I am betting not as adding the coils for charging would increase the thickness of the phone. Many would also complain how long it took as wireless charging is very slow and not efficient in comparison to plugging it in.

I read an article recently that predicted that the next iphone would utilize wireless charging. If this turns out to be true, how do you think this would work? Would you need to put your phone down on some special charging mat?

That would be the case, however I very much doubt Apple would adopt wireless charging as it currently is and will either support a universal standard or will push a new low power efficient standard.

There is zero benefit in wireless charging at this time as it is a wasteful early technology.

How about Quick Charge?

Thoughts on if apple will implement something close to the Oppo 7 feature which allows the phone to get to 70% battery in 30 mins?

Would be a handy feature...

what do you guys think?

+1

At least with a charge cord, you can still use the device while it's charging. That'd be kind of hard to do whilst sitting on a "charge pad"

But you can still use a charging cord just as you do now. No one is taking anything away from you, just giving you another option that may or may not be convenient for you.

There is no good argument against wireless charging. Even weight and thickness appear to be unaffected in devices that utilize it.

Maybe one could argue prices of charging pads but that's a moot point since you don't have to have one.

Let's not also forget if Apple does it it will likely be better then the way it's currently done also. So we may see something really cool if it's introduced.

It won't effect my buying decision however I'd definitely use such a feature. Charging pad in my office, night stand and table buy the couch in my living room.

Sounds like a gimmick, but hell, gimmicks are cool though. Im not one to complain about Siri or TouchID. Both were considered gimmicks and I use both on a daily basis and love them. Having wireless charging as an additional charging method wouldnt hurt to have.

To me, wireless charging is like NFC. It seems cool, but when you think about it there isn't much practical value.

I got a samsung galaxy S4, i bought the wireless charger "kit" (new backcover, 1 mm thicker than normal) and a charge pad.

It's surprisingly nice, to just leave on the pad under the monitor, not having to plug in cables, or remove the cable if you get a call and need to check something away from your desk or whatever.

At first i thought that I would never use it... but now i really hate plugging in a cable.

it's just so much easier like this.

Only negative thing compared to cable is, it charges slower (if you think thats important)

I think Apple will introduce wifi charging:cool:

imagine walking into your house and your phone starts charging!

ok maybe not, but it would be sweet if that existed

It kind of does. Last I saw was a demo a year ago or so. An iPhone equipped the the tech would charge simply by being in front of a monitor equipped with the tech. Even at range of a few feet (demo looked 15-20 ft).

I had wireless charging on my Droid DNA and loved it. Had a charger on my night stand on one on my desk. Its nice to be able to grab the phone when its ringing and not yank the cord out of the USB port. I don't consider it a gimmick at all worked great can't believe in this day and age I still need to plug in a phone to charge it, stupid.

I had a Nillkin wireless charger with a S5, the card made a slight bulge in the back and the phone was so HOT when charging. Took hours and hours to charge. Much prefer sitting my 5S in my twelve south dock connected to my macbook, way way quicker and you can still use the phone on it.
