The camera sticking out just a little shouldn't be that much of a problem. How nice would it be if they made it from a material that can attrackt magnets so an extra lens can be placed on it without a special case or putting soms sticky rings around it.

But that's not the case yet or will not be the case ever :)

I'm looking forward to the presentation as I always do. Looking forward to Craig talking about iOS and making jokes :) Love that guy!

Right? Whose idea was it to allow the camera to stick out? If they were going to make it thicker anyway, why not make it at least as thick as the camera so it doesn't have to stick out?

Apparently I'm the only one that cares about this. I never hear MacRumors bring it up as an issue. Does everyone just put cases on their iPhones?

I'm with you man, but they won't change the design so much to get rid of the protruding camera.
I do use a case and I guess most people have a case (or more than one) as well

Probably an OLED screen, they always have chips on them as they can be calibrated with software out of the factory.

I personally feel the thinness level of the iPhone 6 is almost required for the larger size.

Using a 4.7in phone with the same thickness as the iphone 4 would be horrible to use.

I don't doubt that, with respect to iPhone 4 thickness. But I think iPhone 5/5S thickness would be sufficient for a 4.7" phone, yet Apple felt the need to make the 6 even thinner than the 5/5S, why for exactly? Perhaps the 6/6+ could have had a better camera if they had used the 5/5S thickness? I don't know, but I do often wonder what Apple compromised on to get the iPhone 6/6+ thinner.

I also think making the iMac thinner is pointless. I can see making laptops thinner, there is actually a need for that. But why the iMac? We don't use desktops the same way as laptops. We use desktops when we need something the laptop doesn't have. But if you keep sacrificing ports and peripherals to make the desktop thinner, then what's the point in even getting one?

Tbh too much is made from thickness, it doesn't impact one handed usage and it doesn't impact on if it fits in your pocket or not, yet it does impact battery size, heat and things like the camera lens. I use a Nokia 808, I love it, it's easier to handle and use than an iPhone 6.. My palm is naturally curved, not flat...

I would personally love the return of the Nokia N93i, give me a flip phone with a big camera in the hinge... I'd love it.

I hate how phones are now, just thin slabs... not even useful for being a phone or a camera, the two things you want. No one watches movies on their phone, if they do then they're doing it wrong, buy a big TV or protector.

Why would increasing the phone's thickness affect the camera sensor?

You do need to be able to focus the lens on that sensor. The bigger the sensor for a particular lens, the farther it needs to be from the sensor to focus on it. That's why the Nokia 1020, with a big sensor, had a huge camera bump.

There are reasons why DSLR are so big. It's not just for kicks.

I'm sure you can Google more info about this if you're really interested.
