My iphone 6s plus too has a yellow tint over the left top 1/3 of screen. For a premium device like this and an ips screen technology with only 1080p resolution this is unacceptable. IMHO Apple does not care for such issues cause not everyone will see it nor will they search for it, many are happy because "Hey ! i have the newest and the most asskicking iphone 6s plus i don't care if Apple screw me with 1000 euro phones and inferior quality displays"

More over i exchanged 4 iphones 6 plus 64gb gold ones with fisrt two having non uniform yellow tinting screens, the 3d one had dust under the screen and the forth one which i kept has very slight worm tint over the left side, BUT!!! i have to admit that not all the phones which i had checked in various stores had issues with displays. i checked about 5 phones and two of them were super perfect though the others iphone 6plus were awful. As i read in various forums iphone 6s plus have much more issues and not only with screens.

My 6s is dimmer and yellowish on the top 1/4-1/3 of the screen; darker and "dirty" towards the top-right corner. The left 1/2" of the screen is also dimmer all the way down, but somewhat reddish or pinkish instead of yellow. Reading emails goes from a slightly pinkish background to a yellowy background on every line. It's quite distracting.

It's more difficult to see in bright light but it's still there. There's an area about 1" square in the lower-right area of the screen (not quite in the corner) that looks perfect and bright white. If I look at that for a second and then look anywhere else on the screen, that other part of the screen looks terrible.

I decided to return mine tonight. I really, really like everything else about the phone (the weight is fantastic compared to the 6, the haptic feedback is very cool, and the screen size is great for emails / web) but my primary use of the phone is to read emails and use the web and the color distortion is just too distracting on white and grey screens.

I might try to pick up another one in a few weeks. If that one is still no good then I guess I'll wait for the 7. :/

Just noticed that I can see the back-light very slightly on the top edge of the screen in certain colour backgrounds.. is this normal?

I would say very slight bleeding only noticeable in lighter colours.. like if you go to the Google homepage and zoom in on the white and turn iPhone sideways to landscape mode to see the bleeding on the top edge of the iPhone?

When I got my 6s, it was pretty bad. I noticed right away the dimmer screen and a slight dark spot on the top left (not very noticeable, but still there). The color gamut also seemed off. It was easily noticeable because I was comparing it to my old 6 - which quite literally has a perfect screen (best I've ever seen on the iPhone, I got lucky that round). I've had a lot of iPhone's, and while each screen has it's issues, this new 6s was not good. Not good at all.

I took the phone in to the Apple store today. The 3 people that were helping me noticed right away, which kind of surprised me - they usually can't tell. Out of curiosity they did a screen test and it failed. The colors were way off. It was good getting confirmation that I wasn't going crazy or being picky.

I also looked at all the phones in the store on display, and while ALL of them were better than my first 6s - none of them, save 1 or 2 were perfect. I asked the guy if I could take the display model that had a perfect screen and they declined.

The replacement, although not perfect, is pretty good. It's slightly warmer than my 6, and just a tinge dimmer (although that may work itself out over the next couple days). There's a SLIGHT dark band running down the right side of the screen, but it's not very noticeable, and this is coming from a super OCD picky screen guy. So unless I have any other issues, I'm keeping this one.

Moral of the story - you very rarely get a perfect screen. Find one that is good enough and you can live with until the next upgrade.

Oddly - I look at all my older Samsung phones (Note 3-4, S4-5, etc), and they all had perfectly uniform, bright screens. Maybe it's just Apple?

This has been my experience. I've owned a ton of Apple devices and non-Apple devices. Almost every one of the Apple devices has been exchanged at least once because of a bad screen. I haven't done that with any of the other companies' devices (and I'm not less picky for those devices). Yet, I still love Apple stuff and continue to buy and exchange. Go figure.

I was thinking the same... Other companies' devices I've had and/or encountered (friends' and family's phones, tablets, laptops, etc) had perfectly uniform displays. After exchanging 5S four times, my display still has interlacing issue and yellowish smudge near the top.

It's not just iPhones... My iMac also has dark smudges throughout the screen (screen burn-in?). And bottom right portion is noticeably yellow.

That being said, I love Apple products. They have certain charms that other manufacturers can't offer. My mid 2009 MBP and iPhone 4 have perfect screen. And they still function very well (MBP still feels like brand new computer.) And my iMac is a beast!

I wonder how people would have reacted if other manufacturers' devices had similar issues. Could the same logic apply to these companies as well? "Not all phones are perfect", "no two phones are the same," "just contact the manufacturer and wait for the fix," "that doesn't mean majority of devices has the same issue,"

Imagine if one Samsung phone had the display issue. Would we call it a junk or say that it's only one bad apple in the barrel..? Which answer would be "over-generalization"?

That being said, we should be glad about Apple's service. Try exchanging other manufacturers' devices. They don't have strong retail chains like Apple, and it gets complicated when you try to exchange for a "perfect" device.

Exchanging Galaxy because you "think" screen is defective? Call the customer service. You'll likely be told to contact the store where you bought the phone. Then the store will tell you to contact Samsung... Then Samsung will say, well, "you're seeing it wrong." Haha. If you keep insisting that the screen is defective, they will probably set up an appointment at a third party cell phone repair store to examine your phone.

Imagine exchanging four times....

