iPhone 7 and 7 Plus Again Rumored to Feature Smart Connector, but No Stereo Speakers or Thinner Design

It will be bad move for Apple if they remove the headphone jack and then neglect that space.
No headphone jack? Then we are done with iPhones. Several people (none of them technical) have said they will move to Android if apple does this. They spent too much money on good headphones to compromise with Bluetooth headphones.
I think the smart connector is for case accessories. I doubt Apple will actually come out with a keyboard for it. The interface might technically allow it, and some company might design a case with a keyboard that slides out. But I think it's mainly to decrease the size of battery cases that must be taller to plug into the lightning port. I think it will allow it to be charged, and Apple will probably have a smaller battery case for this new iPhone. This could also potentially work with wireless charging bases. Maybe Apple could build it into their case line if they don't put it into the phone itself? It would give people more reason to buy Apple's higher priced accessories, which Ahrendts is all about.
Amazing how many people on here already assume these leaks are real and complaining about the iPhone 7 as being ugly and boring.

A case with inductive charging!! You know ike some lumia had a couple of years ago but cooler because Apple "invented" it ... And they will sell it as the next big thing!!

They removed wireless charging ti make the phone Thinner (well the camera is another story
) and then added back the functionality with an add on.... that you have to pay for.Seems vaguely what Apple would go for, remove feature, make it thinner and sell that feature at an extra price....
Of course Nokia made a terrible mistake while with Apple it will "just work" out and be the next best decision Apple have ever done, at least for die hard fans.

What if this is Apple's solution for 'wireless charging'? The argument can be made, they have countlessly stated that wireless charging is overrated because it's just adding another cable to plug in. While with a smart connector, you can add a case or cover that enables wireless charging if you want it, or you can dock it like you would wireless charging.
I realize you would most likely need to make sure that it lines up, but I believe that the smart connector is magnetic (please correct me if I am wrong).
Anyways, just my two cents, and thought I was an interesting idea.

Of course it does because it's a crappy photo of something that's probably not legit or not a finished part. Anyway people here said the same thing about every single iPhone case leak. People here said no way would Steve Jobs sign off on those black antenna lines on the iPhone 4. The iPhone 5 was roundly criticized as ugly and just a stretched iPhone 4S. IF this is legit it looks like a cross between an iPod touch and an iPhone 6S with less prominent antenna line.
Of course this rumor can't be true as it says the phone isn't getting thinner. /s
It's a slab of aluminum. Kind of like the 5th gen iPod touch. Was that a monstrosity? How about wait and see what Apple actually announces first? Or at least not form opinions off some crappy supply chain leak photo that may or may not be legit.
It doesn't make any sense to have the Smart Connector on the bottom of the phone like that, it would limit the functionality. And even in the loosest sense of the term, the Smart Connector won't be used for wireless charging. If those dots are antenna/dual use for wireless at a distance though....
They probably are for a magsafe equivalent for iPhone. Don't forget that apparently the 3.5 audio jack is going away and the lightning port is going to be used instead. This allows for both charging and use of headphones while also opening the field for accessories that use it and an easier/safer charging solution.

So apple got rid of the antenna bands but added that hideous camera. Wow
