I am having the same problem. Bought one iPhone 6s 64gb space gray. I don't have an Apple Store near me, so I am currently on my second replacement. They will probably send my third phone tomorrow. I won't accept a $800 phone with a screen like that. This is awful in every light tones screens like white. And all the iOS is white on the top. If my third phone comes with this horrible screen, I am going to ask for a return, refund, and sadly buy an Android phone. I currently have an iPhone 5 and didn't wish to change from iPhone, but Apple is obligating me to do so with this lack of respect with consumers. I can't believe there people that simply accept a screen with such an annoying disuniformity.

I live in a place where there are no Apple Store near me and I got my phone via a carrier and a contract. The problem with the display is I went to the authorized resellers, checked their units and they have the same unevenness on the top of the screen... :/ I am impressed with other aspects of the phone. It's unlikely I'll get one with a better display and I don't want to get a refurbished model. I guess I'll try to change my phone during the end of it's warranty.. and live with it for now.

My phone screen is EXACTLY the same. Just like yours dark up top. 90% of apps hide the defect anyway because that's their title bar area. I kept mine didn't want to play lottery, been there done that was never satisfied.
Yes exactly... :l I saw people with malfucntion home buttons, blue lines on screen and overheating issues so maybe I'll keep mine until next year end where my warranty is going to end.. And pray for a TSMC chip by then..

You have every right to play the game. I used to do it as well in the past.

In the end, it is just not worth it if you get a tolerable device. I just needed to get over my own OCD search for perfection, especially for products manufactured in a huge mass peril ruin factory in Shenzhen, China...

True.. Sort of disappointed but I guess I'll live with it. After all, it's just a phone..

I had the same problem with my Samsung S2. I thought I could get over it but after using it for a year I regret really not getting it replaced.

Are you serious? LOL. xD
anyway I'm planning to get it replace before the end of its warranty. :p (So I'll get a new battery as well) haha
And I guess I should visit MacRumors forums lesser.. because to be frank xD I wouldn't notice it I didn't see someone post something about this at the Samsung vs TSMC chip thread LOL

For real. I kept telling myself I would get over it because it was my third exchange ( the other ones were faulty with dead pixels) and I thought I could live with it.

Yeah sometimes these "problems" are just all in our heads. After months of use our batteries diminish anyways and by then we don't care about battery life haha.

But because we invest so much money into our phones we expect it to be perfect. Which isn't a bad thing because some people save a lot for these devices

The problem about getting an exchange is.. I am likely to end up with a phone that is worse or have the same defects because the display units have the same issues....
looking at the poll... I feel like chances of getting a better phone is slim
Sort of dissapointed. But I'll get it exchanged next year when there are ready stocks in here. (My country pretty much have all the phones sold out except the 16G models..)

Im on my third 6s now, as i had to replace the first 2 due to various other faults ( 1) a clicking screen, 2) a home button, which felt weird with no proper feedback on the upper part of the button).

This one is flawless, however the screen uniformity is far from optimal - unfortunately. The second 6s had a similar issue, but there it was hardly noticeable. Its always the same hassle - you just trade in one issue for another...

About 1/4 of the upper part of the display is dimmer/darker than the rest and there is a fingerprint-sized darker spot on the upper left part as well. So, when browsing webpages like google or macrumors for instance it can be spotted - the lower part of the screen is white whereas the top part is more like a light grey.

I really dont want to go through another exchange through my carrier and wait for the replacement, as i sold my 5s last week. I guess, as i planned on buying apple care+ anyway, i m going to ask for an express exchange in a few weeks or even months. It shouldnt be a problem with this kind of screen and an express exchange is always a fast and easy way to get a replacement.

I'm on my 5th 6S. Decided to live with a subpar screen. I returned 3 that were just like yours to varying degrees. I only plan on having it for a year, so I just keep telling myself that it's ok to hate the phone. Ha!

Same, DNP serial screen, 6s 128 GB Silver.

Left screen side warmer, right side cooler. Very uneven. Distracting.

Exact same color inconsistency on the one I just bought yesterday at the AT&T store. DNP serial. AT&T told me I have to go to Apple for any exchanges. Apple told me I had to go to AT&T. Luckily, the woman on the Apple call didn't argue with me and put me through to the "iPhone specialist" and now I've an appointment with the so-called geniuses at my local Apple Store.

(Mine is the 64 GB space gray 6s)

this is 7th forum i replied and shared my store,
i feel 3d touch have big design flaw,
i replaced 5 iphone 6s, because i got annoyed from DUST under display and glass..
5th one is worser than ever,
i have bad speaker,
have dead pixel
have dust and increasing day by day
loose home button
shady screen
brighter corners.
apple is sending me sealed phone but since i realized that dust which im getting is design flaw, every iphone 6s will get dust every day, one day screen will become full of dust.. (depends upon how fast and your area)

So, we either tolerate this inconsistent quality or... we tolerate it. ??? Where exactly is consumer choice? When this is all that's available, and people with problem phones are considered too picky, we have the perfect formula for corporations never fixing anything and consumers being trapped with one defect or another. What will force them to make the manufacturing more consistent? The articles all praise these devices, so it's not going to be the PR that forces Apple and others to resolve screen non-uniformity.

Those of us with professionally-trained perception (designers, photographers, etc) will see and be annoyed by color inconsistency or brightness issues far more than the average consumer. So... all is well? $700 for an inconsistent screen is then okay because only "picky people" have a problem??

Since we've come to feel reliant on these devices (and indeed, they're extraordinarily useful for daily life), it's not really a true option to just stop buying them. It's a major shift in culture that leads to dramatically different perspectives. It's like comparing life between pre and post electricity availability. Back when electrification was a new thing, if I lacked electricity in my house, someone could say "so what, lots of people don't have that LUXURY". But today, I think most people would find that to be unacceptable. So, no, "stop buying phones" isn't the solution.

Edit: "I'm just glad it's not worse than this" is really a poor type of customer satisfaction...

I'm copying this from my post in another thread since I've been dealing with this issue too on my 6S+: So I was asked to go to the Apple Store for them to verify the hardware issues. The genius who initially started helping me not only acknowledged that my phone had issues, but that my wife's did as well. Then the piece of trash manager came over and said "I don't see anything" and basically sent us away. Not only did the genius change his tune when the manager showed up, but the manager basically told us he wouldn't help us no matter what. This is the same manager who told me that cracking my watch screen wasn't eligible for an Apple care Incident where my deductible would apply to pay for 1 of the 2 allowable losses, as he said it's only "cosmetic." I had to call an Applecare representative to have them tell him he was wrong and to allow it. If you are having these issues, don't bother visiting the Rockaway, NJ Apple Store. The one manager is trash. The senior adviser that I've been working with even threw a fit when she found out what happened, and not only called the store to put him in his place, but involved customer care directly to me because they also agree that he was completely out of line. Thankfully there are 3 other stores in the area because I'll never visit that store again.

TL;DR: Apple still sending me my 5th phone, and now my wife's 6S has the same issue. Ugh.
