The 7 series is the bare minimum I personally would recommend at this point - it really has a lot of improvements over the 6s (P3 screen, 25% more brightness, IP67 water and dust resistance, haptic home button, stereo speakers, A10 - first chip with the big.LITTLE architecture for power savings, awesome wide color camera with a bigger sensor and OIS on 4.7", and more).

You'll really tell a difference with the screen vibrance. Plus I couldn't ever kill that battery when I owned it.

Congrats on your purchase.

The 6s was probably one of Apple’s better iPhones during the tenure from the 6 through 8. Albeit, I’d personally pass at this point with the A9 processor. I mean, it’s still very much capable of handling various tasks, but with iOS 13 on the horizon, I probably would just be in search of the iPhone 7 with the A10 Fusion processor, which added the stereo speakers, water resistance, haptic home button, ect.

iOS 12 is exception. Even if iPhone gets iOS 14, iPhone 7 will still outlast iPhone 6S.

It is far better to get iPhone 7 than 6S at this stage.

Why are we even bickering about the 6s vs 7? The point of the thread is the deal of the 6s+......

The 6s still does very well. I think that’s a great deal. I loved my 6s+. It was a huge step up from the 6 series.

Even better that it was JUST manufactured a month ago. So it’s brand spanking new. OP lucked out on this one. I just told my friend about this deal and we’re looking right now to get one. He has a 6 and it’s just not doing well for him. The 6 overall, hardware wise, bad... bad bad bad.

I thought these were all discontinued in 2018. Is it normal for Apple to continue manufacturing products after the announcement? I would have thought at that point they would just sell or recall any remaining stock.

OP, I have a launch weekend iPhone 6s+. It's been sitting on iOS 9.0.2 with the Pangu 9 jailbreak since October 2015.

I just recently upgraded to a Pixel 3a XL, but I carry two phones so my 6s+ is now doing the duty my iPhone 5 was.

Apple is continuing manufacturing iPhone 6S for select channel. If you unaware, iPhone 6 was sold in the carrier channel all the way until last August or September. Apple will probably continue manufactured iPhone 6S for carrier channel as lowest entry level of iPhone.

The deal is good, but it makes no sense about purchasing iPhone 6S at this point, if you care about future updates.

If not, then by all means go ahead.

For me iPhone 7 is the minimum for me, if I am in market for new iPhone.

Pretty sure apple manufacturers phones for (5) years after original launch date due to replacement requirements. This 6S+ is a freshly built new retail model.

The 6s series actually runs iOS 13 betas quite beautifully tbh. If this is to be its last major iOS update, and I think it will be, it will be a good note to go out on.

I can't imagine using a phone so old as my daily driver, but it's perfectly usable if you are willing to make those huge sacrifices in terms of missing technology and outdated components. I just use mine for some testing.

I wouldn't buy a 6s at this point. The 7 is much better, but at three years old, I can't recommend that either.

Save up front, lose that much more on the backend with a zero residual, and/or have to upgrade that much sooner again anyway.

Funny, I considered the 7 a go to upgrade for it's age. Apple wants way to much, and my carrier Cricket has it at 249.
Now the local Metro in switch plan is offering it for 49 bucks. Goes to show, there's a "Deal" to be had with older iphones these days. Since the 5S, all the phones have been very good devices. Pick one

Guys, I just bought a iPhone 7 128GB on eBay for $227. It is a new replacement phone that was never used in new condition. My iPhone 6S+ was $212 with tax. So I’ll just have to add a little when I return it to pay for this iPhone 7 128GB.

I think everyone in the thread missed my last post on page 1.

So I finally retired my iPhone SE, it was failing me on a daily basis due to the extremely rough condition and body damage the old SE had.

So I walked in Walmart and bought a brand new iPhone 6S+ 32GB unlocked for $199.

My manufacturers date is June 2019, this is a retail sealed iPhone, that was just recently built. It is not a refurbished model.

Anyways, I really love this 6S+ it feels super premium in hand. It is fast, and just looks beautiful!

Anybody else running a 6S+ in mid 2019? I see no reason why it wouldn’t last several more years for me.

I freaking love this new phone. iPhones last a very long time, and I never buy the newest available. I can see my self getting a iPhone 8, or a X in a year or two.

Hard to believe this phone came out on 09-25-2015!
I’m on my launch 6s, and it’s still my primary driver. The only downside is its battery life, but other than that, performance and everything else are still great.

I saw it.

Sure, it's a good deal, but it's a phone that's also not going to see much more support, and in a couple years' time you'll be dropping another few hundred on another old replacement.

I think it's fine whichever you go. Just understand the regular iphone 7 has 2gb ram, just like the iphone 6s plus, and the screen is bigger on the plus model. And if you care, it has a headphone jack, and a bigger battery.

People mentioning the 6s, well the OP got a 6s plus. So it's a bigger screen, bigger battery than the regular iphone 7. And the headphone jack (if you care about it, then it's a differentiating feature). And the 2nd gen touch id button on the 6s plus vs. the solid state home button on the 7 can be a toss-up really, as the 7's home ''area'' can have trouble w/gloves. The 7 does have a somewhat faster cpu, stereo speakers, ip water resistance, and the camera is improved.

I'd be willing to bet the 6s plus gets supported on ios 14 rather easily, because it has 2 gb ram, which imo is why the 5s series just recently saw its EOL with its 1 gb ram. Apple still produces ipads with 2 gb ram now, there's nothing holding the 6s series from being able to run the latest ios. The A9 is still plenty capable.

If you're on your phone a lot, you would benefit greatly from an Apple smart battery case. The non-plus phones don't last all day unless you're a casual user.

Yes, been using since launched. The battery is replaced and going to use this still for awhile..

I honestly don't understand why people seem to think *insert old iphone model here* was the best one. The best ones are the newest generation Xs/Max/Xr.

How do you measure ”the best”? For me, seeing the hideous notch is far from the best. Having a glass back and missing a touchId is lacking the label ”the best” too. So, for me 6S+ is the best phone released so far.

I recently sold my iPhone 6S before the prices drop, so I could purchase a 7 or 8 later on. The phone was running absolutely perfectly. I could easily multitask without any perceivable lag and I had the battery replaced earlier this year. It was a perfect device. The few areas I felt it lagged behind was -

  1. The camera was just not up to the mark given the current scenario out there. The low light shots were poor and dim.
  2. No IP67 rating. Have to be super careful even if it rains.
I am contemplating purchasing the 7 or 8. I have a budget of about $300 and I am waiting for the prices to drop with the release of the new iPhone. I am in favour of the 8 due to the sheer performance of the processor over the 7 and better battery life.

I also purchased a 6S Plus for my mother and she loves it. The larger screen is great for her low vision. I also feel the camera is an improvement over the 6S. The shots in low light look a lot better and of course OIS helps.

I thought the 6S+ had a great camera!

I thought the same thing before i replaced mine with the 8 Plus. And Xr / Xs has an even better performance. Difference like night and day. Especially in low light. Now i can't really believe that i used my 6s for that long (3 years) before replacing it with the 8 Plus end of last year.

I hope I do not mind the smaller screen of the iPhone 7. I really like this 6S+
Wish I could afford to keep both.

With the iPhone 7 there is the 'Loop disease'... Before upgrading my iPhone 6s (badly dropped it), it was running great and iOS 13 was super smooth on it.
