I ended up with TSMC today after returning two samsungs. The first one had just ridiculous battery, it was awesome, but it unfortunately had speaker issues that made it almost impossible to talk, the second one had messed up backlighting, half the screen was dark, but ridiculous battery life again.

Now I have this TSMC. Screen and buttons are great, I'm hoping that the battery is on par with the others, or better. I haven't noticed a difference yet, but I've only had it for like 6 hours lol

I'm on my 4th 6s+ and it seems to have the best battery life so far and its a sammy. The first was a sammy and the others where tmsc.
Makes me wonder if the word "consistency" is a banned concept at Apple.

After many years and buying even more laptops and other Apple gear did quality decline to today's rough inconsistent trend.

Yeah how could Apple not have tested and noticed the huge difference? It makes me concerned for the quality control we'll see with the iPhone 7

So very true.

It's at times like this I dislike being so honest and outspoken. Why?
Because fundamentally I really like and have enjoyed Apples products. But I dislike having to report negative experiences when I _know_ Apples capable and has done so much better in the past.

Wasn't about the chip. I need my phone to work as a phone. I need people to be able to hear what I'm saying. First phone didn't do that. I would have kept it if it weren't for that, even though it had blue bars on the sides of the screen.

On the second phone the back lighting was so messed up that half the screen looked like it should, and the other half was extremely dim. That's a serious defect to me.

I'm not OCD, but when I pay $1300 not including apple care for a phone, certain things are unacceptable to me, and those two issues hit that threshold.

how is that even possible, my battery is good but not that good, i swear my next iphone would be the plus model, i dont even know why i choose the 4,7 version in the first place :(

Perhaps I didn't explain myself on that and apologies. I don't blame you at all, I am electronics OCD and sounds like you aren't.

This wasn't a slap to you so much as Apple quality control and just wild variation in parts used down to the processor mfr -- it's like a box of chocolates ...

I more meant "gotta catch em all" in terms of coming across all different kinds of builds while in the pursuit of a functioning passable phone.

It's a smh situation, again directed at Apple

Ah sorry, I wasn't sure what you meant so thought I'd explain further.

All the variations really suck, there's no consistency. I agree, it is like a box of chocolates. Which is a shame :(

I'm not one to be defensive about Apple quality control. Or mass manufactured products.

in fact I'm buying multiple iPhone 7 and keeping the best of the litter unless I nail it first try but I'm done with these games and waste of time but I want iPhone because jailbroken iOS is pure bliss.

It's too much of a lottery getting a decent device.

Saving up for years, eating toast and staying at home night after night whilst your friends party & enjoy life. Then one day, finally, you have saved enough money to buy that fancy, premium phone you always promised yourself.
So you walk into the Apple store, lay down the massive pile of moolah that you slaved & toiled for, say to the Apple rep "I'll see you tomorrow for my exchange" and head out into the cold, hard world with your defective product.

Having a strange time here with mine. First full charge and it's down to 36% with only 5hrs 35m on the clock/14hrs 11m on standby. It's also draining quickly. That's bad even for the Samsung chip, right?

Strange, but I will see what happens after another full charge. The good news is that I have no dark spot issue or anything else. If this is the worst thing wrong with it, I can live with that. I'll be charging it to 100% every night anyway.

That feels upright absurd really. I mean... sure, we all have different tolerances for small defects and so on.

Anyways every single time I've received 100% working unit with no visible defects or anything. I never had to return or take my iPhone for repair.

It's hard to imagine that many of you have to go through several units to get decent device.

Depends what you did in those 5hrs 35m and at what brightness settings. If it's all screen on time with you consistently browsing, streaming or watching videos it's great. If a big portion of the usage time involves things such as listening to music with the screen oftentimes turned off...

Yeah that was 5 hours of constant usage through Safari, messages, taking pictures. I also had music running but that didn't drain the battery much. 30 minutes of LTE usage too, with about 30 more games just to see what was happening. I guess I was expecting much more since the iPad mini regularly gets me more than 12-14 hours of usage with tens of hours of standby.

Just an update. After running the battery down to about 30% last night and charging it up again, the same usage today only dropped to 80%. This is so much better, as expected.
