I'm hoping I can do a standard NEXT-12 upgrade in store. I currently have my preorder done under my line for NEXT-12 so will quickly need to cancel that as soon as I (hopefully) have that magical little card that says the phone I will be getting.

I've actually done behind the scenes stories at TWO Apple Stores during 5s launch and neither store had "hundreds and hundreds" outside of the reserved stock. Each store had 125-175 non-reserved phones on launch day. So, I have in fact more experience than you. Unless you've spent time in an Apple Store stock room on launch day? BTW, you being 100+ in line and getting a phone doesn't mean you can summarize that the store had "hundreds and hundreds."
If you honestly think stores in NYC, SF, San Jose etc aren't getting 200+ phones then you're not one to trust with anything. I love how you say 175 phones, like that isn't pushing what I said anyways. Hilarious.

If only you knew what you were talking about. Then again, you don't.

Called my local mall with Apple Store inside and found out the details. The official report is that we can begin lining up at 5AM....in past years at this point there was already 100+ people in line by this time. I highly doubt they'll try to enforce this time though. I will be there WAY before this and will just sit in my car until it's time to get in line I guess :)

I just went to my local Apple Store and asked if there's a 100 people in line with no or later appointment than I have (8:30 AM) to let an Apple representative know that and I'll go in front, providing I'm in my appointment window time.

yup, this is how I would expect it to work. I've been told that Apple will have additional stock for walk-ins or those with reservations who change their mind on color/size/model...etc. I'm trying to track down a 6s+ because my store didn't have any reservations left for this model when I decided to go with the plus over standard 6s.

Hello All,

Anyone have any information that I haven't been able to find that may help me here:

I preorded a 6s Plus late (opted to go with it instead of my initial 3AM standard 6s order) and got a 3-4 shipping windows with delivery 10/12-10/19. Not a huge wait by any means (given how things looked this time last year with "Oct" and "Nov" shipping estimates after 6 preorders last year!

I have the day off 9/25 and figured I'd try and scrounge a 6s+ up in store and cancel my preorder if possible. This being said, I'd imagine launch quantities at AT&T stores will be available but highly limited for the plus model. Looking at my local Apple store, I see there are still available reservations for just about any color (except RG)/size standard 6s but no 6s+ options for reservations. Judging by what I just read on launch day procedures (I think it was a Cult of Mac article) it looks like two lines will form: one for those with reservations, the other for those without.

I'm wondering if those in line without a reservation will essentially just grab a reservation slot from the "reservation" stock still currently available (article kind of read that it would work that way)? Or is there additional stock allocated for walk-ins? I won't bother stopping/camping at my Apple store if there isn't a chance for additional 6s+ units outside of those already reserved. I don't know how or if this can even be determined...I'm sure it's not information Apple people on the phone know/will give away. If anyone happens to know or have a thought I'd greatly appreciate the insight!!

Thanks!

Did anyone get their reserved 6S Plus? I reserved/preordered one at Best Buy and they didn't get a single one! They told me no where in the State had them...

My experience today went as such: Got to the Apple store at Midnight, one person ahead of me. Another guy showed up a couple minutes later, and then no-one till about 4:15am, when one other person joined the line. Folks started slowly coming in after 5am, and there were maybe 30-40 people at opening. I think I got one of the last AT&T 6s+ 128GB Space Gray phones they had for walk-ins, so it was good I got there early, but not nearly as many people as I had expected. Nice weather for camping out though, so that was a plus. Overall not a bad experience.

It should be obvious that some stores get more stock than others, and some stores get more stock of certain colors/sizes than others. Apple would be pretty stupid to send an equal amount of all variations to all stores since they have sales data that they can use to project which models are more likely to sell at a given store.

There are Apple Stores in my area that have lines hundreds of people deep a week or two after launch day. Then today the store I went to probably had 100 people total waiting. Not every store is the same and not every store is going to get stocked the same as a result.
