There are even weather proof hardcase holsters...
Great, I'll look even more of a tool. It's irrelevant anyway. The point is, phones are perfectly safe in a front jeans pocket.

A friend of mine thought it was safe until he bumped into a table edge and bend his 6S+.
That's an accident though. If it's in a holster, you could bump into something and cause some damage also.
Soft shell holsters, yes, but the one I use is made from milspec aluminium alloy and carbon fibre,so I guess my leg will be crushed long before the holster. That's an accident though. If it's in a holster, you could bump into something and cause some damage also.
A good bit of damaged phones are due to accidents.
His phone was in a holster and still bent. He claimed the room was somewhat dark and he walked directly into the edge at full walking speed and actually bruised his leg. Just shows that stuff can happen.

Why did you originally quote my post? You made it sound like his phone was in a front jeans pocket. All I was saying to the other guy was it's not lucky I've had no damage in a pocket.

Like I've just said above, phones are fine in pockets. I've no desire to walk round with a holster and a hard case. No need.
Because you said a phone is perfectly safe in a front jeans pocket. That is not true.
Of course they are. As with anything, be mindful of what you do. It's perfectly safe to go for a walk to the shops. There's always a chance you could get hit by a car. So is it not safe to go for walk?
I have already ridden my bike 14 miles this morning and I was lucky and escaped death.
Completely missing the point. There's simply no need to baby your phones in heavy duty cases, holsters under normal use. And I'm not accepting that in over 1,000 days of having either a 6+, 6s+ or 7+ I've been lucky not to bend my phone because I keep it in my front jeans pocket. Not saying any more on it, I've got better things to do.
Thing is, you don't know until you have the case and try it. I had a Spigen "thin-fit" case on my HTC M9 that was an extremely tight fit and a pain in the *** to remove. I has a 2nd Spigen case that was a bit more rugged that I swapped with every 3-4 months or so. Anyway, I ended up breaking the thin-fit case trying to remove it. Admittedly, it cracked in the area of the vol-up/down and power button (on the M9, these 3 buttons are next to each other) where there were the cut-outs.but I guess I need to be more careful when selecting cases going forward.
True. Accidents can happen. But likely it comes down to user negligence in most cases. If somebody puts their phone in the back pocket and sits on it, and it bends , that's clearly the users fault. Phones just don't spontaneously bend unless there is some type of force applied somewhere. But I also carry my phone in my front pocket and have never had any issues with bending. I'm also a very cautious person And Treat my property with respect. And for the record, I do not use holsters or hard cases.
Anyone in tech or IT knows the mantra well, “user error” 99% of the time lol
Buy looser pants.
Phones are no longer safe in pants pockets? What a world we live in.
I have, and paid a few hundred dollars for screen repairs. I just can't admit defeat by using a case.Because phones get dropped. No doubt you've never dropped yours but it does happen to people....
