What time did you pre-order?
I received a confirmation email at 2:24 am central time. Pre-orders were supposed to become available at 2:01 am central time. Though Apple site was down for me at that time & it took a few mins to find the pre-order option on the best buy website & a few minutes for the option to change from coming soon to pre-order on Best Buy.

Say what you want... All 3D touch gestures can be emulated on previous devices with a simple long hold.

6
- long press = move apps on home screen.
- Force press = nothing.

6s
- long press = move apps on home screen.
- Force touch = short cut menu.

It amazes me how people can't even figure out the difference between pressure and time, yet log onto the forum to criticise.

its only a matter of time before force touch is added to older devices by long hold + vibrate through a cydia jailbreak tweak. not much of an upgrade at all this year especially if you are a jailbreaker like myself.

I thought they would be treated as different gestures. Something happened with a deep touch, something else happens with a long touch.

Did either of you NOT see the Keynote? Long pressing on an App icon in the current hardware will only let you move or delete it. Save your comments and save your ignorance.
Did you not read my comment? I am saying a "long press" (pressing for longer than normal) and a "deep press" (something that you can only do on a 3D touch device) are different things. Please learn to read more carefully. Thanks!

For those that pre ordered the iphone 6 and picked it up in the store (along with switching service from the old phone), how long did the whole process take? I have a reservation from 8:30am-9am on the 25th to pick the phone up for the upgrade program, but have an appointment I need to get to soon after. My data is already backed up and I know it'll take a little time for them to do the credit check. Plus, they'll need to switch service over to the new 6S.

Wondering if this can get done in a half hour or so.

It won't.

You may get short cut menus via a Jailbreak tweek that uses time (long hold/presses) to activate these menus. But as someone who has played with similar on Android devices I can tell you it's a crummy experience. You're better off without it IMO.

The beauty of pressure is that you are in control. Apple's "Peak and Pop" is simple brilliance. Let's take emails as the example...

A soft press previews an email. You can leave the preview on the screen as long as you want by keeping your finger on the screen - don't want to action the email? Let go of the screen and the preview disappears and you're back in your mailbox. Want to action it? Press harder while the preview is showing. It is impossible to do that with a long press.

That's just one small example. I am 99% sure that skipping the 6s, but I'm looking forward to this tech in the 7.

Lots of examples on the 3D Touch page: http://www.apple.com/iphone-6s/3d-touch/

My iPhone 6s Plus case is on the truck for delivery today! Now, let's get that iPhone prepped for shipment please.
