Currently have a 5s and was thinking of upgrading. Main reason is battery. I usually am able to charge my phone at night but that's because my phone is on low power mode most of the time and I don't use it that often during the day, but when I do use it, it drains quickly.

The 6s isn't too bad. If you can squeeze another year out of your 5s, you might want to wait for the 7. Recent reports seemingly show that the 6s has fallen behind other smartphones with regards to the camera. Apple might take this to heart and dramatically improve things with the 7.

The battery is also smaller than the 6 so, after a couple years or so of use, it might be as bad as your current phone. Here's hoping the wizards at Apple figure out a way to increase the size and capacity for the 7.

Don't spend another year with your 5s if you want a new iPhone now. The iPhone 7 is a year away.... :(

You could always just change the battery on your 5s and enjoy it for the year...

The 6S is as big an upgrade as there has ever been, so I say you should go ahead! Last year's models were a waste of everyone's time apart from the bigger screens but this year Apple's iPhone mojo is back. The 6S will smoke your 5S in every respect. Then again, the 5S should comfortably last you another year if you drop a new battery in it. Do it yourself for less than $20.

Mate I upgraded from a 5s which I love and have no intention of selling but the 6s is fantastic , really is the best phone I ever owned .
Ridiculously fast and smooth !
I got over 7 hours use and 53 hours standby with 19% battery left and that's with a Samsung chip lol
I'm delighted with the battery , much better than my 5s
Makes reading SO much easier but the only gripe I have is that it's a little tricky for me to use one handed ( average size hands ).
I didn't realise how valuable and convenient 1h use is : I finally get what Apple have been saying all this time !
But seriously you won't regret it or just send it back if you do :)

I also really like my 6s coming from 5s. As stated it is very fast and smooth with great battery life and a great screen. Not sorry at all. I haven't found the bigger size and issue in carrying around or in pocket.

Should I upgrade or just wait until next year for the 7

Get the 6, or wait for the 7.

Get the 6, or wait for the 7.

I realize your a newbie but I'm gonna bite for some reason...

Why would you get a 6 or wait for the 7???

The 6 is nothing but an overclocked 5s in a bigger frame. The A8 chip is the biggest dud SoC Apple has ever "designed" and it's crippled by 1GB of RAM. The iPhone 6 Plus had lag issues from day 1 and if you don't believe me I'm sure at least one person on this thread will concur...

The A9 on the other hand is a beast in itself. The fact that they doubled the RAM makes the phone at least 50% faster then the dud they released last year.

I mean seriously let's not kid ourselves. The iPhone 6 was wildly successful because it had the bigger screens and that's it!!! Nothing else that was an upgrade from the 5s. So OP to answer your ? If you have a 5s do NOT get the iPhone 6. I bought the iPhone 6 last year from the 5s and felt jipped for an entire year. The speed and performance over the 5s is NOT worth the upgrade...

However to the iPhone 6s or 6s Plus from the 5s is a MAJOR upgrade

Upgrade!! It is night and day. For me it has MUCH better batter life than the 5S. Huge uptick in speed as well. You will love it compared to your 5S.

My 6 is smooth. It's also my first iPhone, after using numerous Android powered flagship devices. Trust me when I say that I don't see any "lag" or "stuttering" with this "dud" of an SoC and 1GB of RAM. In real world usage, day to day, the difference between the 6 & 6s will be negligible. Get over the benches and white papers. I agree with your statement about the 6+, the "lag" is due to a higher resolution display that the internal components struggle to drive effectively. Like I said, my 6 is smooth; I don't know what people do to these devices to make them slow, but mine is brilliant. Eight hours screen on time today, with more than 20% remaining...something that would have never happened on a flagship android powered device.

I have the 6S,-plus --i came from a 6 plus......going back to 6 plus....i haven used it it for 2 weeks it as others have said fast, responsive... but for me not work the money.. i bought back my 6plus and plan on returning the 6s....again coming from a 6 i can't see the need... but from a 5s to a 6s well thats a tough decision... BUT for sure I'm all in foe 7.. Just my 2

Isn't it funny how some people think the 6+ is a gem of a phone and that the 6S+ isn't much of an improvement, whilst others say that the 6+ is an absolute dog and the 6S+ smokes it out of the park. They are all the same, nobody got a bad one. It's purely what people use them for that determines their opinion.

I am in no way saying the 6 is a horrible phone. What I'm saying is that Apple crippled the A8 by using 1GB of RAM. The A8 would have been a wonderful chip had it been 2GB of RAM, but that's the A9 and the A9 is n absolute beast.

Today I would not recommend anyone buying an iPhone 6 over a 6s unless the get it used or dirt cheap refurb. There's a HUGE difference in the 6s and the 6 and I mean HUGE!! The differences are not negligible and never will be... The 6s is a masterful device.

I'm sorry but it's the truth... Trust me I had the iPhone 6 for a year and I loved it, but the 6s is classes above the 6

Agin I'm sorry but the 6s Plus is miles ahead of the 6 Plus... The phone is way more polished. Way more. I don't think most people understand that this "s" upgrade was what Apple normally would have used when introducing a new design.

That's how much better these phones are...

It's true that the 6S+ is more of an improvement over the 6+ than the 6S is over the i6, but both are massively different beasts. Forget 3D Touch and the incremental camera improvements, the reason I upgraded was for the increased performance. Last year's models were basically just the iPhone 5S with a bigger screen and Apple Pay. These latest S models have significant improvements to the CPU & GPU and they also have double the RAM.

Web pages load up almost instantaneously. Apps and browser tabs stay in memory without refreshing. Safari hasn't crashed on me once whilst viewing data-heavy sites, whilst on my 6+ it used to do that multiple times per day. I haven't experienced any springboard crashes or app crashes. I can scroll speedily down long pages of notes or large feature-rich websites with zero lag. I don't see any stuttering anywhere. These are dramatic, epic improvements and if people don't notice them then I'm amazed quite frankly. What on earth do you do on your phones??:p

i went from the 5 to the 6s and I can tell you the difference is night and day. If you can afford the 6s it's a no-brainier. I'm pretty much a light phone user (the number one activity is music playback) but I'm getting at least twice the battery life that I was getting from my 5 - and that's with a case a new iPhone-itus, where I'm using all of the new features and apps constantly on the 6s.

It's bigger, and it's a little heavier, and you won't notice any of that after a day or two. It's really fast, it blows the 5 away at everything and it just reeks of quality. By far the biggest and only thing I had to get used to going from the 5 to the 6s is the sleep/wake button is now on the side of the phone and not on top.

So you bought a 6S+, sold your 6+, returning the 6S+, buying the 6+?! WTF?!

Lol jipped? I upgraded from a 5s too only back in December and I'm still loving my 6. Debated whether or not to get 6s and ultimately settled on just waiting to see what the 7 has to offer.unless you're some super power user, the differences are not that dramatic. The improved screen real estate itself will be a huge improvement coming from either 5. I'd say if it saves you money op go for it for the time being. There's really nothing wrong with the 6 despite what the "latest and greatest" crowd says
