need to reach the letter Q the keyboard, which I have tried and failed to do no matter how I hold the plus with one hand.

Another complaint with the Plus: The landscape keyboard is neat but not at all ergonomic. My hands are normal sized but my thumbs struggle to reach the letters in the middle. This is a missed opportunity.

This decision is highly individual so you will have to think carefully through your own usage scenarios before deciding.

Sorry OP, but I'm really going to throw you for a loop now. Disregard my post above. I just ordered an iPhone 6+ yesterday.

What I said above about compromising one-handed use remains true. Basically I've decided to live with it in order to get the benefits of the big screen, two pane viewing, and other benefits.

I spent more time with the Plus in the Apple Store on Saturday, and got more comfortable with it. It's weird that my time with it in the AT&T store last week left me unhappy with the size, but at Apple I found it easier. I was even able to type in landscape fairly effectively (once I nailed the proper grip). Either I was getting more accustomed to the size, or perhaps the fact that Apple attaches a very thin and light security connector on the back while AT&T attaches a big honkin plastic thingy had something to do with it. I don't know.

Also, before my visit to the Apple store, I cut out a mockup cardboard iPhone 6+ to the proper dimensions and spent time holding it, putting it in my pocket, etc. It's a big phone for sure, but not quite as big as one might think.

It's still a very tough call for me, and I'm only about 75% sure of myself in picking the Plus. Basically I'm saying "when in doubt, go with the flagship". After I receive it (a solid month from now) I'll have 14 days to decide before the return period expires.

How I see it now: One-handed use will definitely be limited. This is partially mitigated by Siri (which I comfortably use fairly frequently) and Bluetooth (I already keep an earpiece on hand at all times). I take lots of photos and videos with my iPhone, and the big screen will definitely benefit that. It will be great to clearly see whether the shot is in focus or not before snapping (on my 5s, I've often thought a shot was in focus but zoomed in later to discover it wasn't). I will have the functional equivalent of a tablet with me at all times. Editing photos and videos will be far nicer. I will be much more inclined to browse the web on the Plus than on my 5s or even a 6, because I can see the whole page much more easily.

For those that are not heavy users of the browser or advanced apps, the 6 is likely the right choice however, for portability. This is definitely a very personal decision.
