Lets be serious band 30 won't be as impactful as AT&T keeps saying, and the rollout will probably be slow just like HD Voice.

Yeah, I'm not sure why people who don't even plan to use the phone on AT&T are agonizing over it. The phones are identical except for that single band.

Haha because people want the phone with the most stuff. I have AT&T and I can still care less, by the time the band 30 is useful in my area(if ever, no one knows what band 30 does for coverage exactly) I'll have the iPhone 7.

You mean at the AT&T stores? Will they be unlocked there?
I assume that if you buy device only at the AT&T store, it won't be unlocked and you will have to wait till past the 14 day return window to be eligible for an unlock. I'm not 100% sure on AT&T unlock policy but don't you need to have an account with them for the unlock to happen??

On a serious note, I reserved a t-moble model, so I assume that my AT&T sim will work on it, just that I would be missing the band 30. But then I may not need the band 30 in my area (especially in Madison, WI)?

If you buy the AT&T at full price from the apple store, it will no be unlocked.

I'm sure the Apple Retail Stores will have a similar process to the Apple Online store with regards to buying an AT&T model – they'll ask for existing AT&T account info and verify upgrade eligibility, even when paying in full. I think chances are better buying device only/paying in full at an AT&T store.
Not true. You can walk into store and buy device only without giving account info. I bought a Verizon 6 plus last year and I have an ATT account.

The WCS band has already been deployed in at least one market. You'll see it mostly in dense urban areas that currently have capacity problems (such as San Francisco or NYC).

Makes sense. My area is kind of dense but it's tiny (Rhode Island)

In the city I still get about 35mbps of LTE

I can't tell if by "no" you meant "now" or "not". In any case, if you buy your phone via Apple Upgrade it will be unlocked according to the Apple Upgrade page. I'm getting the AT&T even though I'm on T-Mobile, whereas last year I would have gotten the Verizon model.

What are you talking about... It will take so much traffic off B17/B2 in urban areas, such as Boston, NYC, LA, etc.

And unlike HD Voice, it will be a super quick upgrade. The antennas are already capable of it. All that is needed for deployment is another RRU. According to AT&T, a few markets have already been deployed and are in the process. We will know actual markets once the 6S/6S+ comes out.

Even if it's not a big deal right now, I wonder how it will affect the resale value in 1-2 years. Just cancelled the t-mobile order and going with at&t.

OMG this post got all the information I needed :)

I just cancled my Tmobile and ordered ATT instead. The goos news is iPhone 6s silver still having Sept 25th delivery date!!

Yup. Even in the short term... AT&T users always make up the highest percentage of iPhone users.

That was kind of my thought. Less so about resale value as that probably will be less than $50 and may be nothing at all. But, it has a decent chance of improving my coverage as the band gets rolled out and considering the CDMA radios were in the 6, it's pretty likely they are in the 6s too. Plus, CDMA seems to be going the way of the dinosaur overall.

It WILL be unlocked if you buy it at full price from the Apple Store. Ever since Sprint stopped locking full-priced devices, ALL iPhones sold for full price from Apple directly are unlocked. Carriers (except for Verizon) can lock devices that they sell in their own stores.

The Galaxy S6 supports Band 30, so perhaps we could do some research if anyone has one and knows how to get to the mode that says what band it is operating on. Maybe someone has already posted this on Android forums.

So if A1633, A1634, A1688, and A1687 all have the same bands in common (except for band 30), why does http://www.apple.com/iphone/LTE/ not show T-Mobile as supported for LTE under A1633 and A1634? Or is that just a typo?

This is much more confusing than last year.

Exactly. The way I read that, if you buy the T-Mobile phone, you won't be able to use LTE at all on AT&T's network.

Why in the world is there a "One-Time Upgrade Fee" of $15.00 when buying a A1633/4 for full price via Apple? I don't see why we have to go through the upgrade process with AT&T if we're buying a full price phone (thus not using any of their upgrade programs like Next).

I will ask that on XDA, been member there for years.

I know it's enabled in Chicago, San Francisco, Dallas, and Las Vegas.

Where did you get that list?

That's where it should be be deployed first correct. Note that many markets already have WCS capable antennas so all they have to do is drop in new RRUS (LTE radios) and they are good to go.

Dial *#0011# to see what band you are on but you cannot use *#2263# to lock specific bands unfortunately on the AT&T variant of Samsung devices.
