yes, of course i think they will silently fix the issue, like the yellow displays

Came back to the store today and they were out of stock. They ordered me a new phone and it will come in next week. I will post when I get it and see if the replacement solves the issue.

I have now had 3 iPhone 7 256gb Pluses and everyone has had the hissing problem. It records on video as well (every time).

Not sure what to do. I can keep getting new exchanges until I get one that is fine, or see what Apple does. I spoke to AppleCare who said they are aware of the issue and "monitoring" it. The stores are all aware of the issue too and told me they had a few come in with the issue

should we make a poll on a different thread to see which countries are affected and which are not?
or maybe a poll with component numbers/codes
I think it won't matter at this point as it seems almost all iPhone 7 have this issue.

So I just re-watched an old video recorded on my 6S plus. It was taken late at night and there was some hissing on there although I only noticed it because I was looking out for it.

So what's the best way to test this "hissing?" I want to ensure my 7+ isn't a victim.

Have two iPhone 7's and neither one has a hissing problem. Sounds like Id-10-t error caused by feedback between the mic and much improved stereo speakers.

Wouldn't be surprised because people will look to make Apple look bad at every launch.

It's not an excuse to make apple look bad, the hissing and static in the videos is bad and it shouldn't be making that noise. It's obviously a defect as not all iPhone 7 have this issue.

nice idea!

The iPhone does not play back the audio it records while the recording is going on... Can't have feedback without something to feedback.

So no, it can not be an ID-10-T error.

I'm just stunned that would even be suggested by anyone. It's very much likely a hardware/hardware design problem at the "Apple level". Not a single thing a user can do about it except keep trying iPhone 7's or use an external mic. Apple might be able to do a fix in software that basically reduces the amount of power being used by freezing apps or throttling, but it's a physical problem at the root.

The issue seems to be more towards the plus model. My friend here at work has a regular 7 and doesn't have any issues.

My 256 ATT 7 Plus had the same problem. Sounded like a hair dryer running in the background of my videos so it's been sent back in to Apple support. My friends Verizon Plus doesn't do it. I'm wondering if it's related to the Intel modem chipset in ATT vs the Qualcomm in Verizon or is it just dumb luck :/

Waiting on a replacement so I have no phone which sucks

Did you order from Apple or AT&T? My AT&T 7 Plus does the same. I was thinking should I contact Apple or AT&T regarding this issue?

run some Antutu benchmark test.

I heard something as soon as I put the volume down all the way. I want to give this more time before wasting time going to the Apple Store for a warranty exchange. Too much hassle involved in that when I never maximize my processor.

I ordered mine from ATT&T also. I doubt it has anything to do with the chip. Probably more towards the A10 processor. I should be getting my replacement at the store soon when it arrives. I'm going to test it out before i take it just to make sure it's not worse than my current one.

Replacement phone came in to the Apple Store. Going to pick it up after work. Will keep everyone posted if the replacement is any better.

I have a jet black 128gb Plus. I noticed no hissing noise when the phone was under heavy load during the restore process. It did get hot, but cooled down soon after.

Decided to do a test by recording video with the stock camera app on my 6S Plus and the 7 Plus at the same time. I then played back both recordings on each phone. Both recordings on the 6S Plus sounded fine. On the 7 Plus, BOTH recordings played with a noise I would describe as a shower running in the background.

When I play Netflix, I have to listen very closely to hear it in the background. What's really weird though, is playing both through the wired headphones made it sound like the 6S also had the hiss. And to confuse things even further, when listening with a bluetooth headset, the noise is almost non existent on the 7Plus.

I initially thought it was a speaker issue. Now I'm not so sure this won't be a software fix of some kind.

Was thinking of returning mine, but after doing this further testing, thinking I'll be keeping it.

I think so too but there is no guarantee that they will do any silent fix. Iphone 5 had the loose power button well into the next year and even many 5S models had it too. If its not a major thing and only a geek/tech thing they tend to let it go.
