these are not pictures you suppose to "like"
just extreme low light situation with 6s+ and N5,
i asked you guys which do you prefer...

what's this has to do if you like them or not??

When choosing between garbage and crap, I neither like nor prefer either as neither is a valid choice.

Here maybe a visual reference would be better for you. Out of these two random web photos, which one of these do you prefer?

You've missed my point
Nevermind.

The number one "improvement" in those "low-light" photos that I would make would be to adjust the white balance so as to remove the awful sodium light cast.

The point is that the 6/6S take crap pictures with a lot of noise, the 5s has better contrast with better detail, it's funny how on this thread there's a lot of people trying to make excuses because they already have spent money on the "best phone ever created"...

Money's aside, in 11 months the 6s will be obsolete anyway. And with that it'll be onto the next argument. This phone takes killer video I think, decent pictures. But like I said. This thing will be gone in 11 months... For me at least.

nah, the Dynamic range on the 6s+ is more than fine.

I happen to have both 5S and 6S in house. My experience with them so far is that the 6S focuses much faster, has less grain/noise and the images appear sharper. I am a bit unhappy about this, I care about photography, but I like the 5S better because of it's smaller form factor.

Guess which is which?

obviously the right ones are the 5s.. and they DO have more DR and less NR.
that's the truth, i won't lie.
but still, there's some kind benefits from the newer sensor.

i have problem with my 6S camera, too much noise in low light, anybody have problem same with me?

you seem to be one of the lucky ones that have no noise reduction active for some reason...
that's how pictures with no NR should look like IMO.
some people here would be happy to trade ;)

seriously though, i think that's the problem and you should take it back if possible.

There's no NR because those are screen grabs of the finder. It would make more sense to compare actual images shot by the camera app.

This is terrible that an iPhone 6s plus almost $1,000 full price with tax can't take a great photo. It's half of the price of my canon 5d mark iii. I was going to buy one until I read the threads. :(

The camera unit on most top smartphones costs around $20 from the supplier. The whole point of a smartphone is that it's a Swiss army knife of features and to get a camera on the level with the very best point & shoot dedicated cameras would be impossible unless the whole phone was geared around it. Have you seen the size of the iPhone camera? You do realise that the rest of the phone is full of components which have nothing whatsoever to do with the camera?

I think it's wholly unreasonable to expect amazing photos from such a tiny, low cost camera module. The photos are good enough for most folk and that's Apple's aim I guess. The pro photography crowd aren't being realistic here. Having said all that, I would like less noise reduction because the Monet effect does irk me when it pops up.

hard to describe what noise there really is when the firmware is smearing it.

for one: take an actual pic, not a ss of the preview.

the Lumix line probably has one of the best displays as far as little-to-no noise in low light previewing.

Oh.. yea .. stupid me.
I was under the assumption people upload only photos taken. You're right.
