10th generation of iPhone, and I am counting on it to be epic! :D

Interesting...my friends think the contrary....what's the point of buying the S models if they look the same as last year - nobody will know I have the latest thing.

In my case, I don't care since I sell my devices and upgrade every year.

Your friends still think most people care if they have the "latest thing"???

Can I ask a question about US contracts.. Cos folk seem to upgrade every year even if they are on 2 year deals, selling the handset to put the cash towards the New phone charge. But.. Surely there's 2 years worth of charges needed to be paid to pay for the handset and data over 2 years. Even if you sold the phone after 1 year you would still owe 12 months worth of 100 dollar a month payments ? I really don't understand this. In the UK, if it's 50 pounds a month for 24 months, we sell the handset for 300 after 12 months, we still owe the carrier 600 pounds, at 50 x 12..

It depends on the contract. Many people are on old, unlimited contracts (currently unavailable on most carriers). They HAVE to buy the phone at full price. They can't get a subsidized phone without signing a new contract and changing their plan (well, there was a glitch for a while which allowed people to do so...generally you can't do it though).

I'm more the version about which you wrote. I began my 2-year contract with Verizon in the fall of 2013. It was my first iPhone (5s). I'd always wanted one, but my carrier sucked and didn't offer them. I switched to Verizon and got the 64 GB 5s for $400 + a 2-year contract at $70/month. The problem was that I wanted a phablet AND an iPhone. So it was either wait and hope Apple came out with a phablet or go with something like the Note 3. I bought the Note 3. It was beautiful, but it had a small defect. I returned it and got the 5s. The defect pushed me there, but I might've done it anyway. I wanted an iPhone really badly. I loved having an iPhone, but I was bummed it was small.

I saved $$ and bought the 6+ at full price a year later. Yes, I'm still paying off my subsidized 5s until my contract is finished this fall. Some people will pay the $200-$400 (depending on the GB) every year for the new phone, selling their old phone so as to defray the cost of the new phone. It's like paying for a subsidized phone every year instead of every 2 years. I'll probably never go there regularly, but for some it's worth it to have the newest phone every year.

oh god, first i thought i wrote fall instead of set and now i realize it's written as fail instead of fall *facepalm*
yea..and after posting, i was realised i was late in the party. lol. so many pointed it out before me :D

Sales will slide this time round. Not a fail, its just that last years spike was additional buyers and upgraders finally getting a proper screen size. Last years spike will be this years dip, then back to normal next year

Your post sounds like you are saying that everyone likes a bigger screen. This is most definitely not true.

Anyone else hoping they keep doing camera improvements without upping the mpixels? 8 for me is just about the perfect tradeoff between printability (which I hardly ever do) and file size, which would impact me daily. Imo, there is no appreciable difference between 8 and 14 mp onscreen.

I also still have the now ancient iPhone 4, which is barely useable. I'm not the kind of person who upgrades every year and I thought I'd wait until next year's iPhone 7 though it would be a though wait. Above all else, I'm missing a decent camera.

Anyways, the iPhone 6s would be the ninth iPhone (you can go by the iOS version number)

The iPhone 6 is the eight generation. Hence, iOS 8 :)

The 6S will be the ninth iPhone.

Thanks guys for curing my curiousness.

So, the iPhone 7, when its released, will be the 10th iPhone. Dang! That's rather confusing.

Now, all we need now is the iPhone 7 as the 10th generation phone running iOS 11. :p

That would most definitely be confusing. :D