I have one with att the 6s plus silver 64gb.
Top part of screen is darker, and they wouldn't do anything for me at att store
Told me to go through apple, which apple told me my credit card will have a hold of 900$ on it until they receive my old phone which being in college I don't have 900 dollars in my account for a hold on it. So debating what to do now. Today is the 14th and last day I could return it to att be would have to pay the 35$ restocking fee

Yep I noticed this problem with the darker top third of screen five minutes after I turned it on for the first time. Exchange? Been there done that, not worth it. This is typical quality for Apple products. They sell so many phones that they are forced to use lcd suppliers that are incompetent otherwise we'd all be waiting six months for our phones to arrive. Replaced six phones a few years back never got a good one. Keeping this one after all I'll only have it for a year! Good luck with whatever you decide to do.

Same here my old
iPhone 3G first try perfect
iPhone 3GS first try perfect
iPhone 4 first try perfect
Problems started on
iPhone 5 five exchanges due to dead pixels and scuffs.
iPhone 5s first try perfect
iPhone 6 Eight exchanges 7 had dead pixels and dust under screen.
iPhone 6s worked fine for 13 days after dead pixel appeared.
I'm done with Apple till next year not playing their stupid exchange game screen lottery waste me so much energy and time.

And in response to original posters comment about the 2011/12 27" iMac -- yep! Absolutely the worst computer I ever owned. Still feel robbed. Dust collecting under the screen pulled in by the cooling fans. Gazelle'd it.

Mine (Silver 64 Gb 6s) is slightly, but noticeably, darker and slightly yellower on the left (particularly towards the top). It's most obvious when looking at a page of text or with the keyboard (especially if you take a screenshot of a new text message and flip the image so the keyboard appears at the top of the screen).

Demo models (of various 6s types) in the Apple Store seemed to have the same issue, albeit with a little variation. In contrast, the iPhone 6 demo models clearly did not have the issue, with a brighter white, very uniform screen.

Not fun since I already had to replace two due to screen dust.

If you don't mind about CPU just exchange the phone, some displays are really better than others.

Though on white background and medium brightness you could always find something...

Went thought a couple of 6s units before getting an even screen and this was the same last year with the 6 model. It looks like the iPhone 6 / 6S backlight designs bring mainly the light from the bottom but that's just my assumption since most of the devices are brighter over this area.

Just got my 6S this evening, 64GB space grey.

I'm a photographer/ photo editor and I pick up imperfections and uniformity fairly easy.

Mines noticeably darker in the upper left hand corner. Not really annoying unless I'm viewing emails constantly, which I usually do...

Mine was the same way! I'm a graphic designer so it was killing me. Returned it and got another one. This one is very uniform, but has a darker blue strip running along both the right and left edges. I honestly think this is due to the addition of 3D touch. Every 6S and 6S Plus I've had a chance to look at for more than a couple seconds has some combination of the uneven backlighting and the falloff on the right and left edges. The severity just varies from phone to phone.

Same, DNP serial screen, 6s 128 GB Silver.

Left screen side warmer, right side cooler. Very uneven. Distracting.

My phone also have a slightly darker tone at the top left of the display... Is it worth playing the lottery game?

(I got the samsung chip too D: )

I had 3 phones. First one came with a scratched backplate. Second had a very unresponsive home button (oftentimes needed to press 2-3x times to actually register), my current one is fine and has the TSMC chip.

All 3 had varying degrees of uneven brightness. Probably between 7-8 points on a 10-point-scale. Mostly the left side of the screen noticeably warmer/darker than right side. Still usable, I will probably get used to it.

For example, my iPad 3 had a good screen out of the box, over the years it developed significant light bleed across all 4 edges. Unevenness also increased. I still use it fine, don't care. Same thing happened to my old iPhone.

Guess it bothers us in the beginning as those things are supposed to be perfect.

So far, I had 4 iPhones, 4 big iPads, 2 iPad minis, 2 MacBooks. Some I exchanged multiple times for varying reasons. But no screen was ever perfect in even brightness. None!! And I've seen dozens up close.

It just a matter of if I can get used to it or not.

And  is exceptional in customer service. If my screen still bothers me a couple months from now, I'll exchange it at the nearest store.

You just have to get a genius who cares.

So you mean I probably shouldn't play the lottery game..? because I'll probably get another on with an uneven screen too right

You have every right to play the game. I used to do it as well in the past.

In the end, it is just not worth it if you get a tolerable device. I just needed to get over my own OCD search for perfection, especially for products manufactured in a huge mass peril ruin factory in Shenzhen, China...

My phone screen is EXACTLY the same. Just like yours dark up top. 90% of apps hide the defect anyway because that's their title bar area. I kept mine didn't want to play lottery, been there done that was never satisfied.

I am having the same problem. Bought one iPhone 6s 64gb space gray. I don't have an Apple Store near me, so I am currently on my second replacement. They will probably send my third phone tomorrow. I won't accept a $800 phone with a screen like that. This is awful in every light tones screens like white. And all the iOS is white on the top. If my third phone comes with this horrible screen, I am going to ask for a return, refund, and sadly buy an Android phone. I currently have an iPhone 5 and didn't wish to change from iPhone, but Apple is obligating me to do so with this lack of respect with consumers. I can't believe there are people that simply accept a screen with such an annoying disuniformity.

One of the prices we all have to pay for the iPhone's popularity is Apple has to be lax with quality control so it can push units out the door. If it didn't do this we'd be waiting months to get our phones delivered. Personally I'm still waiting for the Borg to assimilate Earth and herald in a new era of perfection. Until then, be prepared to exchange iPhones over and over or go with an Android (sigh).
