Not really. At the end of the day if neither is wanted and neither can be deleted it's pretty much the same thing for the most part irrespective whether they are official or unofficial.

Tim Cook has said the reason Apple's pre installed apps can't currently be deleted is because certain functionality of the OS itself depends on the stock apps. For example, since you can't change default apps, deleting the Mail application then tapping on an email address in another application would cause the universe to implode.

Or something.

Wow, two pages as well... That's quite the collection they forced on you.
My second page has three more icons

Can you not delete them ?
I just tried. Yes I can and did.

Technically they don't appear to be actual preinstalled apps; the text at the top of each icon says "download" so presumably they're links to the App Store.

Having said that, when I bought my 4S from Telecom NZ back in 2011, it had a few things such as the "T-World" portal preconfigured.
I'm a gaijin who doesn't read kanji. Arigato gasimasu.

I was forced to use Softbank for years (they were the only ones that sold the iPhone!) but I switched to AU for the 5S and 6, and now docomo for the 6S. The other carriers are VASTLY superior to Softbank in terms of network coverage, speed, traffic shaping (or the apparent lack thereof) and with the 6S Plus, even pricing. Softbank sucks, dude.
SoftBank and AU are the only two carriers on US installations so it was a convenience to get service. I know DoCoMo is also less expensive than the other two. I started out with AU then switched to SB when I was living in the Kanagawa Prefecture five years ago.

Pre-installed carrier apps would drive me nuts. Especially ones that just duplicate native apps like for texting and email and such.
I feel the same way. The only carrier App that I have installed on my iPhone is MyATT so I can pay my bill via the App. I don't need or want any of the others.

That's what drives me crazy about my Note 4. And some you can disable but not uninstall.
With Android the only way to get rid of those unwanted Apps is to root the phone. But I never wanted to do that with mine.

I am sorry that you can't see the difference, I am ok to disagree with you based on our opinions. I however do agree with the part where you say 'both unwanted', I feel the same about ads, I don't care if blocking ads blocks ads from sites I support too. I do not want ads, they're all the same for me - I will never click on them anyway. However, the pre-installed Apps made by Apple are there to serve me, to better my experience. I use iMessage, FaceTime, the Phone, etc. Of course there are a few I don't care for - but I can imagine others might. The difference is that these come from the guys that made the hardware and the software. Their intentions are different for Apple pre-installing apps versus dodgy telecom company that milks their paying customers from various angles and this includes tracking, gathering of data and re-selling it ..

WOW I never even noticed them before. Why would they be there in some instances and not in others? That lack of uniformity is very un-Apple.

It was a requirement (don't know from which regulatory agency), that requires that information. In the US apple got an exemption to show the accreditations within the software, but I'm guessing in Japan they still have to display them on the phone itself.
