I've been a BMW customer for many years, and I'm not surprised by this at all. It's probably not iOS or the iPhone 7. BMW is HORRIBLE with their in-car system. No one at the dealerships understands it at all. I just bought a 2-series and I had a scheduled appointment with someone to show me how to use the iDrive system, and he missed several key features that I found only after playing with it. The system in BMW cars is terrible and it has been for years. For BMW to fix this, someone in New Jersey needs to make a change to the software while the car is plugged in at a certified dealership.. blah blah. It is the most unmanageable computer system I have ever seen. There won't be a fix from BMW. There will be a fix from Apple that caters to the idiots at BMW.

Just my $.02.

Probably unrelated but my iPhone 6 with iOS 10.0.2 would not connected via Bluetooth to my "Automatic" brand car dongle until I turned on Wi-Fi. Never had that problem before 10.0.2. Could just be that Bluetooth is going into a coma with the latest iOS and needs some action to wake it back up.

BMW (along with several other European auto companies) have been recalcitrant with their audio/infotainment systems. BMW has been one of the worst, with the fiddly and flawed "ConnectedDrive" system still being pushed into their cars. The poor performance of this increasingly important item in a car is then further crippled with a "voice control" system that isn't anywhere close to the performance and speed of Siri.

During a seminar at the Audio Engineering Society conference in Paris earlier this year, representatives of these companies got an earful from the obviously technology-oriented audience. Complaints ranged from systems crippled with software blocks in different countries as well as never-delivered firmware upgrades. The companies suggested that management and safety issues had slowed the process of bug fixes and upgrades to a crawl.

Funny, this doesn't seem to effect Tesla. Along with a few other more enlightened companies.

With direct-connection iPhone adapters to BMW audio systems running 15 months behind the actual release of the iPhone model, I wouldn't hold your breath for any quick fix from BMW.

Your really live up to your nick name. The iPhone 7 has had a lot of BT issues across different car makers, whatever continent they are made at. And if you don't know, the BT radio units are not made in US, they are common parts between different car manufacturers.

And those BMW drivers better not start to use their iPhones without hands free whilst driving.... that's nothing but a serious accident waiting to happen...

Bingo. I hit a goodly sized deer with my 550i at 20-25mph a few years back and the deer was roadkill while my radiator wasn't even cracked. Built like a tank. Even my convertible 2-series is braced to the hilt.

The future of wireless realized.. In the meantime the old fashioned aux port still works just fine. Hope you guys didn't forget your dongles!

I've had issues in my 2015 Kia K900 as well... which lines up with the Hyundai problems seeing they are the same manufacturer basically... I can stream audio with no issues, but phone calls are another story... sometimes works fine other times it will drop my call and lose the bluetooth connection momentarily.

I've been seeing some funny behaviour in my i3. Bluetooth audio streaming generally works, but it suddenly cuts out or mutes at random times. The car and iPhone show audio playing with the volume up, but nothing is heard from the speakers.

Interestingly, with my iPhone 6s on iOS 10 (including back during the summer on beta), it never had an issue.

I was having issues on my 2015 M4 with a launch day 7+. I decided to return that iPhone and got a 256gig 2 days ago (I'm assuming it's a later production date) and I haven't had any issues with this one. Both on 10.1b1...strange.

I get audio cutouts over BT audio on my 2015 i3. Quite annoying. I can pause playback with my Apple Watch, then resume play and it comes back for a little bit. But the it cuts out again. iPhone 7 with latest iOS 10.0.2. Didn't have any issues with my iPhone 6 iOS 9.x

I wish I just had bluetooth issues. CarPlay does not work for me once I updated my phone to 10.0.2

New iphone 7plus at&t - yesterday - blutooth issues with kia soul - have to keep re-pairing them. - issue seems to be at the iphone end - running latest beta of 10.1

iPhone 7+ having Bluetooth issues in my 2013 Ford Explorer. Works a while, gets choppy, and only Airplane Mode/reconnecting will get any audio back to my car.

I'm having a noticeable issue on my IPhone 7 and my Chrysler "uconnect".
When streaming music, every so often the music pauses or no sound is here for a second or more, and then resumes. This has only happened on the new phone, no issues with my 6S

My Toyota Tacoma 2016 is the same way. I can't even get it to see the truck anymore.
While streaming music over BT, my 2016 Tacoma system went into freeze, reboot, infinite loop with the new iPhone 7. No such issues with iPhone SE. It's not the radio, it's the phone.

I had this issue today with my iPhone 7 and Audi A5. As soon as the phone paired the music (from SD card) stopped playing, and the Audi MMI system completely froze until I turned off Bluetooth on my phone. I had to delete the paired device and re-pair. Annoying.

Omg Apple released betas months ago, can't car makers test the compatibility with iOS 10 ??? They shoudl have upgraded their firmware to make sure it works, I have no problem with my <insert brand here>.

BT failing or spotty in both our 2015 X3 and 2015 M3; driving me nuts. Especially when we want to be playing music for the kids. Slightly better in the M3 which has had its firmware updated recently. It's also messing up phone calls and has crashed the phone a couple of times.

BMW's track record is less-than-good and has been for years.

My 2012 F10 535 has always had problems with iPod Classic, and still does - BMW has never updated its software. Even standard radio has 1/2 second buffering issues at times (not related to poor signal). The response is that this is normal.

p.s. this is while plugged in, and NOT via Bluetooth
